My Baby Got Sauce

Hi all-

…I had a nice little intro typed up here but it sounded like I was interviewing for a job, so I’ll jump right in.

Me:
Height: 5’5"
Weight: 138
Bust: 35
Waist: 27
Belly button: 30
Hips: 38

Goals:
erm, that’s why I’m beginning a log. I have been scatter-brained in the gym these days and realized I need to a)write down what I’m doing and b) seek the advice of others- if I ever want to improve. So I suppose lift smartly, in a healthy way, to get strong (i just threw up a little reading that, I’ll get back to this).

Background: 18 years of gymnastics until I tore my labrum in my right shoulder. I had surgery and instead of going back to gymnastics, I decided to start living a life outside of the gymnastics gym. I spent the rest of my college years studying abroad and getting drunk (best.choice.ever). I’ve been dabbling in running, and the past couple years have gotten more serious about the weights. I’m now back in school (Van Wilder, what!?), studying physical therapy.

Here’s today’s work:

Plate complex (25#, 6-8, 4)
OH squat
Bent over row
Swings
Reverse lunge with rotation
Plate chops
(beg, borrow, and steal-thanks Nick Tumminello! Screw Cardio! Four Complexes for a Shredded Physique)

Pendlay Rows
Barx10
65x8
105x4x4
115x4
65x10

Front Squats
Bar x 10
65x10
105x6x4
65x10

Dips supersetted with decline push ups (feet on 24" box)
Body weight 5x8

Rower intervals-
1 minute hard
30 seconds recovery
x5

Incline walking
2.5 mph
15% incline
10 minutes

I know we’re all (myself included) picture/video sluts, so I will work on that in coming posts.

video sluts!!!

lol

Welcome. I’m starting PT school this August at the ripe age of 30. Training looks great. I look forward to following along.

So happy that you got a log mama!
Workout looks awesome.

I’ve done that plate complex. So killer.

and i has a curious- which kind of sauce?

^^ It’s a sweet sauce. But not just sweet.

i’m happy you started a log, too
my, thats a bit belly button you have (jk).

I envy gymnasts for their excellent mobility. And skills, not forgetting that. Anyway, welcome, saucy one, I’ll look forward to following along.

Hey Lula! YAY!

That complex with the 25# plate looks like good stuff. And nice proportions up there, already. We are going to love having your newly acquired PT skills around here.

MIM, Nikki, Alexus, Cal, PP: Thanks for the welcome! And yes lexus, my belly button is HUGE! People come far and wide to check it out. Freak show I tell you!

Sbmart: So awesome you’ll be starting in the fall! I was 27 when I started, and a friend of mine was 32, so don’t think you’re alone! I’m likely biased, however I think being “older” has it’s advantages, being able to handle stress and keep things in perspective being two of the big ones.

Bear: The sauce? sweetandsoursauceonmypussy.

But really, Kristoph’s got it. Let’s see if I can figure out the video portion of our evening…

LMAO his best performance.
My girl! I shall follow religiously <3

Workout today:

Morning:

2 mile run
6-1 minute sprints (as much as 1 minute can be a sprint)
2 mile run

Today’s run felt like running in a sweaty ballsack. It’s been awhile since I’ve sweat that much, but it felt strangely cleansing. Nothing remarkable about the run. My left knee has been hurting today a bit though—I think I need to start stretching more.

Tonight a friend of mine wanted to try out a yoga class so I tagged along. It was mostly boring, but the stretching/calming the mind part felt pretty good, so I’ll probably try to keep going at least once a week to keep and get mobility.

Looks like the video no worky. I’ll have to do some research.

i used to enjoy bodybalance (a kinda weird yoga / pilates / tai chi blend) mostly because i found it kinda calming. hmm… might try and give it a shot this weekend… nice running.

Hey Lula! (can I call you that?)

Nice training, girlie! Thanks for a reminder on the complexes - I can def add some of these into my training.

And great job on the running/sprinting. 1 min sprints are excellent! So jelly!

Welcome… looking forward to following another gymnast turned PW.

This was my first thought when I saw the log title. I don’t think its the kind I was hoping for.

…Oh! Hi cholulalula! waves

I was just talking to a friend the other day about enjoying getting older. I wouldn’t get rid of my wrinkles at the expensive of wisdom and true self confidence for anything. I’m glad to hear that there are other people getting into the field at a more seasoned age!

When did you start and how long is your program, if you don’t mind me asking?

Ugg-took some videos this morning and now they aren’t loading? Is there a how to pamphlet somewhere on here? Sorry to be so neeeeeeedy! Anyhow, here’s today’s work.

BB complex
Barx6x4

SLDL
Row
Cleans
Front Squat
Millie

Hex DLs

Barx10 (I’m guessing the bar weighs 45#…does anyone know if that’s right?)
95x6x2
115x4x2
135x4x2
95x10x1

Pull ups
5x6x5x5x4

Military Press
Barx8x1
65x6x2
85x1x1
65x6

I don’t know why it didn’t occur to me to do 75??

Spin bike tabata-esque
20 sec 15-18
10 sec 1
5 minute recovery

I’ve been having troubles getting solid foods down lately (it’s only our second date, is it too soon to talk about my ex-boyfriend anxiety?) and I honestly feel like I’m scraping the bottom of the energy barrel lately with lifts. I miss my appetite. :frowning:

Also-I don’t seem to really push the weights. I don’t know if I’m afraid of it or what? I think logging will keep me to keep myself in check more.

Alexus: Bodybalance sounds interesting! I’ve realized it’s totally dependent on the instructor if I dig the yoga stuff or not. This one kinda blew. Good luck getting to it this weekend though!

Masch: Insert any “you can call me anything” pick-up line you like. And thanks! The “sprints” (again I emphasize the quotations, they were more likely a faster trot) are a good way to break up the run and keep it interesting. I hope you are back doing the sprints sooner than you hope, and it sounds like in the meantime you are making good use of your time.

Veggie: hi! Yes, the ex-gymnasts are adding up here! A lot of my ex-teammates won’t touch weights now because they are scared it will make them too big like they were when they competed, so it’s nice to have some camaraderie here.

Buckeye: Sorry for the letdown on the sauce. If I could figure out how to put some youtube stuff on here I’d put up the video of the song that inspired the log. And FTR, I miss the booty avi. You inspired me to search for the ruched back bikini bottom but so far I’ve been out of luck-but I refuse to give up! Either way, looked scrumptious.

Sbmart: Ask away. I started one year ago, and it’s a 3 year program. I have one more year of class and then we have the entire third year doing rotations. Is your program similar?

Nikki I missed you sandwiched in there! Yes! Dane Cook at his best!!
