I have a 17 y/o member of my gym who wants to start weight training for basketball - I know nothing about basketball. I was wondering if anyone could point me inthe right direction to find a program to help him out.

Basically a focus of compound movements focusing on lower body power will be the best bet.
Build a thorought strength and size base with squats and deadlifts (all varieties).
Build explosive power with power cleans, power snatches, one arm snatches, push presses, and dynamic lunges.
