Physique Clinic discussion for novagreg

I tried canned pumpkin for the first time today after seeing it in NG’s Physique Clinic. It was tasty. I just hope he’s not eating whole cans at a time as there are ~3.5 servings per can.

Nova,

In your latest update you list the following meal:

Meal 4: 8 oz. 90% lean hamburger, 1 serving of pumpkin, 1 cup of raisins, 1 Cap Flameout

Is the bolded text a typo?

FYI - 1 cup of raisins would have approximately 480 calories and 115g of carbs.

-Soup

Greg, I gotta second soupandspoons here. What are you doing eating this much fruit for anyway? You’re already getting sweet/healthy food from Metabolic Drive shakes. 90% lean hamburger has too much fat for you at this point. You don’t need it.

I keep seeing your meals, but they’re almost devoid of vegetables. Don’t you want some more fish and chicken meals, too? Broccoli? Those greens will fill you up and keep you losing bodyfat. You’re not going to get lean on pumpkin and raisins. It’s not a bad meal, but if we’re trying to strip off fat, I feel it’s closer to keeping you neutral.

Guys who are looking to drop bodyfat shouldn’t be having fruit more than once a week. Raisins are just so dense in calories. How about a sweet potato and some lean protein?

You should be hungry every night before going to bed.

While we’re at it, how about some HIIT style cardio? You’ve been doing the treadmill/ steady state type of cardio for a long time.

Out of curiosity, what was that last meal picture of?

Hey Novagreg
Looking at your last pics, I see serious progress from the beginning.
Getting a V taper, definition showing in the legs end tricepts.

I really hope you keep it going, you are not far away from making a healthy lifestyle a habit not a challenge.

You need it to become second nature, like brushing your teeth in the morning.

Keep it up man

This is the meal:
Meal 2: Egg Whites in Low Carb Tortilla, 2 oz. of Cabott Sharp Cheddar (lactose free) Cheese melted on top of the eggs

To me these doesn’t look like they would promote a healthy lifestyle (fats seems to be mostly the saturated kind) and I guess to really get rid of the fat there needs to be a lifestyle change…V-diet is very temporary in nature. I would rather start with filling at least half the plate with veggies and then add as much lean meat or fish as needed (prob around 150g for Greg). Round off with some olive oil if calories in the meal becomes too low.

Maybe HIIT with the elliptical could work as he seems to have access to that kind of equipment. Wouldn’t hurt the knees.

Greg, pulling your love handles forward is not clinically proven to reduce body fat.

Just let em hang…

…jesus. He still doesn’t get it.

Wow…over five months of minimal fat loss and sub optimal meals/cut corners. Just when I thought you might be on the right track.

Well, some people don’t go to veggies after Biotest shakes and milled flax.

I think this is where Greg could admit that he doesn’t want to lose any more weight. Goals: Hypertrophy. Period.

Not funny. Comments like the above must feel even worse than the flamings. Because you make him look like an idiot. I hate being complimented for something I know I didn’t do right.

Weird thread. I followed all of the PC’s from jump. I knew Greg was cheating. How anyone could think otherwise is truly a mystery.

  1. He would always talk about his numbers in the gym but never how pissed off he was about being in a super strict diet and not losing weight.

Think about it: You’re on 1900 calories and doing 2 hours of cardio. Wouldn’t you be posting in the PC wondering what was up? But not Greg. Instead, he’s like, “Yo, I got a 170 lb. push press up today. That’s a PR.”

  1. PRs in the gym when on a diet are uncommon.

  2. He quit doing his verified weigh-ins after one week.

  3. No improvements in his photos while claiming a weight loss.

  4. He says all the right things. As someone who deals with liars for a living, that really struck me about his posts. They were all saying, “Oh, I’m on the right path.” “Oh, I’m getting taste changes.” But there was never any detail or elaboration. It’s like he parroted whatever Shugart or Thibs said to him. But since he wasn’t really doing what he said he was doing, he had no detail to share. Just catch phrases and cliches.

  5. The sick friend. Really… Who uses a sick relative as an excuse over and over again? A close relative of mine almost died. I was late turning in one project. I didn’t say, four weeks later, “Sick relative!”

I would not be surprised if, in light of his repeated lies, he made up the sick friend.

Bottom line is that no one thinks the guy is telling the truth. The people who “defended” him just ended up looking really gullible.

