Silver and Steel

Great to hear you are OK and surviving all the travelling. Cant wait to see what you pick and the outcome.

Thanks man. I really appreciate it. I don’t do a good enough job checking on you likewise. I hope things are well?

Things are ticking along OK. Work is not too busy right now but still a little frustrating and can be stressful day to day. I am trying very hard to not bring my work frustrations home with me. My dad commented when he stayed with us recently that it was like I was looking for an argument as soon as I walked through the door and if I am honest he was right. Being aware of something is the first step to fixing it. I am working on that and some days it is better than others.

My kids are doing great at school and even my son is engaged and doing a good job of getting his work done. There is still a lot of tension and arguments at home, as all three of my kids fight to be top dog or get attention. I struggle with this and really struggle with the kids not listening or doing what you ask of them. I really struggle to accept that they are children and think differently at times. Again something to work on.

I am trying to make more time for my misses and be sensitive to her needs a little more. It’s very hard to fit everything in and I am trying hard to make sure she is not at the bottom of the list. After 25 years together its sometimes hard to not assume that your partner knows everything you do and hard to be present when they are trying to communicate.

Training is in a very good place. I loved doing the strongman comp and am enjoying getting stronger again. I learned or re-leaned that I like to have a goal or a competition to train for. I need to do more of that.

I have my Flexible Cytoscopy next week (Thursday) so hopefully this will give me some more information about my recent health concerns. Mentally I am doing OK, some days are better than others.

You’ve got a lot going on, my friend! You’re always looking for the right path that benefits your family, which speaks volumes.

What’s going on at work? Are you just burnt out or is there something specific? I know I whine about it in here, but I got to a point with a company a couple years ago I had to give up a lot of money to leave - and it was still the right decision. You spend too much time and effort at some of these places for it to also ruin your real life.

That’s awesome to hear about your son! I know you have been on a journey trying to work through and find tools. I’m really happy to hear what you’re doing is helping things in the right direction.

25 years! Congrats! I’m a decade behind you there. I think we all continue to grow and evolve so we’re never really finished figuring each other out. Since you care, I think you’ll always be doing it right.

Awesome to hear about your training. It’s such an outlet, I’m glad that’s in a positive place.

Why the cysto? I thought we were looking at kidneys? Are they thinking those numbers are secondary now? Good luck! I hope you get some fast clarity.

My boss parachuted me into another site A couple
Of months ago to help solve a bunch of problems caused mostly the the inept site manager. I have sorted most of it but dealing without said manager without outright calling them a Fk head is a daily challenge. I am not the best politician. Lol

The kidney was just something that popped up in a blood test when looking at a different issue. Been having some issues with urinary flow for a little while. Basically pissing like a geriatric which could have been enlarged prostrate, hence the blood tests. That has been ruled out now so only way to solve this is to take a look in there.

Ha! I literally had that conversation with my boss yesterday afternoon. Our strengths can be our Achilles’ heels.

Gotcha! That makes more sense now. So the issue maybe… downstream?

I jest, but sincerely wish you the best of luck.

:joy:. Yea deff downstream. Could be a blockage. Could be my muscles down there got too jacked and are restricting the flow, could be something sinister. Urologist thinks jacked is the most likely.

I am worn out my dudes. I did a leg workout right before I flew out a couple days ago, and they’re still sore!

I flew home today and Ubered straight to the gym to knock out a workout so @simo74 wouldn’t make fun of me. Fatigue definitely ended up being a factor.

Quick Circuit

  • Bench: 155/10 x 3
  • TBDL: 135/10 x 3

Main
Floor Press
165/8 x 4
165/8 + 4 + 2

Assistance
Superset 3 rounds:

  • DB Hex Press: 42.5/8
  • Wide-grip Bench: 135/8

Superset 3 rounds:

  • DB Flye: 35/8

It’s what Uhtred would have done, so it’s valid. Have you seen the movie yet?

This morning I trained my folks for their 6-week challenge. 3 of them combined have lost 45 lbs in 4 weeks. One has stayed within a margin of error (couple pounds), but he was leaner to start with and has gained significant strength - we may be putting a little tissue on him. They’re working hard.

We’re starting softball. I may get back to the gym to lift myself this evening or I may just sleep.

Not watched the film yet. It’s on my list but I’ve foolishly got too many series on the go. I’m watching mad men, the sopranos, seal team (last season) and the old man on Disney.

All in all think I need to finish one of these. If only I had more free time.

Long day of work and meetings and flying west, but the hotel has an incredible gym! I’m really lightening up and getting some really strict reps in on the travel weeks; I think that’s helping. I went ahead and ordered a Theragun (even though you said that’s only partially helping you @QuadQueen), but I’m in enough towns this week I figured I’d miss if it I tried to send it to a hotel so I’ll try it out Friday night when I get home.

Today was a fast and furious legs

  • Seated leg curl
    Speed warmup
    1 set of 20
    1 set of 8ish

  • Front squat
    Elevated heels
I used the clean grip for these, which I absolutely sucked at and made it more of a nonsense exercise
    45/8
    135/6
    185/10
    205/10

  • Machine leg press
    2 x 10

  • Reverse lunge
Elevated the front foot and held a 25# plate
    25/10
    25/10 + 6 + 4

  • RDL
Slow, 3+s eccentric, 1s pause at bottom
    135/8 x 2

  • Toe press
    2 x cluster sets

Off to the team event!

Partially is better than not at all!! I use it every day, it just doesn’t completely fix it. Let me know how it goes for you and safe travels!!!
