So, today I did the first workout from CT’s “Get Jacked Fast”. Thought I was going to die.
I had the bright idea of replacing back squats with front squats for the first exercise… And took my 8RM weight (187 lbs), thinking: well, this should be cake. Barely managed to do 6 on the first set. 5 on the second set, and had to pause after the first 3 reps to get even that much in. Dropped weight to 176 lbs for sets 3 and 4, and barely managed to do 5 reps in each set with a pause in each…
So, I was already dying by the time I was done with the first two exercises. By the Romanian Deadlifts, I already knew to humble myself when picking the weight, but even with a very light weight (200 lbs), it was still tough as hell. I was spent after 4 exercises, had to replace lunges with leg presses, because there was no way in hell I’d survive the lunges without projectile vomiting and passing out, regardless of how much willpower I have, lol.
So, yeah… I think this programme is gonna be brutal. It’s not even so much the weight as it is the special techniques at this point (all I ever do is an occasional drop-set). I’m kinda scared of losing strength, because I can’t use anywhere near 80% of my 1RM with all these special techniques, but I trust CT enough to persevere with the programme.
How’s everyone else handling it so far? I’m sure I’ve seen a few people mention this man-breaking leg workout on the forums, lol, and would love to hear about everyone’s results.
On a side-note… Out of those doing the programme, is everyone following the PWO instructions to a T? I don’t have access to some of the amino acids necessary, so I had some malto/dextro/leucine and a mango PWO today, along with whey. Feeling kinda guilty about it, lol, but I’m not sure what other options I have, aside from taking straight whey.
