Tricep Tear?

So 4 months ago, I started having shoulder problems which I’m pretty sure resulted from a workout where I, very stupidly, became over zealous with weighted dips/skullcrushers. The shoulder injury started to subside but my elbow started to become very painful when doing any pressing movements or tricep excercise (inlcuding very light pushdowns). I figured it was a tricep injury/inflammation so I stopped any pressing excercises or direct tricep training. I was already taking fish oil and would take some Ibuprofen when the pain was very painful.

Over the past 4 months, I was trying to slowly reintroduce pressing movements but wasn’t very successful. Anyways, last week I went to an orthoscopic surgeon and he said the elbow was fine but I had a tricep tear. He put me on Lodine (an anti-inflammatory) and sent me home. He suggested physical therapy which might be a pain to do while I’m at school. So my question is has anyone suffered from something similar to this/any suggestions to help? I understand that I probably fucked myself over trying to lift before it was completely cured but it’s been 4 months, I’m starting to get pissed this thing is still bothering me.

If you want to get back to training ASAP, you’re gonna need to suck it up and make time for physio. At least that’s what i’d do. The faster you jump into the healing process the faster you come out. Btw you should try icing to help with the inflammation and pain also. Anyway, that’s just my opinion. I’m sure some much more experienced guys will chime in soon.

I tore my left triceps last summer doing heavy overhead dumbbell extensions. It was a bad tear and I had huge swelling and discoloration for a few weeks. I iced it for the first 24 hours and after about three days rest I got some A.R.T. from my chiropractor.

Since then I trained around it and still trained the triceps of my good arm (which makes me think it sped the healing process for my torn side).

Five weeks after the injury I was training my bad arm again and within another 2 to 3 weeks the strength was equal to my non-injures side.

Oddly enough it is now my stronger than my right arm and I’m right handed.

There is light at the end of the tunnel. I say keep massaging it.
