Definitely utility in both approaches. I like super strict for the hamstrings, and I like Randall’s approach when I’m just trying to create ridiculous physical changes
Under all that exhausting work, just keeping count would be challenge enough.
So the answer is
No, yes no
With out squat or wait hack squat no yes no
Maybe you can no yes no maybe
Unequivocally yes
So
If you don’t squat your legs are doomed and f**ked
Unequivocally NO
The funny thing is
I said no squats and hack squats
And everyone is tallking about the hack squat so I come to the conclusion of I’m lost.
I’m only saying no hack squats as my gym doesn’t have the hack squat and most gyms in UK don’t
It has leg press, leg extension, smith machine and barbells and dumbbells (equipment needed for quad work)
And I’m not saying I can’t do squats was just posing the argument
I got fairly good legs without being able to squat.
How about giving us a pic of your legs so we can see what we’re working with?
I can post a pic if you want to see what I call fairly good legs. But you first.
Granted, I am only one person. I cannot tolerate hack squats at all. So, no squats or hack squats.
I’m just possing the question
I’m saying if my gym doesn’t have a hack squat machine it’s mandatory for my leg growth and to no be a total idiot just do regular squats
So what’s Ur workout
leg press
leg ext
leg curl
rdl
That’s what I do with added squats once a week
“Was” my workout. This was from 1976 thru 1979 that is the size I called fairly good size.
I said my workout in the first reply I made. The most important aspect was I worked up in quite a few sets to the near maximum weight on the leg press that I could do 3 sets of 10 reps. (Just know that I am moving a lot of weight.) The leg extensions and leg curls, I just did them. Absolutely nothing special and not super heavy, but still difficult (4 sets of 10 reps)
I did legs twice a week as part of a six day split (Bro-science in 1970’s)
You can get great results with those
I feel like the consensus generally is:
- no specific movement is mandatory
- most of us aren’t getting truly massive anything either way
6 days split 2 days of which are legs
Leg Day #1
Squats
RDL
Super Set : Extensions/Sissy Squats
Super Set: Seated Ham/Standing Ham
Leg Day #2
Bulgarian Split
Hack Squat
Leg Press
Heel Elevated Goblet Squats
Hip Thrusters
So you’re currently squatting but want to know if you can build massive legs without them? Why do you want to stop squatting?
As to your question, I’ve read the whole thread and agree that this pretty much sums it up.
Cuz I wanna cry after squats haha
But I haven’t stopped yet lol.
