Should I Cut?

Hi,

I am 22 years old, 5’9", 172 lbs.

I started lifting properly about 9 months ago, and have gained about 20 something lbs since then. I imagine that when I started bulking I was about 8% body fat.

So I probably have gained 10 lbs of fat. However, I don’t “look fat,” but I have started developing a belly.

Should I just keep bulking, or start to cut?

Sorry, I don’t have a pic.

Thanks!

bulk

Do you want to cut?

Exactly what answer are you looking for. your either looking for us to agree you need to keep bulking or that your fat and need to cut.

Id say keep gaining depending on your ultimate goal.

You’re still skinny as fuck. bulk up and then you can cut. what are you going to cut down too? dont be one of those guys that takes a phone camera shot of his abs and puts them online.

Definitely keep bulking if that is your ultimate goal. But definitely re-think your dietary strategies to stop the fast progress of that belly!

i agree. my younger brother is your height and 165 with not a lot of fat and i wouldnt call him big.

Adjust diet.

No need to cut at the first sign of fat. Its funny to see people go into panic mode when the gain a little fat. They immediately think “OMG the worlds coming to an end! TIme to cut!” In reality all it takes is a minor adjustment to the workout routine/intensity or a slight adjustment to ones diet.

If you go and cut now after gaining muscle you will lose it all along with your fat. You havent given yourself time to adjust to your new body.

Cut, and lose everything or adjust and hopefully keep what you gained.

Good advice ! ! !

Once you get to 200+ pounds, then we will talk about cutting mmmkay?

Keep bulking.

Don’t be scared, it’s going to be ok.

Eat right and all of that hoo-ha, but don’t start cutting now.

Of course ultimately it’s up to you.

how is 20 lbs in 9 months with aratio of 1:1 muscle and fat even possible if you are listening to the advice on the forums?

previous T-Nation i was 155(age 20), and could not gain a pound, "no matter what i did. "

I began actually training correctly, read, actually doing leg work, deads and squats.

In 3 months i’ve gained 30 lbs.(185 currently), and i swear to you i am leaner now than when i began. I feel great and i’m no longer an emo piece of shit. Thank you testosterone.

It’s all about eating clean and lifting heavy. What the hell was i doing before? My gains are fucking ridiculous imo.

In a nutshell:
bulk and do it right.
