And where did you play pro or semi pro ball???
I now realize your bball clips were from when you were older. As you alluded to, you were slow in those clips.

Keep plugging away at those numbers, man. As if you’re 30! Good shit, though.
Haha what’s up Bro! Yeah I ain’t getting any younger… Good to see you here too.
Thank you for the comment, and also thanks T-Nick!
Here is a vid from today. Push presses 120kg X 2. Nothing huge and so so technique but it’s still a personal best. - YouTube
Nice lift with the push press. Could you 300 for a single?
Fred, take a look at Kelly Baggets vertical jump development bible. It’s an excellent book, and it’s advice on those who need more reactive strength could be very useful to you. It seems like you have the max strength but could do with more work on things like plyometrics etc. to get upto that 40 inch mark. Kelly also has a lot of excellent articles on his website www.higher-faster-sports.com in case you didn’t know about any of this ![]()

Thanks man, yes I think I know that site. Very good articles about accumulation and intensification phases I recall. I believe the plyos is the bridge between strength and court athleticisms. It’s a must for reactive strength. But there are a lot to do in between too, Power Snatch, Power Cleans and jump squats, or band box squat. I will get to 40inches vertical at 220lbs. Thanks for the link.
HHAHAHAHA Thanks for the good laughs. I love guys like you… As you mention, you could, should, would… You were “incredible” in your time, you could jump “out” the gym… But unfortunately time has gone by… lol and there is no one left to back that up… Not even a damn picture? No camera yet at the time? Were you also dressed with prostitute shorts just like John Stockton’s?
Anyways I could go on and on but won’t waste my time with a former self-proclaimed playground legend…
Don’t blame the dunking cause the US sucks at international competitions… Who is the best player of all time? MJ and he could dunk no? Why no one watches women basketball? Cause they can’t dunk… It’s a huge part of the game.
I don’t have nothing to prove to you but I’ve played for my country’s national team, and ask the rookie of the chicago bulls if you really want to know where I played pro…

Forgive me, I just think there is way too much emphasis by the young guys on dunking. Yes, I could dunk in my prime, but I could flat out play too.[/quote]

I have power jerked 320lbs but I haven’t tried to push press more than 265lbs to this day. I will give it a shot in 3-4 weeks. I did them just after my board press too (3 reps @ 400).
Thanks for the comment!
i’m curious as to what you training schedule looks like, any info?

I mix it very often. Now I do it like that,
Day 1: Legs Heavy (Sumo Dead, powerclean from hang, Bands GM from deadstart, GHM)
Day 2: -
Day 3: Upper body Heavy (3-board press, Push press, Close grip bench from deadstart, Rowing and pulldown)
Day 4: Plyos and sprints
Day 5: -
Day 6: Legs Xplosive (Bands box squat, jump squats, bands step-ups)
Day 7: Upper body Xplosive (1-board TFS bench with green band behind back, Military from deadstart, tri’s, rows and bi’s)
Day 8: Plyos and sprints
Day 9: -
Day 10: start over

Well actually I played professional in Argetina as an American. Only 1 or 2 allowed per team depending on division. Had a free agent try out with the Hornettes in 91. Playground legend? You have me confused with someone else. Would you like to compare basketball resumes?
By the way, I was making a point - didn’t mean to offend you. But when you mentioned MJ, you illustrated some ignorance. For all his ups and dunks, MJ was one of the most technically and fundamentally sound playes in the league - he came out of NC remember? He actually knew how to play by the time they were done with him. So while your untrained European eye might be impressed with the dunks, you miss his fundamentals.
And finally, no, none of us danced around on the court and dunked for the camera. The only dunks that count are the ones in a game, in traffic, over someone. All that other stuff is great in the lay up line during warm up, but most of those guys sit the bench when the game starts.
Wow, thats a beautiful regimen.

Are you kidding? For your countries national team? And now I have to go find some un-named chicago bull rookie to know where you played pro? Ninja please, if those teams were so difficult to make, they wouldn’t be importing American players (all of which are rejects that couldn’t make the NBA or couldn’t hold on - myself included). And by the way, which country and which DIVISION?
Come here and kid someone that never played internationall and doesn’t know, but not to me.
And if you took offense to the original post, I apologize. And what was lost in my message, in your taking offense, ended up being true. No John, “dunking” is NOT part of the game in any appreciable aspect. I suggest you start watching some games and keep track of how many of 200 or so gross points on the night are attributable to dunks. Not many. Thank you for proving my point. I meant to make a point, not offend you.
I should have said something like; that jump shot of yours that starts at your waist is terrific - completely compliments your hops. I can definitely see you getting your own shot off in the league (NBA). The way you went left and had to finish right was remarkable. The behind the back dribble in front of the guy that wasn’t or couldn’t play defense was the ISH. The “strong” move to the right with the flip shot off the board after that flagrant foul was the stuff of ESPN high light films. And the circus shots were right out of the Globetrotters. You da ISH son. Again, where did you play “pro” ball again? What DIVISION?
Where did you read me say dunking was all MJ could do? I said he was the best player ever, and dunking contributed to his status. It’s a huge part of the game whether you like it or not. Or we would all watch WNBA…
Now while your double-faced ass bragged in another thread how you could touch the top of the square or dunk 360?, and how bad you would love to go back in time…you guess what… AIN’T happening!!! So keep hating on what you see all you want, but that’s only part of the equation. The fact is I can prove what I claim and I can still do it, while you can’t. Don’t blame me, and don’t be so bitter about it. Not my fault… If your league in argentina was that good, local TV would have at least taped your superhuman arial display… hahahah

