- YouTube

Death By Board Press: Chest/ 3 Board/ 5 Board
230 for 6/5/2

chin ups for reverse 21s (cheers Ben Bruno)
incline bench 115x10 with a few left in the tank. Yeah, tell me I suck.

Front squats 205x3 small PR but still a PR

550 for 2. I seriously thought I was going to get stapled here and it was one of the easiest squats I have ever taken but, I psyched myself out. I planned on barely grinding 1 but it was so easy I took another and was just as easy. I should have hit 3 and 4 with a grind was possible but, this wassupposed to be a easy session so I just racked it at 2.

My PRs:
Bench: 100kg x 6
Skullcrushers: 110lbs x 7
Left arm: 16.75" (cold, flexed). People have been commenting all over the place about how my arms have exploded in size since the start of the year (were a little under 16"). Now that I’m getting so close to my longtime goal of 17" guns, I have come to realize that 17" is nowhere near big enough for me. I can see how this is addictive stuff…
Can I ask what you did to cause the increase?
Nothing really groundbreaking: it mostly came about as a result of frequency, I think. In Jan, I switched to a 4-day split (and been bulking which definitely helped, though my arms are still growing though my weight has not been for the past few weeks - fine by me), with 3 of those days involving upper body training and some amount of direct arm work. For direct arm work I’ve been starting with heavy training and finishing with a light, high rep exercise for the pump (I really like one-arm cable curls/pressdowns for this). I like leaving with an arm pump. I’ve also made arm size goals and benching numbers (but especially arms) my focus of late. Focusing on one thing at a time seems to be a really good way to work towards goals quickly. My overall pressing volume per week has also increased substantially.

Take what I say with a grain of salt though. I got a bit lucky in the bodybuilding genetics department (not so much in strength  ), so I’m one of those guys who blows up as soon as they touch a weight. Ergo, I can’t guarantee this will work for everyone.

Kind of curious to work in occlusion training to what I’m doing now to see if that will do anything extra. Yes, it’s official: I’m becoming a BBer lol.

140# Touch and Go Reps on Bench…2nd set…did 4x7

Pulled 350 easy, following 325 for one.

Bottom’s Up Dead Start Pin Squats
285 @ Pin 6 - 20lb PR
385 @ Pin 7 - 10lb PR (had more in me but called it)
Skipped Pin 8

Pin 6 is about an inch or so above parallel. Pin 7 is basically a “half squat”.

started eatin clean about two weeks ago already hit two PRs,
flat bench 285lbs for 2
clean and press 200lbs for 2

Rack pulls: 240kg x 3 from just above the knee. That’s 40kg over my deadlift max, which just confirms to me that I have no business whatsoever doing rack pulls

That’s crazy. I do mat pulls, and I find them just about as hard as pulling from the floor. Probably a good thing to work on for me lol.

PRs of the day:

Bench: 100kg x 7
Incline bench: 2 x 8 x 185lbs, 12 x 155lbs
Skullcrushers: 8 x 110lbs

front squat 160 for 3x6. Default PR; I could have done more but I felt pretty awful.

Front squat 205x5 that’s a 2 rep PR hopefully in a couple weeks ill be hitting 225 for 5 or more.

Well…

Same lift.

315 @ Pin 6 - 30lb PR (Up 50 since last week)
405 @ Pin 7 - 30lb PR (Up 40 since last week)

Kind of weird.

This was my 3rd squat session in the last 24 hours. First one, I didn’t have enough time to do overloads since I lifted late and didn’t want to wake the neighbors last night. So I ramped to a 2RM, 1RM and stopped.

Second session was over lunch, and I just planned badly. Needed to get back to work. Again, ramped to a 2RM, 1RM.

So I was pretty fresh (~5 hours since my last “max” squat). But still weird.

This “squat every day” thing is making me question a whole lot of stuff I thought I understood about recovery. Squatting 6 days a week, 5 of them to a daily max, for 3 weeks straight… and still setting PRs, and still able to walk.

220lb 1rm deadlift beltless at 147lb bw. I’m not into 1rm’s ill probably do it again in about 6 more months, aiming for double bodyweight deadlift.

I bet you can get a lot more than that in 6 mo if you do it right. Not doing 1RMs a whole lot is a good idea. Good luck!

My PRs:
Oly squat: 4 x 5 x 127.5kg, 6 x 127.5kg
Leg press (dropset): 9 x 8 plates → 4 x 7 plates → 3 x 6 plates → 3 x 5 plates → died
Ab rollouts (from toes): 8 @ 192lbs BW

Back Squat PR from last night 305# for 3. I think I could have gotten one more but very happy with these

I agree with all of this, especially with the part I bolded.

You’d be best to not pay attention to anything I’m doing at this point. Seriously.
