I think Taranenko’s 585 C&J is the single most impressive feat of strength ever performed.
Ed Coans 901 deadlift, and his entire meet that day, is the most impressive performance in powerlifting history. Totaling over 2400 @220 with a raw bench and deadlift and the squat in 90’s single ply makes you a little dizzy if you think about it.
The entire Captain to Cadet training video of Kirk Karwoski is mind blowing. He does an 800x5 squat in just a belt that really puts into perspective just how little that gear was giving him when he did 1000x2.
I’ll also throw a plug behind Yuri Zachrevich doing 210/245. Best heavyweight performance ever.

How about James Henderson, in a tested federation, benching 711 with shitty bodybuilding form, I think this is the most impressive bench ever.
Thanks for bringing up Kennelly’s BP. I remember watching it. It almost looked like he was doing his dynamic effort lifts… and I’m not even exaggerating. I couldn’t believe my eyes.
I believe it was “I wanna hold it, I WANNA HOLD IT!!..alright, lets go”
Coan’s 2,400 at 220 is probably the single greatest strength feat of all time in my opinion, I don’t think he even went 9 for 9 that day? There’s is NO arguing that he is the greatest lifter of all time either really. One thing that disgusts me is multiply guys claiming to have beaten Coan’s total. Travis Mash did it some time ago and I’ve never respected the guy since.
Kennelly’s bench just defies belief;
The thing I LOVE about it is the perfection with which he hits it. Elbows tuck, touch, flair the elbows and roll the shoulders… and BANG, the bar’s locked out.

Couldn’t agree more with the above. I would have Andy Bolton’s deadlift in there too.

Let me be the first to correct you in that Krastev snatched 216kg, but also Kurlovich snatched 215kg on at least two occasions. The reason I mention Alexander the Great (besides he’s my favorite lifter) is his much lower bodyweight of 130kg compared to Antonio’s massive 160kg.
Also, as far as snatching is concerned, the most that’s been lifted at an organized competition is 216.5kg, done by a Soviet lifter that no one here ever heard of because he never lifted outside the country. It didn’t count for a world record becaue there was no doping testing and also I think the bar the Russians used for their home competitions was an inch or so longer than an IWF approved bar. Now if we could just get someone to lift 600lbs. in the C&J… ahem, Koklayev?

Personally the Krastev 215 snatch and 220 attempt (!never attempted since!). No one will ever touch those.
I don’t mean to pick on you again but I thought you’d be interested to know Ashot Danielyan snatched 220kg off the blocks in training for the 2000 Olympics. I know its not from the floor but he still put it overhead.
This is really hard, these lifts are all just so fucking crazy. The 580+ clean and press seems like id be at the top of my list, but then again kirk’s 1000x2 squat is just outta this world. I really cant make up my mind.

Nicu vlad snatching over double bodyweight should receive some consideration, as well.
I think it was 202.5kg at a bodyweight of 99.5kg. I could be slightly off.
Nicu was/is the heavyist man to snatch double bodyweight.
The correct weight was 200.5kg done in '86 in the 100kg class. The record he broke belonged to Yuri Zacharievich who held it with a 200kg lift, which I will add he did as a junior lifter in addition to a 240kg clean&jerk.
These three records (200kg snatch, 240kg C&J, 440kg total 100kg category) were both the men’s and junior’s world records for some time. That total record he did was never broken, and obviously quite ahead of his time.
In contrast, the men’s world record in the snatch for the 110kg category at the time was I think 194kg, held by Taranenko. So Vlad is really one of the two heaviest men to have snatched double bodyweight.
I’m gonna throw Yurik Vardanyan in here as well. He lifted a world record 228kg C&J in the 90kg category weighing in at around 86kg. This makes him not only the all-time lightest man to lift 500lb. overhead, but probably also the only man weighing under 190lb. to do so as well.
I’m sure many guys here have seen his clean of 230kg in the 82.5kg category too. What’s that? You haven’t? Ok, twist my arm, here it is…
