Jim awesome job man, looks like you are lovin DC. Thx for the pics too, always keeps logs more entertaining I think
Question: 55 lbs on the pinwheels? Are you sure you are doing em right? I love pinwheels and can go up to the 60s for 10 good reps each arm… and you are waaay bigger/stronger than me.
Also, did RP today for my flat DB bench press (only 1 RP per workout)… dude that shit is tough, and hard to keep count of your reps.

Thanks andy i will have to go back and check out the pinwheel curl again. Whatever i did it sucked … you have to remember i have not really trained arms at all in the last 8 years lol so some of the moments are new to me and therefor the weight might be lower but I will adapt quickly that is the nice thing about having a good solid strength base.
i aways walk over write my reps down then walk back and keep the set going …

If i read this correctly you said that you train in Lexington. If you don’t mind I would love to come train with you all some time i am new Louisville and would be more than willing to make the drive. I have been training by my self for about the last 4 years and it sucks i need someone to push me and bounce some ideas off of even if it is just 1 or 2 days. Let me know what you think

What’s your job? Strength coach? Did you go to school for that or no?[/quote]
Yes i am a strength coach. I worked at the division 1 level for almost 5 years before deciding it was not for me. My degree is in elementary Ed lol which explanes why my spelling and grammer is so bad.
awhile back i said i would do a youtube thing on how i built my base. i will do that here hopefully in the next couple days … my life has been a wee bit crazy for the last month.
basically in a nut shell i was a weight room rat my entire life then went to college. i loved the weight room so much i would hang out and the coach asked me to help coach some of the other teams with him. So thats how i got started. i was lucky enough to meet Jim wendler I lived with him for awhile and i started competing in powerlifting.
now i work for myself i train everything from pro athletes to 80 year old men. it is a blast i am so lucky to have a job that i love to do.
let me jump the next step lol when people ask me how to become a trainer or a strength coach … I tell them
1 you have to lift or compeat in something … you need to know what it feels like to do the lifts you are going to be coaching you need to learn how to get strong work around issues and injuries ect. you need to learn how to build a base.
#2 find someone that is good … do anything you can to be around them work for them
#3 learn how to be the best beginner coach possible (95% of the people you see never make it past the basics) i once asked martin rooney how much of his knowlegde of training he used when working with people … i think he said about 15% lol
#4 take some sort of busness or marketing in college … just look around … you can be a so so training and have a booming buisness if you know how to market to the masses. and at the end the day you have too eat lol
#5 learn to be good with money … most strength coaches are not paid that well … trainers make good money but u only get paid when you working be smart with you money inveswt it save it so you can have a life
The only time I have been videotaped was at that first meet. I don’t have them and haven’t seen them either. I didn’t hit any of my PR s and was pretty disappointed. The guy who talked me into participating. His wife taped my attempts. Would have to round those tapes up.
