Hey novagreg - congrats on the good work so far. I am sort of following along with you on the meal plan. You are doing great.
I had a question about your A.M. cardio. You always say it is “first thing in the morning.” I read through the posts but I could not figure out one thing:
Does that mean you are doing it on an empty stomach?

As to your IPOD, if you like Guns n Roses, you will probably like Velvet Revolver. Check out their CD’s “Contraband” and “Libertad” if you don’t have 'em already. My ipod’s hard drive probably has deep grooves in it on “Contraband” – that’s my “Leg Day” favorite.
When I have tried the low-approach approach, I always get some brutal headaches at about the 3 or 4 day mark. Have you experienced this at all and if you have, what did you do to overcome it.
How are you feeling with the morning walks? Has this altered your sleeping patterns??
Hey man,
To elaborate on this more, let me just say I’m someone who LOVES to sleep. In a perfect world, I’d love to go to bed around 3 am, and wake up between 11 am and noon. That being said, working in retail, my schedule varies from week to week. I think Chad Waterbury once said he feels awful waking up, but after about 10-15 minutes, he’s fine. That pretty much sums up this week for me.
A HUGE part of the motivation for me is knowing that I’m repairing my insulin sensitivity right now, which will help not only my overall health and body composition, but it will make me more successful when bulking later this spring.

I was asking you because of that same reason. Whenever I tend to go to sleep later (as in some last years) my bodyfat tends to increase. However this year I have made conscious effor to get that infamous NEPA of 30 to 40min fasted every morning and the bodyfat lost is considerable, no change in diet whatsoever.
I am checking your clinic every day too. Keep up the good work man.
Ohh and on the abs thing do as much as you can. Having strong abs doesn’t only come from squatting or deadlifting. Check out some of Dave Tate’s logs. The guy does abs nearly every day with weights. That should tell you something.
Thanks for taking the time to reply, novegreg. Good to see everything going well.
My music suggestions for some deeply motivating, self-loathing inspired destruction in the weight room are:
Alice In Chains
-Man in the Box
-Rooster
-Them Bones
-We Die Young
-Dam That River
-Rain When I Die
-Sea of Sorrow
-I Stay Away
-Fear the Voices
-I Can’t Remember
Megadeth
-Elysian Fields
-Tears in a Vial
-Die Dead Enough
-Trust
-In My Darkest Hour
-Kill the King
-Angry Again
-Crush 'Em
Great job on the progress. We are all rooting for you.
Any idea why they have you taking Grow! Whey instead of just more Metabolic Drive? Is it to meant to be taken instead of SURGE Recovery (which has carbs in it) so you can use BCAA’s and a fast digesting low-carb whey like Grow! since you’re trying to shed some pounds?

Ponce,
I asked this earlier, and novagreg replied that he had issues with milk products, but he is about to introduce Low-Carb Metabolic Drive in there. I do believe he is using some of the Grow! Whey as a post workout protocol, too, though. Novagreg can correct me if I’m wrong.
Hey guys, sorry for the delay, I just got done with a 10 hour shift at work. Thanks for all the music suggestions, you guys actually named some of my favorites. I saw Velvet Revolver and Alice In Chains this past summer in concert, they rocked the shit.
I actually am doing the cardio completely fasted. I do take my first dose of HOT-ROX Extreme beforehand.
The Metabolic Drive didn’t bother me at all, so I’ll be sticking with that for my last meal of the day.

I had leg day today, and I’m sure I’ll be hurting in the morning. On the upshot, the 60 minute walk should help alleviate some of the DOMS. [/quote]
Yeah I saw your routine, and it looked rough (in a good way). Glad you made it through the workout. Stay strong.
