Is an 800lb Raw Deadlift Natural Possible?

Stupid Question

Is it possible to achieve an 800lb raw deadlift naturally? I know 700 is very achievable but I wanted to know if my lifetime goal of 800 was realistic.

If it’s unrealistic, will you refuse to pursue it?

There’s no way to answer this with any certainty. 800+ deadlifts have been done in drug tested federations. That’s the best that can be said.

You think so, huh? I think a 700 deadlift is quite the achievement for a natural lifter, and is definitely not reachable by the vast majority.

As The3pwnisher was alluding to, none of this should stop you from trying.

alright thanks guys I’ll do my best & go 4 it regardless of the outcome

lol at 700 is very achievable

It is possible, but very unlikely even with decades of smart training.

I pulled 650 strongman style (ramp and hitch) as a drug free 200lber a few months back. I feel like 700 is very doable drug free.

Especially for a heavier dude.

Are you not aware of how strong that is?

The record at 198 is 706. And interestingly, it’s only 710 at 242.

It’s (maybe) very doable, for you. But clearly you are gifted. You are not part of that “vast majority” I was talking about.

dont be so ridiculous at “very doable drug free”

people on message boards make me laugh

in real life you need extremely good genetics to deadlift 700

id say a 500 DL is “very doable” for most average males after a few years of dedicated training

but adding each 100lbs above that becomes exponentially harder

in real life this is obvious but on the internet you just need to train harder/smarter/believe in yourself

i wish my gym was on the internet :frowning:

look bro, this is how it is:

200lbs is small

700lbs deadlift is easily achievable

400lbs bench is the norm

you can’t ever get above 10% body fat

every chick you bang has to be a 9 AT LEAST

I feel we will have to agree to disagree.

Well at least I have points 4 and 5 covered. One day, maybe point three.

On a side note, OP, shoot for 700 and see what happens.

If you understood my post to mean a 700lb deadlift was easily achievable, I apologize, as that was not what I had intended to convey. Had it been, I would have used the word “easily”. It appeared to me the debate was simply on if it was achievable at all, of which I contend that it very much is (very doable).

the percentage of men capable of deadlifting 700lb drug free is extremely small

how can this even be argued?

ive trained at some very prominent gyms and a 700lb DL is RARE even more so drug free

i know of 2 FREAKS who are both drug free one just pulled 660 this week and the other guy around 670 at BWs of 210 and around 180

I just barely missed 700 at lockout after 3 years of training and im natural, but im also a larger dude at around 275.

Th3Pwnisher is a beast, no question about that, but do you think his beastly-ness is more due to genetics or the decade plus of hard, smart and dedicated training he has under his belt? I’d be inclined towards the latter personally.

I do not feel that anyone is arguing against this point.

well guys if it helps shed light on the situation, I’m only 19 with 3 years of training under my belt and already I can pull 525lbs. I’m pretty confident that with enough hard work, time, and knowledge I can pull 700

I don’t feel like I’m even close to my genetic potential yet. I see myself peaking somewhere around my late 20’s/early 30’s

Th3Pwnisher: hard work.

cparker: genetics.

I’m with T3hPwnisher on this one, so not everyone can get a 700lbs deadlift, but I think a lot more people can get it than you guys are accepting. In no way is it easy or going to happen quickly but that doesn’t mean it’s not doable, it just means most people aren’t prepared to work hard enough for long enough to make it doable.

shadowbobo8028, why not aim for 800lbs, you may well fall short and hit 700lbs but at least you’ll have dared to try. I’m going to be joining you on this if it makes you feel better to have company, and I empathise with your statement of feeling like you’re not nearing you genetic limit yet. I strongly believe I can and will hit at least 700lbs, currently at 589, was at 473 a year ago and had only managed a triple on 330 about 8 months before that. I’m 22 so a few more years on you but about the same amount of time training and only the past year and a bit training ‘properly’
