Had a flyer on the c&j today. I’ve had a revelation that I’ve simply not been keeping my body tight enough when jerking and this has lead to a loose lock out and a lot of missed lifts or press outs.

Snatch 80 3x2
C&j 100x1 110x1 115x1 120x1 125x1 110x1+1
Front Squat worked up to 160x1

Actually figure out that it isn’t my wrists that have been playing up but the area between the four finger and thumb. Still hurting more on the left hand than the right and is affected my snatches pretty badly, hence no heavy ones for a while.

I’m still keeping my hands a bit wider on the C&J and there are no problems wth my wrists on this. I was thinking of attempting 130kg (which I think I could easily have gotten) but I thought I’d stick at 125 and finish on a buzz then push on again in a few weeks. I’ve no comps coming up for ages so I don’t want to push to hard and have my technique breakdown again.

Fingers crossed for more days like this… just without the dodgy hand

Lifting at Home.

Pullup Ladders:
1,2,3,4,5,4,3,2,1,1,2,3,4,5,5,4,3,3,

I would have kept going but I started to get real hungry

Curls to finish off
1set.

Lifting in Bmore with dfreezy!

Snatch:
-up to 72kg! Thats +2kg from last week, -8kg from my best :frowning:
—dfreeze pointed out that when I would cut my pull (go on my toes too early) I would shrug (making me go really fast under)
----But when I didn’t cut my pull, I would forget to shrug (going down was slower)
----Gotta time that better.

Snatch pull of boxes:
-did a fuck load of sets with this.
-went from 60kg, up to 95kg
–I noticed, however, that with 90kg+ I could not keep my shoulders over the bar as long as I would have liked. As soon as the bar got passed the knee my back would shift vertically up.
—Guess that means more Snatch grip RDLs and upper back work.

Walking Lunges:
-with maybe 40kg, and 50kg.
10-15 steps 4sets.

Planks.

GO HOME!!!

I’m in the north east, so bradford is a bit of journey.

I’m afraid the only club I know in the North is Ashington and that’s way past Redcar (I presume that’ were you live form the rugby pictures). Some really good lifters at that club as well, but that’s not much help either. Sorry :-((

Training in PA with main coach.

Clean & Jerk: up to 87kg (missed the jerk because I went on my toes)
-Coach reminded me to NOT lock my knees as I come off the floor.
-Coach told me Shuffle More.
—that way I have more time to shrug under AND receive the bar an erect torso.

After this coach said I should compete in the meet. Even if I don’t hit any PRs he said I was in good enough shape and should lift.

Clean pulls: up to 100kg
-Played a little more with my starting position-
-Noticed that NOT locking my knees as I come off the floor is very unconfortable, but the bar FLIES! Coach said I just needed to get used the correct position.

Jerk Supports: Split Style!
-So had me do Jerk Supports with a split style to see what my problem was. (Since April '08 I Power Jerk)
-I was actually doing them pretty good.
-So coach said after the meet on Saturday, I need to train Split Jerks & stop Power Jerking.

Go to Work :frowning:

…later that day…

Lifting at the Univ Gym.

Hang Clean Pulls: (off the power rack)
-up to 105kg.
–after doing these my hamstrings/calf/quads felt really loose. When I would mimic the extension I was really streching them up.

RDLs: up to 105kg.
-focusing on keeping my back straight, my scapulas retracted, and my knees slightly bent.
–this was hard yo.

Power Jerks:
-up to 93kg (205lbs).
–the first 93kg was a pressout, 2nd one was SOLID.

Wind shield wipers:
(happy that I could do 3sets of them

Stretch & GO HOME!

Good luck to everyone who has a meet tommorow!

Eh, not so great today…inconsistent lifting.

Missed first attempt at 77, got it on the second try, then did 80 pretty easily. Good stuff there–8kg competition PR.

Clean and jerk was crap though. Made 98 for first attempt, then fucked up 102 twice on the jerk, which is usually very strong for me. Cleans felt easy, but apparently I’m kicking my rear leg back too far, and not stepping out far enough with the front leg, so it feels like my split is nice and deep, but the net effect is that the weight is left out in front.

I will correct the problem this week at camp. First day of doubles tomorrow!

First meet for me, had alot of fun

Snatch

77 went up like nothing. 82 same. Got 85 up but lost it trying to get out of the hole.

Clean and Jerk

95 piece of cake. 100, clean was easy, red lighted for pressing. same for third attempt.

Gotta go back to the drawing board for jerks, I’m pretty much power jerking 100 with ease, so I’m planning to hit 110 before the next meet. Snatches, I just need practice to gain confidence in the hole.

200 total at Ogopogo. I called it.

