Oh shit :D, nice. I would love to see the video when available.
I guess you’re going to the meet in Albany in July?..hopefully I’ll be able to “compete” in that meet since I pretty much lifted for free in NJ to get a feel of the platform e.t.c…
Yes Chris is my coach.

nah, Albany is the New York Games or Empire State games right? Thats kind of like you lifting at the Garden State Games. I’m in this game for medals and to eventually qualify for nationals. NYC Open September 26th is my next meet. I’ll be an 85, and I’ll be doing 80/100 or better.

Ah okay. I just started but my goal is also to get as far as possible with the sport. I been training Olympic style for two months and got a 80kg c&j and my snatch was like 40kg. Really aiming for that 100kg c&j for the next meet. My snatch is poor so will be working on that.
I think I’ll be lifting at 85kg as well. I’m barely 82 so lets see what happens.

nice. Yeah, I’m hoping in 3-4 years to hit up nationals. American open in a 2-3 years. 100kg clean and jerk will be nice, with an 80kg snatch!

here is a shot of me pulling on 95kg

here is neospartan being pushed into a full squat from a powerjerk

Sneaky, I’ll post yours as soon as I get back to my harddrive later tonight.
in the mean time, heres a shot of chad becker, silver medal @ last years Nationals in the 94’s, just back from a break because of knee problems, snatching 140!?!

teammate Dan with 145kg clean, I believe this was a PR clean

another teammate Chris with 160, a split second before the collar’s loosened up and fell off, along with the plates.
he wasn’t to happy to say the least, he struggled for that clean only to lose it because the loader failed again (she was leaving plates on the platform, miss loading and not tightening the collar enough).

one of the younger kids, in his 3rd meet I believe, missing an easy lift for him.

one of the moorestown guys, Adam I think it was, cleaning 145 (he went on to do 155, but I missed it I think)
one of the girls, I believe from moorestown once again, with 94kg?
one hell of a lifter!
Those pictures are all sick man.
Nice pictures, man.
I’m not sure where Adam trains normally, but he’s been training with us at camp, and is just built for this sport from the ground up.
The girl trains in Moorestown regularly and, well…I’d eat cake off that ass. Unfortunately, she just got married, so I will have to be skeevy from afar.
Today: C&J up to 95kg for a double. As the weight got higher, pull retreated back to old mistakes. Slightly lower start position will help, and I need to do some pulls from the floor to the knees to strengthen my upper back off the floor.
Squat up to 120kg for two doubles. Presses from behind the neck in a jerk split.
Evening: Snatch up to 72kg for 3 singles. Nice and solid, good line of pull, very fast bar movement. Felt like a toy. Coach was a 3-time former Olympian. I was very eager to please.
C&J up to 80kg for 3 singles, much better pull.
3-position clean pulls.
Very good day.

He trains in MD and in PA with our coach. Damn those short people, they have it so good in this sport
Yeah, and he’s a fucking tank. I’ll just have to go up to 94kg, I suppose.

Snatch and front squat this morning. Snatch up to a max double–this was unbelievable. Hit 77kg–my opener at the meet on saturday, and a weight I’d only lifted a couple of times before for singles–for a double. Technique improvements are yielding some immediate dividends. Unfortunately, leg strength was down a little. Missed the second rep at 110kg, and decided to call it quits. Need more upper back strength.
Evening was light C&J up to 3 singles @ 85kg, then RDLs. Afterward, Leo said I needed some specific work on my first pull to improve back strength, so he set me up with my feet elevated on 15kg plates, with 100kg on the bar, pulling slowly to the knees, then a 2-second pause, then slowly back down again, maintaining good balance. BRUTAL. I clearly need to work on this more.
AHHH! So much shit these past few days… I can’t fucking post it all so here is a quick summary of pointers given:
(1)MORE Speed of the floor! Then POWERFUL legs for the explosion.
(2)Open up your chest before u drive for the Jerk.
(3)Drop down your hips a bit on when setting up for cleans.
(4)Your hips and shoulders start well but your hips are raising a little faster. Causing you to catapult the bar. (big loop)
Initially I was having a lot of problems with my Cleans. Due to me starting with my shoulders first, pulling back, and using my arms. This not only cuased me to miss lifts but I started getting an insane pain in my elbow joints. That has been fixed so no more elbow joint pain.
(5)Strong legs in the 2nd pull. Violent. And powerful shrug after.
(6)Ab training is kicking my ass! Shit I got a weak c.o.r.e.
Today July 1st 2009
-Cleans went much better than 2 days before. No pain.
-Snatches good, got 73kg. I know I can do more but my upper back isn’t quite up to it, and I am raising my hips a little bit faster.
-Jerks… iffy… I am getting a lot of shoulder and scapula pain making me hesitate a bit.
-Front Squats kicking ass. 110kg for 2x. Missed 115kg.
I also found a new way to set up for my clean that helped me a lot today. 1st stand up in position as if doing a high pull. Feeling how the feet are and weight is distributed squat down and grab the bar.

had a lot of personal crap going on today so didn’t really feel like lifting, but went anyway, more to clear my head than anything.
Snatch - worked up to 90 3x2 -wrists were feeling a bit better, but still not right.
Power Clean & Jerk 80 5+3x3 - mainly just concentrating on trying to finish in a strong position for the jerk.
Front Squat - 150 2x6 - was actually trying for 7 reps on both sets but my upper back was giving out, which coupled with my dodgy wrists meant that I couldn’t muscle it up, even though my legs didn’t feel too bad.
Sneaky, just out of interest what technique changes have you made?
I usually find that I can change my technique when coached but find it really difficult to maintain the changes when I’m on my own.
Weighty–
I’ve been pulling with way too much low back, trying to whip the bar around rather than drive it UP. This is mostly related to my first pull and start position–I’ve been setting up too low and straight over the bar, rather than with my hips higher and shoulders just slightly in front. Making this change has enabled me to get my knees out of the way properly and get the bar into the power position with good balance, where before I’d end up behind the bar and have to come up on my toes early, pushing the bar out and getting a lot of swing in the second pull.
The difference is remarkable; I felt like I was moving faster before (probably because the large amount of torso whip was telling my inner ear that I was), but now I can feel how much faster the BAR is moving, and I’m getting down quicker as a consequence of a more forceful pull.
I have a great coach regularly available, so I tend to be able to maintain changes in technique. I think I will try to solidify these changes for a while, and make my next project learning the dynamic start.

AM: Snatch up to 70kgx1x2, front squat+jerk up to 90kgx(2+1)x2, DB presses in a split
PM: Power clean (high hang)+push jerk up to 75kgx1x3
Clean pulls (high hang) in two waves up to 95kgx3x2
Easy day, nice and fast. I like that my 1RM from January is now a weight I can do for easy reps after 6 days of twice-a-day workouts. Intra-camp competition tomorrow!
