I think people have a bad habit of preaching what can’t be done because they can’t do it themselves.

In most sports it takes 10 years to reach a world medal.
12 pounds year 1 and 2, plus 3 pounds years 3-10 = 48.
Add 10-20% genetically gifted = about 55 if lucky and no injury.
My friend gained 95 but it was helped, he had cancer and took meds.
He believed sooooo much he did not even trained.[/quote]

How many years then it takes to build this 22 inch neck?

Hackenschmidt has built a lean 225 lb. body in the pre-steroid era and he wasnt even a bodybuilder-he was a wrestler.
Imagine what he would accomplished with todays nutrition, knowledge and if he specialized in body building.

Come on guys… You really think those listed stats are legit? LOL

It’s like when high school/college/NFL teams list their players heights and weights. Definitely inflated.

Come on man… That guy is not 265-293 lbs. same hight but 60lbs (or so) heavier than Arnold while being “lean”???

Come on.

The fact that you think this is a lean 260lbs is quite funny

Hulk hogan has 24 inches biceps

And the ultimate warrior comes from a big spaceship from far away

This man was massive! He packed some serious muscle mass.He deadlifted 727 lb. with one hand.

Great old time physiques, but as professional strongmen and wrestlers (performers), the stats were consistently exaggerated for dramatic effect.

S

these old strongmen stats are complete bullshit
please provide sources
I have read numerous magazines listing them between 180 and 200 pounds (for the taller ones)
never those ridiculous numbers you are giving

They were borned at 400 they dieted !

The question is- how many pounds of lean body mass have they built? And how many more could they built if they specialized in bodybuilding and used todays nutrition and knowledge.

I think photos speak a thousand words.

It’s a good question. Considering that no truly accurate or seriously verifiable data exists, all we can do is wonder, and perhaps look at the decades of athletes who data actually exists for. With today’s knowledge and training methods, who knows what these men could have accomplished. Back in the days of Sig Klein, a 16" arm was staggering.

Thats the point lol… your perception of what a lean 265lbs is is…very flawed

Read the sentence above again and again until the penny drops.

Then look at the photos carefully.

The whole discussion revolved around building 80 pounds of lean body mass naturally. Is it possible? I dont know. But these photos prove that they have built massively muscular bodies with very limited resources some 100 years ago.

Is it possible to run 100 metres sub-10 sec? Hell yeah! For extremely geneticaly gifted individuals trained properly, that is.

Those old time strong men were performers, most of the time working for the circus.

The bearded lady was legit?

The 1,000 lb man was really 1,000lbs?

Those 500lb circus dumbbells were really 500lbs?

It was all a show. Stats were used to bring in customers who had never seen such incredible things. Yeah these guys were built, especially for back then, but to think that these guys 100 years ago are FAR AND AWAY surpassing what virtually any natural bodybuilder has done over the past 40 years or so is incredibly naive.