When’s ogopogo? I’ll race you.

yeah man, your back leg was FLYING backwards. I got some interesting pictures of you and neo. Theres a few of neo with 90kg overhead trying to squat jerk i think haha.

So for me, my day was on and off. Weighed in at 97.3 (or was it 97.73? w/e). And I was the heaviest in the 105’s! So started off pretty good in the snatchs in the warmup room.

Snatch Attempts :
70 - power fucking snatch, 3 white lights
75 - tried to place it in the position, missed it slightly in front
75 - same damned thing as last one. :frowning:

Clean and Jerks
90 - crushed it, almost lost the jerk because I threw it so damned hard. Gold Medal 105 class.
93 - clean felt pretty rough, jerk was easy. 1kg Clean and jerk PR, 1KG total PR
95 - easy clean, easy jerk. 3kg Clean and Jerk PR, 3kg Total PR

Total - 165kg. Gold in the 105’s at the Garden State Games Championship of the Worlds. Improved on last years Bronze medal in the 94’s. Next year I’ll be defending champion. Sounds good doesn’t it?

sneaky - you totaled, right? Good job man.

to neo - you looked good in the warmup room and on the platform, one word for the clean’s though, there’s a thing to be said about slow and controlled off the floor. I think you need to be much faster off the floor, seems like your positions are damned good, but its so slow to your knee’s. I don’t know if thats your coach telling you that, or if thats just how your body wants to lift.

I say that about your coach because I saw some coachs there telling people to squeeze slowly off the floor and having the lifters go WAY to slow. This is a fast sport! As coach nick (the meet director) says, Fast… FASTER! Go as fast off the floor as you can keeping your position. at least, thats how I’ve been taught.

It’s mid to late august.

The race is on my friend.

Hey romanaz I think I saw you taking pictures. I was the only noob there lol, it was my first meet.

Lifting 2x a day here in NJ.

10am Dynamic Warmup:
-about 15minutes of warming up with lunges, side lunges, and stuff.

Noon Section:

Snatch: up to 65kg
-Technique pointers:
(1) When u set to pull and are holding the bar, contract your lats. As if pulling on the bar.
(2) At the starting position have the bar lined up behind your toes.
(3) Then raise your hips, raise your hips more (getting uncomfortable at this point)
—Is hard to tell this last tip, is something you gotta see/feel and you need a good coach to point out where your hips should be.

Snatch pulls: up to 70kg.

Abs

Quick Stretch

5:30pm Section:

Clean and Jerks: up to 72
-Technique pointes:
(1)Hips higher, hips higher, thus shoulder infront of the bar.
—again you need a coach to point this out to you, and it is uncomfortable.
(2)A little faster off the floor,
(3)When you shrug don’t tuck chin in, keep the head neutral.
(4)Front foot out a little more.
(5)Stay tight from your hips to your armpits right before the jerk.

Clean Pulls: up to 81

Front Squats:
—Was told to use the same stance I land on when I clean and snatch. Now my snatch/clean stance (after you shuffle out) is wider than my front/back stance. This made the front squats much harder.

Foam Roll,

Stretch & go EAT!

who were you? Should have introduced yourself man! Did you lift? I might have shots of you, maybe lol.

LOL, I feel bad for not realizing that Neo is in the camp with me. I will have to introduce myself today.

Don’t really care to log yesterday’s training, but key points:

Too much back, too little legs–I am hyperextending, giving myself the illusion of speed in the snatch and the clean, but not really moving the bar that fast. I also tend to bang my hips into the bar pretty hard (product of the first problem, I think), causing some swing.

Correcting this proved easier in the clean than the snatch, though neither are anywhere near fully fixed. Going to try to bring what I learned in the clean last night to the snatch today–nice solid PUNCH with the feet through the floor at the power position.

I doubt it lol, I was doing baby weights. I had the bright orange singlet.

29/06/09

trained on my own… again! Decided not to snatch tonight to give my hand a bit of a rest.

C&J 55x3
70x3
85x3
100x2
110x1
115x1
120x1
125x1
130x0 - clean it but then felt dizzy and dumped the bar
130x1 - absolute peach. Realy nailed the jerk which has always been my big problem

continued to do a far more clean - did 135x1 but then missed 140 twice

Snatch Pull - 100 4x3 - trying to concentrate on not pulling with the arms - but a few were a bit dodgy

Back Squat - up to 170 2x2

Sweat a bucket load tonight. I need to get myself some decent vest and long shorts!

6/29/09

Continued working on bar path and establishing a more vertical second pull, with a good deal more success than yesterday. Snatch and C&J in the morning, power snatch from the high hang and 3-position pulls in the evening. Power snatched 70 for one from the hang, and 65 for two from the high hang. Good day. Contrast shower, food, sleep are on the schedule for this evening.
