I have an issue with any of these campaigns that put the individual above the mission, and we’ve lost all sense of reality these recent years when everything is about elevating some individual characteristic or preference to the level of ultimate virtue.

All that said, you’ve still got a career to consider and really might want to delete your comment even though it’s thoughtful and tolerant.

Oof. I don’t know what I’m doing lately (probably just being on the computer too much), but my traps and neck and shoulders have felt bound up and awful. Today I just got got some volume in because everything felt rough. That actually might be a good move for me anyway, to just progress some straight sets.

Trying to play chess for @cdep89 and get on page 3 for @simo74 today.

Still getting in the dog walk/ rucks, which go a long way toward reducing my BP but nowhere toward getting any leaner! I’m also not putting any effort into getting leaner since I wrapped up V-dieting, so there is that. I’m happy to just eat like a person for awhile.

My daughter got sassy with her volleyball coach last night. She’s getting a little big for her britches. In most cases, I love the confidence, because young girls are easily peer pressured into doing incredible self-harm, but we had to chat about this one. She’s a smart girl and I think she will self-correct. She did, on the other hand, crush all the state tests.

My son did this running thing with the school that culminated in a 5k. He knocked it’s out, which is a big deal for him because those types of situations create a lot of anxiety in his world. His grades are pretty solid, too, because he’s started taking some personal responsibility for them (which was the major goal).

They’ve got three more weeks of school! I’ll be on the road the whole time, but then I’ll come back and we will go to Florida for Memorial Day week (and we’ll recognize some incredible transformations on here!) for vacation with my wife’s high school friends (apparently some women had those).

I don’t know why you all needed my calendar, but there it is.

Oh! And @hillbillyk can’t stop me: I spent the rest of yesterday afternoon making Star Wars puns at work!

You would deff make my page 3 with that pump mate :joy:

So many life PR’s in this paragraph and so much to be happy and proud of. You are winning in the game of life.

Dude, SAME!!! Since about mid-March and it just moves from one side to the other and back. It’s AWFUL. I have tried every stretch, exercise, used ice, heat, went to the chiro numerous times, and yet… I’m going to try a massage next. If you figure out a fix, let me know. It is annoyingly MISERABLE!!

Good luck! I wish I had any meaningful tips for you. I went to a deep tissue massage person last time, and I felt like it really did help. I’m with you that nothing else seems to touch it at all. She’s booked up this week, so I’m out of luck there (and I’m too uncomfortable with it to bother trying to find someone new). I’m trying to find someone at the gym that has one a theragun - a couple of people have recommended that. I’ll let you know! I even tried getting one of those specially shaped pillows that’s supposed to help, but no-go there.

I have a Theragun, but that doesn’t really help me a whole lot either. Thanks for the pillow info, I was contemplating that.

Yeah it did nothing. So I’ve saved you a pillow and you’ve saved me a massage gun. We’re at least ruling out things that don’t help

I can confirm from my own experience that this will definitely be the cause. I can confirm also that is is really hard to get rid off. Massage does help me but it needs to be a proper one and self massage does nothing. Heat helps a little with symptoms but only while the heat pack is on and tightness re-appears almost straight after heat is removed, Only other thing that really helps is movement, lots of movement.

Like pull aparts and that kind of stuff? I’m in a cycle where I’m just constantly on the computer or a plane or both, and this is brutal!

Same. My job doesn’t allow for an alternative… Damn it.

I’m just looking forward to ChatGPT replacing me

Lets look at minimizing the cause and then helping with the symptom. Some of this will sound obvious and I am sure you know or are doing it but I will list it anyway:

  1. Set up your work area to minimise the poor positioning. You obviously aren’t going to be able to have an ergonomic work station with you but making sure you at least sit at a desk, vs lap to on your lap Try and keep you back against the chair and use your eyes to look down rather than cram your chin into your chest.
  2. Frequent movement - Get up off the desk and walk around for a few mins every 30 mins.
3 .Stretch frequently through the day, any tricep, shoulder and chest stretch of your choice. Anything you can do whilst still sat in your chair is fine, or do these as you walk.
  3. Simple shoulder shrugs or shoulder rolls, I dont mean shrug up and max flex like a gym workout, just move the shoulders up and down but keep relaxed.

Now lets work on the tightness:
Things you are already doing; Self massage, heat, hot shower, hot bath
other options:
Lots of movement - You need to get blood through the traps and neck and this isn’t easy. Things like band pull apparts as you mentioned and a good option. If you somewhere to secure the band then face pulls will work too. If you have a band you could also use it for light lateral raises.
Use a towel and do neck execises, I think you will know these, but basically use a towel to create some resistance and do forward, back and side movements. Again dont so these like a max effort, just gently resistance and reps is a better way to get the blood moving.
You can also try releasing some tension in the back by laying on your back on the floor with a rolled up towel under your neck. This will allow your head to drop back and release some tension as well as get stretch backwards in the neck.

Hope some of this help.

@simo74 All of that is so awesome!! Thank you!

I also just got these:

I think rolling on them every hour or two is helping but it has only been three days, so it might be too soon to tell.

They look great QQ. The rolling and massage will help release some of the tension and stiffness but make sure you are moving too. Flushing the area full of blood will help loads.

And the popping sounds are SO satisfying. lol

For sure! I was just afraid that maybe I was doing something lifting/movement wise that was aggravating it. Again, THANK YOU SO much for all the recs!

Thanks @simo74! That was awesome. It really is easy to not do any of the right things and let it build up to a point it’s horrible. in fact, I need to get off the dumb computer right now and hang it up for the night. I really appreciate the advice!

Hows the neck feeling and how are you ?

Hey man! Thanks for checking in!

I’m good. Super busy - I’m on the road all month into mid-June.

The neck is still sore, but improving. That’s a win with all the flights.

I’ll get a weekend with the family Memorial Day (end of May) and then I think we’ll settle down July 4 and get back to normal. Maybe I’ll even try to pick something and get into shape, per your recommendations! I need it.
