Supplements for Hormone/Testosterone Balance

Especially when it comes to hormones I don’t think supps are the way to go. Best to fix the issue instead of masking it. I did that to myself and now I’m paying for it. Would have been 10 times cheaper to front the money in the first place too.

any reason why you took your zinc in the morning instead of at night like most ZMA users do?
I didn’t have ZMA at that point, I had separate bottles of Zinc and Magnesium. Aside from that zinc is best taken on empty stomach (so taken in morning) and magnesium is supposed to help with sleep (taken 30 mins per bed).

About your cortisol, supplements may help but you also need to rest and relax. I have adrenal insufficiency - low cortisol - and the only way I started feeling better was from lifting less, eating more, and taking a few supplements that helped… Or most likely a combination of all of them.
so since I’m taking them separately you would reccomend I take the zinc first thing in the morning, or maybe an hour before my first meal?

but keep the magnesium pre bed time.

I know im using things like rhodiola and gse other than that though everything else is vitamins that im either deficit in or couldnt hurt to have more.

The exact cause of my issues are hard to pin point though. I suspect it’s all stress. Doing the army thing, working random night shifts changing sleep patterns frequently, deploying, vaccinations, long hours on top of a strict bodybuilding regime.
i mean i’ve been a little chunkie most of my life and the past couple years i’ve been perma bulking. (since january i dropped about 20lbs) I still have about 20 more before I expect to be lean. i know this has to do with Aromatase.

The good thing is i get out of the army in less than 30 days. But this will bring about all new stress. College, finding a place to live stuff like that for a few months but im pretty sure once i get in the swing of things life will be way less stressful and chill as a college student over being in the army know what i mean?

I’m trying to stick to as few things as possible for now though. I don’t feel like the gse, rhodiola, or vitamins could do too much harm eh?

yea but i cant find out the reason my estrogen is high in the first place. it could be diet. could be the stubborn fat i cant get rid of. could be cortisol. could be insulin. i cant figure this shit out so i mask it with anti estrogens.

to rapidly replenish zinc i do 30mg with breakfast and 30mg with my magnesium before bed.

For a week or so then drop down to 30mg maintenance?

But yeah, I would take the zinc first thing in the morning like 30 mins before first meal w/ a glass of water. You don’t have to be SO strict about it but that is the preferred way.

usually for a month, every 3 months. no rhyme or reason i just do it for the hell of it, zinc is cheap.

im doing it for longer now though. ive read a few sources that say men should take 60-90mg of zinc long term.

have you tried the grape seed extract yet wannabebig?

yea theres 400mg in the custom testosterone booster ive been taking. its hard to attribute what im feeling to the GSE, cause theres so many other ingredients in it, but ive basically turned into a walking hard-on. every girl i see i find attractive. its like puberty all over again lol. usually trib and tongkat doesnt do this to me alone, so i have to think the GSE is playing a role in reducing estrogen.

okay so for now ive decided to go with:

Rhodiola 300mg in the morning 30 minutes before breakfast

vit D3 6,000 IU with breakfast

1 alaskan fish oil pill with breakfast and another at my 6pm meal

grape seed extract 200mg 8-9am with breakfast and another 200mg with my 3:00pm meal

animal pak multivitamins with my 6-7pm meal

zinc gluconate 30mg and magnesium 400mg at 9:30-10pm just before bed

ill be getting a blood test in 3-4 weeks hopefully this helps i feel like im taking 100 pills a day.

grape seed extract. should i ever cycle this? assuming it works awesome.
honestly i wonder if it’s a placebo effect. But i seem to be feeling better lately.

my vision has been wierd though starting about 3-5 days into the rhodiola. Like im focusing really hard. as if i just got a brand new perscription on my glasses or something maybe even slightly disoriented. but energy wise i feel better and this weird feeling in my eyes is kinda cool too, it’s like opposite of the brain fog i normally feel most mornings/days. I also just finished a 7 day no workout deload because i was feeling over trained so my deload may have something to do with me feeling better.

lol yea i got that when i started rhodiola. im guessing its a sign of cortisol coming down because cortisol causes brain fog.

haha okay cool i was wondering if something bad was happening. it’s starting to wear off though and now i see more normal.

so you think doing a 8 weeks on rhodiola/gse and 4 weeks off could be an okay schedule i read a thing on T-Nation that said rhodiola should be cycled i think something like for every 3 weeks on 1 week should be taken off.

hows the GSE working so far?

I want to say awesome. I mean I haven’t noticed anything amazing yet. But i notice im not as slow and tired as usual most days.

maybe ill do 6 w/on and 2 w/off with the gse and rhodiola.

im tempted to take higher doses of the gse to see if i notice anything else.

ill probably get bloods done at the end of this month too

i dont think you need to cycle the gse though. glad its working for you though, i think mine is bunk :s the company i got it from isnt the most reputable apparently.

i might order some Rez-V soon.

damn dude T-Nation makes a lot of stuff i have no idea about, i was wondering what all this reversatrol stuff was. Dude let me know how well it works out for you

man reading about reversatrol or whatever, i haven’t read one good review by anyone

i found a couple high dose grape seed extracts at my local supp shops! im probably gonna pick one up tomorrow and compare the good shit with the custom caps i got. i dunno if this sounds right but they have 300 caps of 400mg GSE for only $26. that is way too cheap it cant be good quality shit, explains why i dont feel the GSE working.

my supp shops have 120 caps of 150mg GSE for $35.

i only read one thread on T-Nation that had a bunch of guys saying they noticed no difference some of them using it for 3 months straight.

and just random threads on a google search, just stuff like it absorbs poorly and stuff, but i think Rez-V is suppose to have stuff in it to help with that.
