I read so many threads on these forums (and not just in the beginners section) by people who have clearly not read enough articles on T-Nation. My view of the site has always been that it is primarily about the huge number of articles (both new and archived), written by some of the worlds best coaches. It is only secondarily associated with a forum. Do other folks view the site differently?
When I first stumbled upon T-Nation, I spent 9 months or thereabouts reading the new articles every morning, and going back and digging up stuff in the archives and reading them. Only then did I sign up for an account on the site and start reading and posting in the forums…
Do I have things backwards? When somebody types in T-Nation.com to find some information on bodybuilding, doesn’t it take them first to the homepage, with lists of articles, etc.?
(This isn’t intended purely as a bashing of people who haven’t read up, but I’m also genuinely curious, because I’m often shocked by some of the cluelessness I see on here, and I really do wonder if maybe my understanding of the site is different than most peoples…)
I think a lot of kids are more used to the interaction involved in regular forum use because they come from 4chan and bb.com. Or rather, they are more accustomed to the use of forums than they are to reading.
I read all the articles on the site before I even looked at the forums, mostly because I didn’t really the know there forums were useful. Also I have tons of spare time in college now so that helps.

you’re not alone…i spent the first 4 months after finding this site reading every single article on here. i didn’t join the site and the forum until well after i finished with the archives.
Often I think people ask questions they more or less know the answer to or could find easily without posting just because they want to start a conversation.

Finding the answer to a specific question in the vast archive of articles is hard sometimes.
It’s much simpler to just ask directly. [/quote]
It may be simpler, but if you spend the time to research your question, you’ll pick up a lot of other information which may be useful to you in the future.
I started reading the articles for a few years. I didn’t have internet access at home and so would read articles at work and sometimes print them out…haha. When I got online at home and had more time to browse (waste?!) I started looking at the forums too.
I generally do a search if I want to find something specific and I can usually find the answer somewhere, but then I enjoy doing research and often find I come across loads of other good info while I’m looking.
Maybe, like someone else mentioned, younger people are more inclined to ‘interact’ with the forum as they are used to chat rooms etc?? Also these days everyone wants things instantly with no effort!
In my opinion most people are just plain lazy… it’s a lot easier to ask questions and have answers reached to you on a golden plate.
In most cases those people won’t have the motivation to stick with a program.
After a while no results have been made and they 'll only train as a social activity… Just taking gymspace…
