Impressive. DD, I may be wrong, but did you use CBL at all during your cut?

Looks good doubleduce, I am closer to how you look on the left, unfortunately. How tall are you?

I definitely read a lot of Kiefers stuff, and use a lot of his principals, but I hesitate to say I did CBL because I havenāt read the book and I donāt strictly follow his diet.
But, my diet throughout the process has been a continuum of refinement. Itās hard to say that Iāve done any one thing because Iāve been tweaking, adjusting and experimenting the whole time.

I just was curious. I like CBL, with all my carbs later in the day and after my workout.
But I see impressive guys like Stu or Mr. Walkway in this thread, talking about pre and intra WO carbs being important, and a lot saying PWO arenāt needed, and makes me feel like Iām doing it wrong haha

I should say this too.
Physical changes aside, the cut was worth itsā weight in gold about what Iāve learned about myself. I learned far more about bodybuilding in a year of cutting than I did in the previous decade of endless bulking. I know what my body needs and how it works. Additionally, breaking the mental barriers Iād set up about being fat/big and being deathly afraid of getting smaller has opened my life and training to entirely new and wonderfully enjoyable worlds.
There is nothing wrong with getting a little chunky to get where you want to go. BUT there is a serious problem when your goal is to build an aesthetic physique and you spend a large portion of your life fat. It can ultimately become a mental and physical wall that prevents you from getting to the real goal. Everyone has their own story. I personally was 97 pounds as a freshman in high school and had/have huge insecurities about my size. If you have a plan, you have a deadline, and you commit yourself to doing what you claim, you can have great results.
That wasnāt how I got to 240. Even when I started cutting, that wasnāt me. I really didnāt admit to myself until I was already lean just how fat I was. I came down because I was āa bit softā and I āwill look much better if I drop 15 pounds.ā Then 15 pounds later, I still look like crap. Well, maybe another 10-15 pounds. And on and on. Down at about 215, I finally start realizing I was just fat and it wasnāt until that point I finally stepped back, looked at myself and got committed to being lean, in shape, and healthy.
Itās kind of like the first time you put on glasses and realize youāre whole life was blurry up till then. Bulking like that can be a tool, but it can also be a trap. It took me a good year of actively dropping fat to get to a point of being happy with what I saw in the mirror WITHOUT having to make up āpowerbellyā and ārather be fat and strongā excuses (as a note, I did this all as a natty). Itās just sad when I think about it. Now, Iāll be turning 30 in a couple of months, and for the first time in my life, Iām happy with my body.
Iād encourage anyone to step back, turn their back on any dogma, and honestly ask themselves what they want out of life, and what they would do to get there.

Stu makes me feel like I do it wrong too. I can only say that everyone is different. It is possible I ruined my insulin sensitivity by getting so fat. I could try adding more carbs back in at this point, but if it aināt broke, I donāt want to try to fix it. I feel better without them. I have tons of energy and great recovery. And my high carb days are still under 100 grams.

Exactly. Thereās no right or wrong, thereās what works for you. Obviously certain approaches will work well for the majority of the people, but others will have to tr alternatives. I was fortunate in that even after finding success in my first contest outing, I still tried different approaches until I found what I felt gave ME the best results. Additionally, having to monitor my online clients every week for months on end, I get a nice picture on how different people react to various diet and training manipulations.
As to your sensitivity being āruinedā from being fat, Iāll add in that as I stayed leaner in my offseasons, I not only packed on more muscle each year, but was able to handle a higher and higher amount of carbs each year. Thatās all the real life evidence I need to support the studies stating that you get a better hormonal response when youāre leaner.
Also,⦠some great stuff in this thread. I feel a bit late to the party, but definitely a good read all around.
S
Man great job double duce and great posts as well.Just good info in general in this thread from all.

Lets all be honest here⦠The āFull houseā look is just a made up term for chubby.
If guys prefer to not do cardio and diet and want to carry an extra layer of fat then so be it but making up a new term for it isnāt fooling anyone.
Anyway⦠Marz, I think the added benifits from pushing your weight up from 257-265 will be virtually nill. If your plan is to just ābulk upā 8 more pounds then cut, why not just cut now? How much muscle do you think youāll put on with that added 8 lbs? Youāre already a big guy. When youāre already carrying a good amount of muscle, and arenāt a newb, the amount that you can realistically hope to gain is minimal.
Look at the very detailed contest prep log of The Mighty Stu. He put on 3 lbs in a year? (Something like that)
Unless youāre using AAS. In that case you can disregard most of my post lol.
Funny you should say that, i started AAS 3 weeks ago not tryna hide it, not guna lie about it. My log is over in the steroid section. Iāve gained 22lbs in the last 3 weeks and a 1/2 inch on my waist.
Then keep doing what you are and blow past everyone else here telling you to drop weight now.
LOL.
My guess is, your āafterā pics will blow some people away.
My guess is that you will bring Marzoukās (great) progress that he made with the help of AAS as justification for why people who are never going to take drugs should focus on the scale instead of the actual product.

Brilliant
Kind of related. Had to see my doc today for this bug that i couldnt shake. They weighed me, it was the morning and i was 194 with my shoes on. The doc couldnt understand how i wasnt alarmed how i gained 20 pounds since my last visit. I think we tend to justify bad behavior allot as bulking but we tend more to use bulking as an excuse to engage in that bad behavior. At least i admit that i do. Thankfully my girlfriend who sometimes is my training partner really called me out on it.
I really didnt need to get this heavy to get my goal. I looked good at 170 and really in confidence take off my shirt right now at 190 and be proud. Thankfully i figured it out before i got to 200. When it is all said and done, ill probably get back to the same body fat and have maybe 5 lbs of new LBM. Not worth being soft and unconfident for almost half of a year. Keep in mind i started this whole quest in the 120 range so i think i maxed out whatever benefit this kind of ābulkingā can do for me without AAS
