not to get to personal lol but …
this has been a really tuff week for me. As well as an amazing week for me, i have learned more about myself and the last few weeks than i have my entire life. I will say this if you are having a tuff time get help don’t push others away (especally those that offer to stick with you) you don’t have to play the tuff guy everyone has promblems and it’s ok to get help.
Forgive and forget. if you are angery with anyone especally your parents you have to let it go and put it behind you. If you do not that resentment will grown and cause all sorts of issues for you at work with your relationships ect (anger and resentment causes you to be emotional). It will only be a matter of time before it will cost you big time the longer you run from it and put it off the worse it will be. Once the damage is done with others it is almost impossible to undo.
I had to stop living in the past so i could live today …
ok so i went to yoga tonight with one of my baseball players and two of my football guys that i train (good lord they need it). yes yoga don’t laugh … I acaully did yoga for several months last year when i was still training for powerlifting it helped my back a ton. Jim wendler suggested i do yoga to help me with opening my hips up on the squat. I think all “meat heads” would benfit from doing some yoga. I stopped doing it when i picked up a job at a nightclub on the weekends i was just way too tired. I am so glad I am not working at a night club anymore i have totally changed my spending habits since i got back. I don’t eat out anymore and that has saved me tons of money. I feel amazing now that I am not sleep deprived lol
Too bad I didn’t figure that out earlier lol It would have saved me a 3000 mile car ride lol
Jim

Word to the wise

Jim Wendler of Elitefts.com has a great 3 days lifting ebook (not
5 3 1). It had a program for
the raw lifter in it that would be great for you.

Thanks Tommy and thank you for your service to our country.
I played every sport known to man did tons of body weight stuff and farm work growing up. I joined a gym and started “lifting” around 14. I am 34 so a good 20 years.
As for my lifting sorry i have not posted my last two work outs a have been very busy with work. Still doing DC it is going very well and i am breaking records on all my lifts and getting leaner. hopefully i will have some time to put them on here.

I am glad you found Joe D he is a great guy and has done so much for the field of strength and conditioning in this country.
That being said I have no problem answering your questions or giving you suggestions. But Dude you need to stay off of Cbear’s training log you are making a complete ass of your self.

I thoroughly appreciate the kind words but unfortunately I’m not quite in the Marine Corps just yet. I’m heading out this summer to work on some of my officer stuff before I head back to school for the fall semester. However once I graduate I’m in it to win it.
That’s a buncha years training. I like that alot. If you ould change anything training or nutrition wise from the past what do you think you would change?
first off sorry about my spelling and grammer it is aweful
yes most people don’t want to admit that becoming “elite” in anything especally the strength sports takes a long time. You have to be consistant, and smart. there are some that have amazing gentics and structure but they are few and far between. for most it is a matter of years and years of hard work.
My diet has always been pretty good and i have adapted to what I was trying to do. when i was in powerlifting i ate as much food as i could while staying close enough to making my weight class. if you want to be super strong you have eat.
What I would Change.
One i would have listened to my high school wrestling coach who was a canadian olympic team memeber and pan am games champion. Jim you need to stick with wrestling he said you have a excellent change of doing some amazing things. There are just too many bodies playing football. (I am from Canada) I was bound and determined to play college football in the united states. I did play but my coach was right I would have had a much better chance for something big (especally with my body type in wrestling) and with as big as the UFC is now who knows what would have happened.
When i was playing college football i was too much of a weight room rat. I should have spent more time doing skill work (i was fullback) i should have been running more and lifting less. i was just addicted to the iron i trained way to hard in the weight room.
one time i walked into the strength coachs office and there was a video on with very loud music ac/dc i think a short jacked up bald guy yelling spread the floor tight tight in a weird voice. coach williams yelled turn that off don’t let Jim see that. It turns out it was early footage from westside barbell coach knew if i watched those videos i would have dropped out of college and moved to columbus ohio. My strength coach and Louie Simmons were very good friends. Lou gives Dave Williams the credit for coming up with idea to use bands on the squat and bench. who knew that only a few years later i would meet jim wendler and I my self would end up compeating in powerlifting. I ended up lifting at westside a number of times. Louie Simmons is an amazing guy if you are ever in columbus give him a call and stop bu westside barbell it will blow your mind.
the main advice i give anyone is build a base with the basic lifts … set a goal and then after you build the base specailize your training to get your goal. But remember you still have to keep woring on your base no matter how good you get.
As louis simmons had said to me many times the bigger the base of the piramid the taller it will be.
I hope that answeres your question
Jim

What does your DC rotation look like (w. rep ranges)?
I don’t remember seeing you posting it in the DC thread, so I figured it might be worth checking if you’re making any of the common mistakes (low-back or shoulder overload, low reps on DB presses, regular skullcrushers etc) which tend to cut people’s blasts short or cause tendonitis and what-have-you…
If you got your DC info from the T-Nation article or, worse, the blogspots rather than IM’s doggpound, then chances are you’re missing a bunch of small but important things.
And congrats on your numbers! Stop hiding in the log section and post some more
