I hit a new gym PR in bench last night on my 1+ week with 325 for an ugly 2, morning weigh in 153. It was my first time ever trying that much weight. I know the form critics will shit a brick if they watch the video, but I could care less. This is my way of overload…some use bands, or board presses, or slingshots. To each his own. My competition lifts are steadily increasing, so that is all that matters. I hit a double at 295 paused after this ugly fiasco.
115kg front squat triple. Pretty easy. I’m running Smolov Jr for bench at the moment, and the only lower body stuff I’m doing is front squats twice a week, hitting an easy set of 3-5 each time. Hoping to rep 125kg by the end of the 3 weeks, which should be doable.
Bench, high pins, moderate incline. (Upper arms stay at/above parallel because of shoulder issues.)
175 x 1. Previously 170.
285 for an easy single, probably had 295 but I’ll hit it easy next week. Sorry about the angle, told the guy to step back but he was clueless.
Vid
BTN press: 55kg x 7, 50kg x 10
Arnold press: 50lbs x 9
Bench - 90kg x 5 paused - last set of the day for Smolov Jr so after a bit of volume
Front squat - 120kg x 3 - 5kg PR
Squat - 180kg x 1 - 20kg beltless PR, belted PR matched. Ugly though.

Heavy is heavy in my book. Nice.
Barbell rows 155 6x6
Bench
4x8 with 200 volume pr
Bent over rows: 225 x 10 for a few sets
YO REED…I know squat one day a week using 60% and doing 5x5, so if I am doing this should I just run the same weight for 6ish weeks, work up to a heavy single, take 60% and start over or what? Thanks

Just depends on how you feel I dont take many singles at all in the off season man. I much prefer a taking a ME 5 if I’m going to max. Usually dont even do that. My progression looks more like…
Week 1: 300 2x5, 1x As many as possible. If I get atleast 5 then next week I shoot for 2x6 or 2x8 and as many as possible.
Week 2: 300 2x8, 1x all out. Once I get 3x8 atleast ill go up 10%
Week 3: 330 2x3, 1x all out. And continue to climb that way.
Volume builds conditioning, technique, strength, and confidence. I only take heavy singles, doubles and triples as I get closer to a meet.

… Was this a joke lol… I have had a log for over year lol… Its called Reeds Log.
Haha, you never post there, anyway i’ve been training like this for a couple weeks with the squat, and today with the bench, and it’s got me focusing on form for a change, rather than PRs. I really like it, and it’s a nice change.
Today 5x5x275 in the bench, paused and perfect reps, I think this is a tonnage PR, I’m going to start keeping track of my tonnage moved on a lift, rather than going for a max PR on one set. This way I can keep perfect form, and just go for tunnage with max sets of 5 withing a 25 min time limit Thanks Reed
I got this by what you said combined with how Nera does it, I saw he got 9 sets of 5 in 25min, with 525 in the squat, can ya fuckin imagine !
Lol Nera is a damn monster
I’ll have to look…i just checked out your hub and I didn’t see one