There are real people in need of support. Wasting your time on the likes of Greg is a wasted life.

I could be wrong, but I would say that perhaps he shut down his metabolism from his previous attempts at dieting. He has also probably used 4-AD-EC previously (most people who’ve purchased from Biotest pre-2005 have probably used MAG-10 at some point and still claim to be natural, which is always funny).

Anyway, I still say that he did what he was told but he should have gotten his hormonal profile checked. Adrenal fatigue is also not uncommon when a guy his size diets for an extended period of time. Why would someone out himself out there in pictures and then flake on everything. I would guess he ate LESS than he reported and scrwed his progress as being more likely than his eating junk and selling the supplements. Then again, I could be wrong.

This man, knows what he is on about.
Excellant post.

The guy is fat - disgustingly so. He has stretch marks all over his body. He is not even muscular. Yet you read his PC and he’s all about “hypertrophy.” He keeps saying that as if muscle will magically appear.

Look at his numbers. He is not even strong. I can do his workout and I train primarily MMA and weigh more than 25% less than he does. He has a bunch of non-functional fat. Period.

So we have a guy who has at least 50 pounds of pure fat to lose talking about “hypertrophy” and people here cheering him on. What the hell is wrong with people?!

Let’s do a thought experiment: Would Professor X say Greg needed to bulk? Hell no! No one would - except enablers. You know who you are.

All that the “nice” people in this thread did was enable the guy. Instead of calling him out on his bullshit, they made him feel like he was pulling one over on people. So he kept up with his bullshit and lies.

People should have been on his ass. Let him know he’s not getting away with this shit anymore.

The ONE WEEK Shugart and Thibs made his verify his weigh-in, guess what: He made weight! But they left him off the hook, as he was supposed to weigh-in every week for two more weeks. Not surprisingly, he didn’t lose any more weight.

Some people need to have their asses ridden. Some people need a harsh reality check. Greg is one of those people.

Personally, I’d like to see more motivated people in the PC - not people who need to have a Drill Sgt.

Greg has been a case study in delusion and deceit. All of you who enabled him should be ashamed of yourself. All of you who sincerely believe him should be careful: You have “sucker” written all over your faces!

I don’t think I am Gullible or an enabler. I defended Greg’s Character not his diet. I believe you can hold someone accountable with attacking them personally. Yes, I’m a bit over zealous when defending friends, but who isn’t? I guess I would rather be a “Sucker” than an asshole.

This just sucks. I was more or less in Novagreg’s corner until listerfan brought this picture to our attention. Nothing short of being caught in a lie.

I just want to know Greg, why the hell would you do that?

Some useful tips for after the PC.

-Have a clearly defined goal. It should be fat loss or hypertrophy. Pick just one.

-A good mindset is QUALITY over quantity. Don’t be a SIZE junkie.

-Change your workout every 4 weeks. Think of Coach CT’s mirror training.

-Get one gram of protein per pound of bodyweight. More protein is useless until you get down around 10% bodyfat. Try to pick lean meats, but don’t drive yourself crazy by over thinking everything you eat.

-Get 1/2 gram of fat per pound of bodyweight. Remember Good fat is not the enemy.

-If trying to lose fat, eat no more then 30 carbs a day. Again, remember what Coach CT said, Green veggies don’t count toward carb totals. If trying to gain lean weight, start at 1 gram per pound and adjust up or down accordingly.

-In my experience, most people know what to do, where they usually fail is PRACTICAL APPLICATION. Knowing is one thing, doing is another.

Maybe, some other members could add some more useful tips too.

How many more fucking TIPS does he need?

He has made mediocre progress following routines/plans provided for him by successful professionals, but I’m sure our TIPS are going to push him to the next level.

I was simply taking progress pics of my back relaxed, where you can see my love handles, which is a required shot by Shugart, and then he said I could throw in a few random flexed pics, hence the back shot where I’m flexing. I’ve labled my pics where I’m flexed.

Gerard,
The low carb tortilla had only 7 net grams of carbs, and about 11 grams of fiber, hence why I didn’t add more veggies. Also, the two cups of Egg whites was fat free, and rather than add a few whole eggs, I chose to go with a saturated fat source with 2 oz. of the Cabot Cheese, which gave me about 18 grams of fat for the meal. It was moderate fat, high protein, high fiber, and low carb. I figured since i had the fiber already, not having veggies wasn’t a big deal since I take Superfood.
