Earlier this year, in March, I had a hernia repaired on the left side of my lower abdomen, approximately 3 inches below my navel and about 2 1/2 inches to the left. Well, its November now, and I would like to start some power lifts in the near future. What abdominal exercises and workout schemes could you recommend to me.

Make sure your Transversus Abdominus is firing with the rest of your abs. This is the muscle that you use when you “suck in your gut”, and has a direct effect on low back stability for future lifting. see Paul Chek’s articles on lifting beltless for detailed info on this muscle. You can start by pulling in with the abdominals not only on your ab work , but on light squats, lat work, and shoulder exercises, because this muscle may not come back online automatically. also single alternating partial leg lifts holding the TA will help
