I’ve been a long time lurker of the forum and finally decided to register as a member!

There’s a strongman competition coming up on November the 30th that I want to enter, I might do a training log or possible vlog if people had an interest! Would people be interested? :grin:

If anyone has any critiques or pointers or wants to know anything about my training don’t be afraid to say/ask as its all about helping each other out!

Last night an old friend roped me into playing a rugby match which was really fun! I went on in the second half and gassed out after 10 minutes! I fucked up my finger aswell pulling some lad out of a ruck! I can’t decide if its sprained or broken (pic below). If anyone knows about the finger please let me know! Otherwise it was a serious shock to the system being so unfit! I’d love to get some what fit again! If anyone has any pointers on how to get fitter while maintaining muscle and strength please hit me up!

This is how I’ve set up my training coming up to comp! I’m kind of winging it so it will be interesting to see how it goes!

Nice lifting (especially for being a newer lifter) cool gym.

Do you have some Farmers bars and big rock to get some event practice?

Sprains heal faster than breaks, so it’s Definetly a sprain.

Cheers bud! Ya its a really cool gym! Mainly powerlifters but everyone is fairly close so its a nice atmosphere to train in! Ya I have farmers and sheild carry programmed in starting from when I drop from 5’s to 3’s in 2 weeks time over the volume being insane atm with 2 squat variations and 2 deadlift variations per cycle! I need to find something for the front carry though as we don’t have anything! Any suggestions? Do you think the farmers and front carry would carryover to my general fitness? Like running around without gasping for air and all!? Haha! The pain is nearly gone from the finger today! Feeling way more confident about it being a sprain! Its wrapped in electrical tape to keep it straight atm! Haha! I have a deadlift session tomorrow so I might push that out until the weekend! We’ll see how I feel tomorrow! Thanks for the input! Right, so I just had a deadlift session and it was a complete shambles! Last week I pulled 220 for 5 for an RPE 8 at the most and this week I wanted to beat it with a 230 x 5! I’m not making excuses but it’s a log at the end of the day so I’ll document the reasoning behind why I failed my topset! It was down to my finger still being fucked! And I ate a big burger and chips right before I went to the gym! :joy: Bad idea when you have to bend over with a belt on! Anyway warm ups felt alright to be honest, worked up to 200 x 5 which didn’t move aswell as last week! But in my head I was after lifting that 230 x 5 all week and there was no way I wasn’t going to do it! Worked up to 230 and went for it, bailed on the forth rep and had to go and puke my ring up over being so full! :joy: Anyway being the sore loser that I am I had to go again! I was pulling with straps and I que my lats by thinking about pulling the bar apart when I use straps! My finger throbbing with pain I couldn’t keep my lats tight and my upper back arched, raising my hips and fucking my positioning off the floor and it just didn’t work out! But I pulled 4 reps this time! I definitely looked like a dickhead in front if the rest of the guys in the gym but I suppose you can’t win them all! I will make this my bitch next time I deadlift!

Yesterday I had a pressing session which surprisingly went really well! I finally got my name on the top 3RM board which is a little milestone I wanted to overcome for some time now! I worked up to a topset of 90 for 8 supposed to be for an RPE 9 but was probably more of a 10! In an attempt to make myself feel better about my previous downfall! I forgot to get a video of my top set of 8 but I got a video of my triple!
