New PR's Part 2

Haven’t made it my log past few days been busy busy busy. PRs this week.

Back Squat 410 for 11 unwrapped

Very Close Bench 230 for 12 easyish

Barbell Curl: 135 for 14

Front squat - 165 for 3x8. I feel like a little kid, as low as that number may sound. I could have done more but 3x8 was my goal and the last reps felt a bit more sloppy than the first ones.

Also, 125 for 4x8 DB bench - not a PR per se but the way they flew up kinda makes it one. I’ll get 130 next week!

Also, I’ll call this preemptively… I’ll deadlift 270 for 3x6 on friday.

Bench 300x1 I’ve hit this once before but it was awhile ago, also the rep was ugly but I still got it up.

100kg x 3 paused bench, after the other 9 sets

Real crappy day for strength, and I couldn’t bear to quit early (even though I know I probably should LOL), so I decided to go for some reps and hit a rep PR. Not bad for 5hrs of sleep and missing my PWO caffeine for the first time in a couple of months.

Incline bench: 155lbs x 14

Bench, high pins, moderate incline. (Upper arms stay at/above parallel because of shoulder issues.)

175 x 1. Previously 170.[/quote]

170 x 3. 3 rep PR, TnG.

Then, later.

Olympic Press
115 x 1

Default PR. Trying to learn a proper double-layback olympic press. The timing seems pretty tricky. Drive hips forward to bend the back, then straighten up while pressing upwards, which propels the bar upward past the sticking point, then backbend again to a high-incline position and press from there until lockout (at which point you’ll be upright).

Today’s deadlift day but the only PR I will set is the number of tissues I’ll use… **** this cold.

New squat PR this morning 330# for a single…love seeing everyone else get strong too…especially @Reed you are a big motivation

125kg x 2 front squat, 1 rep PR at this weight, but my max is 135kg so that’s a decent disparity

Got 135 in the olympic style press; this is a 20lb PR from yesterday’s 115.

However, my PR in the “press” is 130, so this is a real PR. This is the most I’ve pressed overhead without leg drive.

Great squat!

Best part is how you do it with no fanfare at all, making it look really easy for you.

@magick Thanks!! Yes, I’m a very stoic in general…but after this I was very happy on the inside

X2. Impressive as hell.

High bar squat: 5 x 5 x 130kg (beltless), then 2 x 5 x 130kg (belted)
Leg press dropset: 8 plates x 11 → 7 plates x 5 → 6 plates x 3

585 for 1 set of 1, and 1 sets of 2. Didnt get the second set which suck because it was a bad ass looking set on camera.

585 for 2 is absolutely freaking beastly, Reed!!!

Had the best workout I’ve ever had today. I was crazy strong today, and PR’d on every lift except one (but I was suffering from being rushed for time on this one or I probably would’ve PR’d), major and minor. Some highlights:

BTN press: 2 x 8 x 55kg
Arnold press: 10 x 50lbs
Alt DB curls: 50lbs for 2 sets of 9 and one set of 7, absolutely freaking insane since I could only do the 50s for one set of 5 two weeks ago.
Skullcrushers: 10 x 110lbs
And perhaps most importantly… I closed the CoC #2!!! (right hand only)

Pause bench 92.5kg x 5 after 6 x 5 with only the last rep paused each set.

lols still not happy about my lift so i wont share it but squat went up 10 kilos from last week :).

dat noob gains
dat progressive overload
dat new diet doing wonders (never felt better?

How do you like these? Do you do these standing? How far do you bring the bar down?

I was doing these standing for awhile, liked them a lot. I used to do them pretty much from just under the ears up. The one time I loosened up and lowered them further left me with impingement issues for 6 months (which seem to be healing almost miraculously now though, thanks to utlra-high rep lightweight shoulder work.)

Even so, I still think they’re awesome.

365x1 back squat 15 LB PR

285 x 1 Squat (18lbs PR)
140 x 1 Press (5lbs PR)

The squat specialization program worked. Increased my 1RM from 235 to 285 in a month.
