Tensor Fascia Lata (TFL)

I have been experiencing a moderate pain in my right upper thigh. It goes away after I warm up my thighs. I am working with a chiropractor who said that I aggravated my TFL. He says that this happens to a lot of squatters. I squat every time I train legs. He is doing ART (active release technique) on it. I must say that it is very painful.

Has anybody been in a similar situation? If so, how did you fix it?

Thank you…

Hey guys,
Irritated TFL’s don’t happen just because you squat. They happen because there is too much tension being applied. Typically, this is due to an anteriorly rotated pelvis (shortens the hip flexors). Without getting too confusing, the result is that a series of small, but very important muscles stop stabilizing the hips and the femurs (thigh bones) become internally rotated. This increases the stress and causes ITB friction syndrome.

Find a physcial therapist that specializes in the “Postural Restoration” Technique. You can find out about it by linking to www.posturalrestoration.com . I have used it for the past year of my career (been practicing for 10) and have had amazing results. Best of luck.
