Zach Khan's Arms Bigger Than Heath's?

Just to add to this too, humungo legs were not the ideal in 60’s-70’s, back also wasn’t a huge focus. In the end Arnold had the perfect physique for his era, it’s actually shameful that he is being disgraced on these forums, the shit is retarded, all in all, as an individual, Arnold is the most successful person that has been a bodybuilder, and a damn good bodybuilder at that.
Agreed, and to take it a step further, if bigger legs and a bigger back were the standards of the era, I think Arnold would have had bigger legs and a bigger back.
Arnold was a beast from a pretty young age (I posted a video in the Performance section a while back called Arnold’s Transitions that showed him being pretty huge as a young guy)… I also remember him mentioning that at his peak he wasn’t actively working to pack on slabs of muscle but instead simply refine the package he built to fit what his concept of the ideal physique was.

He was also quite young by today’s standards - what, 27 or so? - in Pumping Iron. While we can only speculate how big he could have gotten had he trained and ate with today’s standards and technologies, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to assume he wouldn’t be getting smoked on most stages.

That being said, it IS a little premature to be calling Kai the next Arnold. In the context of stage presence, maybe it is valid, but Arnold’s charisma went way beyond competitions. Saying Kai stands besides Arnie both in terms of accomplishments and influence is pretty ridiculous.

Coming back to the subject of the OP, Zack Khan, I was very pleased to see him on stage with all the big names. Will he be doing any major shows in the USA?

pfft, since when has bodybuilding been about physiques?
I think homophobics and pure haters will get in the way.

yes, flex is a bit bubble gum compared to md, but kai is doing the right thing signing w/ weider. why be part of a team who’s just brought the 2009 mr. o on board. the too many cooks in the kitchen ideology is the case now at md.

Phil didn’t get robbed either, he was better conditioned but that doesn’t mean he beat mr. greene. phil wouldn’t, shouldn’t, and cannot beat kai 9 out of 10 outings.
you’re not giving Phil enough credit.
Phil has to get wider, that’s why Cutler looked so far away from the others in 2009, besides his conditioning. If his lats stand out more in LS and FDB poses, he’ll be a definite menace.

BTW, talking about subjectivity, what do ya’ll think about Branch Warren’s 2nd placing in that year? IMO that decision was totally off. He trains hardcore and everything, but he isn’t “even” better than Dexter physiquewise.

IMO his conditioning was great, absolutely amazing. But he just isn’t as pretty as quite a few other people.

I think his conditioning is what placed him so high, but no way on earth, IMHO he should have placed above Dex last year, no way.

I work with two BBers who were messed up (in a physique sense) last year by Zacks’ prep guru.

They are both far more happy (and big, full, lean with less lagging bodyparts) working with me than they were working with that guy, even though he charges 4 x what I do!

Nice to be appreciated and to know you can do a better all round job than someone who looks after a guy who stands on stage with the top BBers of the moment.

Mind you, I have 3 guys who I think can go pro working under me at the moment.

Anyway, I was encouraged to email Zach and offer my services, by some people that know him. Alas, i was informed by a friend of his (one of my BBers) that he is tied into a contract with his prep guru to give him a % of his show winnings.

Shame.

BUT, I recently met and advised a guy who has competed at the olympia before (saw pictures - amazing). He was on the cusp of going full-pro (i.e. making his living from the sport), but his head went and he got into the party scene.

He wants to compete again and I’m considering offering him my sevices for free, just to show all the oldschool BBers in the area, what a more modern approach might look like.

He did have bigger legs and back when he first came to the states. That is when he looked his best IMO. He did not look as good later on such as in “Pumping Iron”. And anyone who thinks he deserved the 1980 win needs their head examined.

Was sick when he was doing robot movements

I like how the topic of the thread is Zack Khan and Phil Heath yet most of the discussion in here has been about Kai, starting from the FIRST POST, lol. Just further proves the point that his antics really make him stand out. Anytime he was on screen I was focused on him, though I may be a bit biased being a big Kai fan.

i thought kai’s routine was awesome. its pretty amazing to see someone that big be able to move like that.

lol yeah man, in fact Zach isn’t so popular. Kai could be like Floyd Mayweather, even though some love him and others hate him, he could be at the top and stand out, even though I personally think he is the center now.

I’m not surprised you did a good job with those guys, mate. It’s a shame to hear that he’s locked into a contract like that, it doesn’t raise my opinion of prep gurus at all!

I’d be interested to know who your new client is, but I guess that might not be something you can talk about.

Lol @ the guy between 1:23 and 1:25 “What the fuck?”

Kai has my respect for skipping around on stage to lady gaga while in a Mexican wrestler mask.

I must disagree.

Moon walking, break-dancing… great. Save it for a Break-dancing competition.

I think Kai has a great physique on stage, but his routines really just look dumb. And I’m sure if he keeps going on like that, he definitely will not be seeing the top 3 at the O any time soon. Look at some of the last couple replies!

“Kai has my respect for skipping around on stage to lady gaga while in a Mexican wrestler mask.”

“Can you even do the moves that he does? Can you moonwalk? Can you breakdance? Could you do it on stage in front of hundreds of people?”

Bodybuilding’s future is now a mix between “Dancing with the Stars” and WWE Mucha Lucha.

Bodybuilding is judged on many factors:

a) Physique Development
b) Conditioning
c) Correct Mandatory Poses
d) Competitor’s own routine properly displaying muscular development.
e) Posedown

and many other factors in for the final score.

Skipping around with a luchador mask on to lady gaga?

Do yourselves a favor and google “The clueless competitor”+bodybuilding

I think that Kai is a risk taker. Risk takers can hit it or being wiped. If he exaggerates his movements more than right now, which he has been doing gradually, he could be thought as “the best poser of all time” or “a clown”, or whatever you wanna call it.

But I think it’s too soon to judge that, given that he has many years ahead competing in the O, ceteris paribus. You can’t deny he is in the bullseye with Cutler and Heath.

It looked to me that regardless of the “what the fuck” comment before he took his clothes off, that the entire room was with him by the end of his routine during that encore.

I tend to think that says something because people were obviously moving in the other direction beforehand.

King Kamali was known for “artistic” presentations as well but no one EVER spoke favorably of him or his routines.

You can get away with a hell of a lot when your progress backs up whatever shit you are selling…and let’s face it, Kai is pretty damn impressive.
