New PR's Part 2

got up to 225 for two singles on bench after finally getting around to training the bench seriously, lol.

285X5 Wide stance squat with more left in me
225X8 sumo stance SLDL with slow eccentric and pause at bottom
240X4 trips farmer walks 270X8 trips with straps

That’s from today.

Quote my post to the see the link to my squats. To be honest I should have went up to 295 that day.

Hit a solid 110kg meet-legal bench, with people giving me commands and judging my form.

Ehh… Double post, but another pretty decent PR today.

Pulled 200kg for a couple of doubles (beltless).

Also have noticed recently, people are starting to ask me if I’m natural! It’s kind of weird, but until somebody asks you that question, you don’t really think about what a loaded question it is.

Still behind me I see.

My natural status was questioned a month ago. Although in a joking way… I think…

245X2 narrow grip bench press

everything else was me upping total volume, or something I don’t want to share. (like barbell curls, or band pull aparts  )

10 honest pull-ups at a bw of 225lbs. First time in my life I got 10.

Did two more sets (8 and 7), and then got 10 wide grip and 8 narrow grip chins.

The first time I actually got asked that (in a totally serious way, that is) was earlier this year, but now it seems to be getting to be more common that people think I’m on the juice. I remember when I was in high school, everybody saying I was on the juice when I came back with a 6-pack after one summer of “working out” (i.e. curls, DB bench, sit-ups, and cardio). I didn’t even know you had to eat to get bigger LOL. Fortunately, you definitely have a much better handle on things than I did at that age.

If I was on the juice, I’d be so much stronger, though sigh.

Push press 75kg 3x3 (quite easy, could’ve done a 5-6 rep set if I had to), followed by strict press of 50kg x10. Not too shabby considering that I did some heavy benching beforehand.

I’m really happy I decided to switch strict pressing for a mix of strict and push pressing. My numbers are starting to go up again and I never felt a burn like this in my delts the next day for strict pressing!

330X2 full sumo deadlifts (and 340X2 that I can’t really count)
200X10 hip thrusts
240X6 trips farmer walks 270X11 trips with straps farmer walks

Not technically PRs, but I hit some solid numbers on all my big 3 within one day when I tested out my planned 2nd attempts for my meet next week. Last day of heavy lifting. Lifts were done to IPF standards with commands.

Squat 165kg
Bench 110kg
Deadlift 215kg

Looks like my plan for peaking worked, since these are all very close to my maxes. First time trying ammonia too. It’s interesting stuff.

Good luck.

Also what is the ammonia like? Something inside of me says it is a really fucking bad idea for myself (I have asthma).

Got 175kg for 5 on pulls last week, 4 rep PR, then worked up to 185kg for a single.

Took me long enough. Training deadlifts weekly is helping them come up, I’m hoping to get 200kg in a mock meet around Christmas

Me and my wife both set some nice PRs this weekend at The SPF Record Breakers.

525 Squat

565 Deadlift

Squattinmachine’s 255 Squat at 145lbs Body Weight

Squattinmachine’s 260 Deadlift

Thanks

It’s about what I expected. It’s a very acrid smell that kind of burns your nostrils. It burned the most the first time because I wasn’t sure exactly how strong it would be and held it a little too close for a little too long lol. But it totally works. It’s almost like the sort of shocked feeling you get when you get a sudden splash of cold water in your face.

Probably a good idea to avoid it or at least check with a doc first. It is a respiratory stimulant, so it’s probably not something you would want to mess with if you have a respiratory problem unless you get it cleared by a doc first.

@Reed:

I was shaking my head when I saw it was an SPF meet, but that squat was actually very nice! What did your total look like?

EDIT: Kristi’s squat looks good and deep too!

85kg powerclean - it’s deload week and I felt like messing around, hardly ever do these. 10kg PR over the last one I did in Jully 2012

Incline benched 185x4

270 lb back squat… damn im weak compared to so many people here. I was feeling cock because im the strongest one in my weight class of almost 60 people by alot… but its not that im strong, everyone else is just weaker than i am.

I don’t really know how to quantify anything with the layer training. It’s a lot of volume, and it’s all scaled to daily explosive maxes.

Slight Incline Bench from Pins
94 reps at 70%+
45 at 80%+
22 at 90%+

Whatever that actually means.

From a volume standpoint, that’s something of a PR.

Guys is that a correct squat?
267 ibs x 2 squat ?

Hey guys!
is that a correct squat ?

Iman just a few tips take em or leave them I mean no offense.

  1. Your walk out is absolutely horrendous and is wasting a ton of energy you could be using in the squat.
  2. Your depth is about 3in to high even by the loosest of powerlifting standards.
  3. Your falling forward on to your toes.
  4. Your knees are caving inward.

lower the weight and focus on form.
