I filled up the old log with my last post, so here’s the new one.
yep. so that your palm would face towards your head/ceiling. it helped me and just overall pulling the bar with the arms slightly more towards the body.
First comp this year, was kinda nervous.
Snatch 65x, 70, 73x
CJ 78, 85, 90
Got a new comp snatch PR (70), new comp c&j PR(90) and a new comp total PR(160).
BW was 69 kg.
Gotta work on a deeper squat position though
@lordstorm- ohhhhhh ok I thought you meant when the bar was on its way up to turn my wrists in toward my torso, but you mean more like when the bar has already passed my elbows to extend my wrists. I get it.
@lesfayes- good job on the PR’s man. you’re a better man than me, I still haven’t competed yet lol.
9/10/11 - Saturday
Snatch: 40x2, 60x2, 75x1, 87x1, 95x1, 102x0
C+J: 40x2, 65x2, 90x2, 102x1, 110x1, 120x0x0x0
FS: 100x3, 125x2, 140x1, 152x1, 157x0, 145x2x2
Snatch is feeling pretty good, no misses up till 102. First ever attempt at 102, pulled it strong but wasn’t man enough to go under it. Thought about taking another shot but I had kinda lost my mental edge so I decided to move on. Clean has been sucking something awful for like the last 5 sessions. I’ve started bashing the bar out to an absurd degree and can’t hold heavy attempts anymore I think I may be cutting the pull shorttt.
Front squats were solid. Solid 152, PR is 155. The 145’s are PR doubles.
Hey lesfayes I think we have a similar body structure (height and weight). I can gauge my progress to you.
no i meant as soon as its gone past the hip.

Weights felt heavy as f0ck off the floor today, didnt even try the 117 jerk, felt like it was pusing me into the floor. Actually felt heavier than 130. Not sure why. 3 days off and loss of neural drive maybe? or perhaps sundays mornings will suck forever more for me. I could still feel this Ab ‘problem’ on the second pull, not sure whats going on but it wasnt as bad as last time. Will see how squatting this eve goes. 4 weeks untill the next comp, 'cmon 240 total.
Ape-mate you really need to get yourself to a comp, it will do wonders for motivation and helping training.
don’t overthink it ed. I’ve heard talk of CNS fatigue as well but I doubt that was it after 3 days off. Probably was just a “bad” day. You still got a PB in the front squats!
Hi ed and ape, how much do you weigh?

Thx man. Not that my coach really lets me have a choice whether to compete or not

I will soon…maybe when I get back some confidence in my clean lol.
Paperclip- I’m about 73kg as of this morning
@lesfayes Good job at the comp
You gotta work on your snatches, I recommend snatches from bellow the knees… also… let your body tell you what starting position to take when you Snatch. It looks like you are imitating some top Chinese weightlifter rather than you lifting.
(don’t be surprised to see your starting position change over time as you get better and stronger, mine went from a static start with toes pointed out to a dynamic start with toes pointed straight)
My coach will give me a new routine tomorrow. We’ve been working on a starting position with hips higher. Just have to get used to it. I’m also trying to get used to the toes pointing straight forward by squatting with this position. I just can’t get into this position when I do the classic lifts.

Dang I have a lot of catching up to do, lol. It’s good to see another lifter in the same class category.

took a long labor day weekend, lifts this week felt sooooo sloooow, and NOT smooth, but lbs didn’t go down so i figure my strength is good. After reading a couple of Koing’s posts i realized my CJ catch involves my hands too much and worked on that with lighter weights. It was kinda cool to read it, cause he was talkin about the jerk and i applied what he was saying to my clean catch then tried it in the gym and could really feel the difference and will continue to work on that.

I’ve still got a ways to go too man. What are your PB’s?
LB- I always read your “40M sprints x 20” as “400M sprints x 20” and think holy shit that’s a lot! Hahaha and then I always re-read it and see that I added an extra 0. I must be dyslexic lol.

75/85kg snatch and c&j @ 72kg BW.
BTW If you manage to add 20kg more to your snatch than you’ll be pretty awesome!
Paperclip- I weigh 93 kgs. I should be lifting more, but my progress has been good so far.

Cool. That puts you in the same class category as Koing I guess.

Indeed, if I can get some good training in and get to some comps in the last few months of the year I should get to lift against him at the English championships.