As a Bulls fan I have to jump in here and guess he is referring to Thabo Sefolosha, 13th pick in the last draft. Thabo is looking like he will turn out to be a damn good pro. To be honest I can’t disagree with the fact that Fred doesn’t look very fluid/smooth or fundamentally sound. To me it just looks like a guy that trains pretty seriously and is a recreational skill player. You did bait him into a flame war though.
HHAAHAHAHAAHAAHHAAH you’re hilarious!!! Are you judging my skills off one day at the park last summer? lol It’s ok hate man. Time ain’t going back though. Read, TIME AINT GOING BACK!!! I’m 225lbs in those vids… Show me your mad skills at your weight now!!! lol And watch more closely, can’t you see the easy dunk in the game? And I think the game 3pts shot starts at the waist too right? lol I played in Switzerland and France with 3 Americans and as many europeans as we wanted. International too with the national team. Who do you think you’re fooling…argentina with one american…? you must have played in a very terrible league. Even in the Swiss league (which is pretty bad already and had only one player in the NBA yet) they have TV following every games!!! hahaha so how come you don’t have anything to show us??? lol
But it’s ok, keep bragging how much you were the bomb back in the day, 15years ago… I love the internet.
Hey BodyGuard,
I’m pretty ignorant in general about basketball. With that being said, I think that dunking is just a way of qualifying people’s BBall abilities to the untrained eye.
Much like 40 yd dash times, the 225 bench rep test, and the vertical jump in football—these don’t predicate the best players, it’s how they move and react on the field. But nonetheless, people still talk about them and measure them.
Would you say that’s a fairly accurate discription?
-MAtt
Well, I don’t consider a high 30’s vert, a 360 dunk or anything of that sort a “superhuman” display. And MJ’s game was sooo much more than dunking you’re completely and irrefutably wrong. Hell, he wouldn’t even participate in the dunk contest after the first few - as many of the best players do not. I repeat, he could score 40 - maybe 4 points were off dunks. Your position is ridiculous and again, just proves my point.
I did however ask you some very simple questions about where you played. I didn’t recieve an answer. At least I was in an NBA camp. The only proof you have seems to be this glamour vid of yourself dunking in a park with no one around. You played “pro” and for the unidentified “national team” and the only footage you have is of yourself dancing and dunking in an empty park?? LOL c’mon bro, I’m not impressed.
I AM impressed with your strength levels and your athleticism. I am sorry that point got lost in your taking offense and maybe I should have worded my original point differently.
At the end of the day, no matter what I think of your “game” - neither of us donned an NBA uniform so we’re two “never made its” in a pissing contest over who never made it the least. And I have no interest in that discussion - its utterly pointless.
You are however a great athlete.
Well obviously when you’re 225lbs and 6ft you can’t be that fluid. But HELLO, I still jump 38inches high, broad jump over 10feet and run a 4.5 forty. AND…I don’t play anymore!!!
How can you judge someone by a day at the park anyways? One day I played one-on-one with sedale threat, well guess what. He wasn’t very fluid either, and looked like a guy at the park… Now I’m not saying I’m nearly as skilled as he was, but just making the point you don’t judge from a bs vid on the net. That’s straight up dumb. Anyways I have nothing to prove to you guys, if you want to play stupid, then so be it.

I agree and I did not intend to bait him. Very insightful and accurate post.

Maybe there is a language barrier. I am NOT bragging. Merely stating facts. I have nothing to brag about b/c I don’t consider playing anywhere other than the NBA any sort of accomplishment whatsoever. I had my shot, I missed. End of story.
If you love the internet so much, get off it.
That said, I already acknowledged that you were heavier and that you might have been quicker/more athletic at a lighter weight when you were younger.
Now, what I can say is that you would NEVER get your own shot off against high level competition on any consistent basis (our Universities are full of players far better players and shooters than you that can’t find their own shot in the NBA) and you have NO left. If you have more footage to share of you playing, I’d be happy to share more with you ![]()
I hope we are finished - it wasn’t my intent to discuss our failed basketball careers. Only one looking to turn back time is maybe you. I’m fine with it. Really.
