Simo - The Red Shoe Diaries - Part 3

Both, actually :joy:. Crocs are very common that far north!

Last time I was in Mackay visiting a friend, we spent a couple days further up at her beach house.

One morning I got up and there was indeed a croc taking itself for a walk along the sand :joy:. Probably 3-3.5m long. Not Huge. Big Enough.

The houses in that area are all “Queenslanders” (you can Google that one, basically built on stilts. With each property surrounded by 6ft cyclone high fencing

The stairs to each house also still gated :joy:.

Oh yeah I didn’t think that through haha. England. Are you in Australia?!

If you are talking England, do you mean Portsmouth (not Portsmith).

I think @atlas13 may have been there recently. @rugby_lifting @alex_uk @dagill2 might be able to help with UK gyms.

Was there a few months back, but the only gym I went to was at Royal Navy base where I was working out of, can’t really speak outside of that.

Very very happy. Just Fkn Quality. I know it’s trash bar and the handles were up, but 500lb pulled from the floor today for the first time ever. Age is just number and a good physio.

seated barbell press - to the front (straddle the bench, no back support)
60 x 5
65 x 5
67.5 x 5
70 x 5 (154 lbs). This was a proper max effort set.
Solid shoulder workout here.

rolling Tricep ext - dumbbells
3 sets
22.5Kg - 13, 11, 9
Getting heavy. Proper work.

Called it there. Back was all kinds of cramping up after the deadlifts. Only 1 more week till comp so no point smashing myself anymore today. So damn happy with my performance today.

@SvenG appreciate the support mate - now just hoping I can do this to the car next week. LOL

@BethB awe shuck thanks

@ChickenLittle ain’t no party like a PR party, woop woop

@shaneinga - It felt like it wasn’t going to move at first, but slow and steady got the job done

@Friedrich Thanks, most people say my back is my best side ..LOL not sure what they mean.

@alex_uk If my lifts even help someone else push a little harder and get better then I will take that.

@atlas13 It wasn’t the quickest to get moving but I felt strong once it came off the ground. Thanks

Good job sticking in there with the 227 pull. Took off slow, but once it broke from the floor there was no doubt to lockout.

@taylortooswift I don’t know Portsmouth well, but my stock answer for anyone visiting the UK is to just get day passes to The Gym Group or Puregym chains. They aren’t going to revolutionise your training or have a great feel to them, but they’re easy, open 24/7, and always have all the basics you need to train.

There’s probably some little local gym with a great atmosphere and crew and some cool kit somewhere in Portsmouth, but finding it, making sure it’s open, getting access for a day etc is probably not worth it when you can find a passable training place and get your entry sorted in 10mins online.

I got strange off hand compliment from my physio yesterday. I was seeing him for my bicep tendon issue but whilst I was there I mentioned I had a sore trap and rhomboids from deadlifting on Wednesday. He said he would give me a 2 for 1 and free up the knots in my back. He decided to do some dry needling but when he was putting the needles in, he huffed a couple of times and I could tell he was having a problem. “What’s up” I asked him, he replied “they need to coat these needles in kryptonite for you. I keep bending the bugger trying to get it in”

Just call me Clarke from now on. LOL

82 x 1
84.5 x 1

87 x 1 (191 lbs)
67 x 2 - strict - traps were on fire, no more
Happy with log, 87KG is the most for a while and that’s with half a bicep.

Good old pump. Going deep again.

Dips - BW
3 sets - 17, 17, 13
