I’ll start ASAP.
I was practicing cleans and hurt myself. As the bar was dropping down my hand got caught under the bar and made my wrist bend too much at the pinky. Thinking I would “shake it off”, but I had to stop the workout early, went home and iced it. This morning I went on my fasted walk before the gym, at the end of my walk there was lots of blood flow in my hands and I realized there was no way I would be able to grip weights.
I’ve been icing it and taking ibuprofen. What i’ve read online is that minor sprains take a few days. I’ve considered upping the cardio for next couple of days and wanted to get your opinion before doing so.
Really bummed.
Got straps?
can you do the lower body stuff?
I’m afraid if I’m gripping weights and my wrist bends that it will make it way worse.
Lower workout consist of cleans, deads and squats. I could try the deads and squats with lower weight.
Its sore when the wrist goes back and when I make the motion of turning a knob.

I’ve done something similar a few times. A tweaked wrist HURTS. I’ve bruised my palm/base of thumb pressing, so even unloading the dishwasher was painful for a few days. Wondered if it was a little stress fracture, but that one cleared in 4 or 5 days.
Machine legs. Abs. Walk. UGH. It’s a blip. You’re almost there, and it’s mostly about the diet at this point, Nez. You are doing so well.
EDIT: And Buckeye is spot on about abs. A lot is this is genetic in terms of where you put your last bit of fat. You are fortunately very proportionate. There’s a woman at my gym with a very defined 6 pack. BUT she has one really wide booty with lots of fat and cellulite on her thighs. Pear in the extreme. Other women look much leaner overall, but no visible abs until contest lean.
Thanks Puff.
Got wrist wraps? You could try wrapping the one wrist for like everything just to be safe.
I don’t. I could find some. Waiting on jake…
Sorry. I’m moving cross-country the next 5 days or so and right now I’m packing and saying my sad farewells to all my west coast besties.
Really the best thing you can do is just go in and see what you can do and work around the injury. Don’t change anything with the set up, like add cardio or drop calories or something, just make adjustments.
Like box jumps instead of cleans.
Good mornings instead of deadlifts.
A few days off to let it heal won’t hurt you either, or skipping your upper day one cycle.
Sorry Jake- i know its a bad time. I will see what I can do and get back to you.
Don’t let it deter you. Just get creative as J has suggested
Thread title is hilarious
I thought of “ultra meth” when i read it “supreme crack rocks”
Other than the cheap lul good work and stuff
not a successful day.
i’ll try again tomorrow.
Enjoying this log very much.
I’ve had a lot of injuries and know how frustrating they are. But a workaround can almost always be found to get the work done. Or sometimes it’s best to take a rest. Good luck with whichever path you choose.
Attempted my full body today (third time this week). Was able to accomplish (with less weight) RDL’s, back lunges, goblet squats. Knuckle pushups and planks instead of db bench press and explosive pushups. Didn’t think bent over rows would go over well so I did trap bar deads at 190!!! <<<thats a PR! Did more abs and sprints and called it a day…a good day. ![]()
My wrist gets a better everyday- mentally, its getting better too. Starting to realize that my fitness is a lifelong journey not just till vacation time. I’ve come a long way since a year ago and the last two months with jake have been so significant! All my “woman areas” that I thought would never change like hips are super lean and my legs are becoming strong and shapely. And and feel hella-good.
See you all on Sunday.

Weight: 108.6
Last week 108.0
