Agreed. I really don’t understand people acting like his huge fuckign waist and near lack of a V-taper don’t matter when compared to other bodybuilders with better shape. Yeah, he wins at being one of the biggest. He fails at being one of the most aesthetic. If this doesn’t matter anymore in bodybuilding, then why even hold a contest? Everyone should just get out a tape measure, mail in the numbers and win based on who is the biggest…oh, and veins. If you have more veins showing than you get double…so take a polaroid and we can all skip Vegas.

It’s not really a V taper, It’s more like a V stapled to a fridge

Im curious as to why you consider vascularity shouldnt be taken into account as it adds to the overall look and gives the illusion of being leaner in most cases?
Sure, this is part genetic, but so are muscle shape and attachment… and overall body/bone structure…
On the Cutler “humongous waist” with “lack of vtaper”, im pretty sure no one here is saying it doesnt matter at all, but rather that he compensate this “negative” with many positives.

Actually, they just said it doesn’t matter at all…using almost those exact words. So why would you come along and say this is not what they mean? Don’t words mean things?
Vascularity shouldn’t push out a world class top six bodybuilder simply because the new guy has more veins showing, less muscle and less proportionate development.

It was conditiong not veins X. He wasn’t hard, it sucks I love Vic, would love to see him actually come as conditioned as some of the other top competitors and win the O, but he has yet to deliver that. At that level the littlest fuck ups make all the difference. Rockel isn’t “the new guy” either, he’s been around I believe placed 7th last year at the O, destroys everyone in all the European competitions etc…

Vic was in the same condition he was in when he has WON the Arnold in the past. Rockel had more veins showing, short looking arms and less overall muscle.
There is no way he should have been TOP SIX IN THE WORLD. I personally think TOP SIX should have a TOP SIX BACK.
More veins showing does not mean the guy with less veins showing is unconditioned.

Im pretty sure Stu and Bonez didnt say : It doesnt matter that he has a big waist, big waist are ok and no one care if ppl have one.
But moreso : He has a big waist but compensate this big waist with broad shoulders and massive legs, which than makes is waist appear smaller and than not mattering (is that even a word?) that much.
Sure, put Cutler’s waist on Phil Heath or anyone else in that was in the O for that matter and it will matter much more than on Jay’s frame.

Why do you think Rockell got 6th and Vic got 8th than?
More veins showing does not mean the guy with less veins showing is unconditioned. True.
More veins showing gives the impression the guy with less veins showing is less conditioned. True?
Bodybuilding is about impression. True?
This probably sound arrogant, but is not meant to be
I’m curious, do the judges ever make their decisions and criteria public? Are there any interviews with the judges of bodybuilding shows?

Arnold at his physical peak (ripped and great separation) didn’t even display vascularity, while other’s did. It’s not really something that should be taken into account from one man to the next.

One of my FIRST impressions of BBers when I was a kid was that distinctive exaggerated V taper. I believe that overall outline should be on top of the criteria list.

Gee, the same reason Phil didn’t win when everyone could see he should have. The judges were drunk and/or high.

Impression? Bodybuilding is a subjective activity but without clear guidelines for the winner, there no fucking point in having a contest in the first place.
If you make it to top six at an Olympia simply because of veins, something is wrong.
That pic of Phil is probably the best bodybuilding picture I have ever seen.

I have to agree, Austin!
When I first saw that just now, I literally yelled out "Holy fuck!
Good thing I work alone at home.
IMHO, Heath is just a half step down from Flex Wheeler in the PERFECT department.
Adding:
When I was a teen, I’d obsessively draw bodybuilders. Over and over again I’d try to exaggerate the features to the point where it didn’t seem possible that a man could actually get that way.
Now as a professional, I make a living drawing BBers with exaggerated physiques, and now It’s getting to the point that life is mimicking art.
Phil Heath has all those exaggerated qualities while still maintaining a nearly perfect aesthetic.

Don’t bother man. The burden of proof of why Jay Cutler ‘sucks’ is on the haterz, his 4 titles in the last 5 years speak for themselves.
