Nova, Just remember one thing, “Difficult is not impossible.” if you ever feel like quitting, just remember this, Your not trying to be the first guy to swim the english channel, or the like, your doing something that alot of people’ve done. Drive on, I’m on day 15 of the V-Diet and its amazing, I still have cravings, and have to stay away from some situations, but you can do it.
Hey Greg, you wrote about variety being a key to sticking to the diet. I’m not going to make a rule here, but I am going to disagree.
I think that variety can be nice, but I think in some ways that a boring V-Diet can make the weekly HSM seem so much more appealing.
I’ve just started the fourth week and so far lost 17 pounds and 5%bf, all on just chocolate and vanilla and since I can’t stand chocolate or vanilla by themselves, I just mix them in a proportion that I can stomach.
One thing that does work well for me is to blend up the entire day’s worth of shakes the night before with a couple of ice cubes and make it thick. Then, the following day, first thing in the morning, I pour an 8oz glass 3/4 full and top it off with water and mix with a spoon to a nice thin gruel like consistency and enjoy
A couple of hours later, my hunger starts in so I grab a cup of green tea and a HOT-ROX and so on throughout the day.
Cheers,
Dan
Wow, V-Diet! Looks like I need to hang around this thread more now!
I did the V-Diet during the Christmas holidays… seemed like a good idea at the time, but wow… I was being bombarded, it seemed, by massive holiday food advertisements! And I had to respectfully decline some holiday luncheons because at those critical points, I couldn’t be around food. I think Shugs calls that the proximity defense. ![]()
I quit fast food 2 years ago and haven’t missed it… well, except for perhaps french fries, :). But Day #3 of the V-Diet and every horrible fast food ad on TV made me nuts! New Taco Bell Enchi-chulapa-stada! New Pizza Butt Extra Fat Crust! Let’s make a Jack Sandwich! BLLAARRGGHH!! I never cared for that stuff before, but part of the detox and transition at the beginning is getting used to the restrictions, and that can make you very susceptible to stimuli like smells, sights and sounds of food you normally wouldn’t care about.
Don’t worry, it will go away. I had my glitches during the first ten days, but after that it was more or less a breeze and I considered staying on it for a week longer.
One word of advice, if you take your NEPA walks during the dinner hour, consider a nose plug. Half joking here, but when I did it, I could tell what EVERYONE was having for dinner. Being downwind of an In 'N Out Burger didn’t help, either! ![]()
I lost 15 lbs in December and am ready to give it another go. I might have lost more if I had not messed up during the first week, but that’s a subject for my own thread that I will start soon.
Good luck, but luck has, well you know. ![]()
Here’s a short video I made when my supps arrived last November. I had a couple format issues getting it from 16:9 to 4:3. The opening shot was supposed to show all the cannisters stacked on my counter, but anyway… It’s on youtube also, if you want to see what it’s supposed to look like:

But you haven’t had any junk food since the beginning of the clinic around early December.
True, but I’m still prone to craving those foods, I’m human just like everyone else. One of the big things Shugart talks about with the Velocity Diet is that it helps to break people of those cravings. [/quote]
I found this comment very strange initially also and stuck out like a sore thumb. Probably due to the lack of detail in the blog before.
Did you ever since December slip away from the diet , just once even or have you kept to the clean diet since december? Not meaning this in a bad way, just curious? If so and you got shit food cravings the first time since u started eating clean since december (that youve acknowledged publically really) is pretty strange.
Also how does ur body feel now? 4 days without food and im suspecting your stomach is gonna be feeling pretty light and your gonna be starting to feel alot lighter. Can you feel any changes on your body so far? I can after eating clean for 4 days because my diet can be shit at times!
Let us know if you feel there is a difference already? You know your body better than any scales! If this works out for you then im considering it for a stint also!

No slip ups since December, but eating clean foods and then having 28 days with only four whole food meals and the rest coming from shakes are two very different things, at least to me.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely hungry at times, but it usually passes, and I never feel like I’m starving. The Low-Carb Metabolic Drive is great at filling me up for 3-4 hours at a time.
Man, can I relate to the crazy hunger. Don’t worry, it will fade after the first week or so. Could suck until then though! The green tea and Hot-Rox helps.

Still seems weird that after 3 months of clean eating you start craving junk food after like 3 days on the v-diet?? Your Physique Clinic really sucks, not even because you’re not losing weight but because your updates are terrible. Seriously, everything you write is in point form as compared to the other Clinics who actually write a decent amount. How hard can it be to talk about what you’re doing??
Greg, I’ve experienced the same thing. The HRX helps a lot, and I just started taking it so my body hasn’t developed a tolerance for it like yours probably has. I’ve also been cold a lot, but again the HRX helped with that as well. My body definitely fights back when I diet as yours probably does as well. It sucks, but we’ll get through it.
Anybody else think its a bad sign that we havent had an update in two days
I would say its a bad sign also. also i would like him to update his weight on a daily basis.
His absence probably has nothing to do with a drinking binge.
And for everyone who will talk shit on the above; get over it. Dude has not posted in 2 days with no explanation why. At this point he should be expecting, perhaps even deserving these types of “negative” comments.
And BTW, I am not the one who first accused him of being a drunk.
Shugart did.
LIGHT WEIGHT!!! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Greg, if you are around and are well, give us a shout over here. People need to stop breaking his balls, and let the man be. No one needs to rip on him anymore.
For all the free stuff he gets, I think we can break his balls a tad.
The hateration on this site is growing day by day!
I’ve never had a problem until now, almost 2 days without updates?
I don’t know. It’s only 48 hours. We’d all like an update, but really… he might actually have a life outside of T-Nation.
Maybe.

Life? What is this life you speak of? =)
I’ve tried to stay out of it for the most part but for the sake of internet fun here is my take.
Maybe Greg has too many coddler’s. Perhaps if there were less nut nuzzling on good ol Greg then he might get some actual progress. Everyone is quick to be his internet buddy and stick up for him, which is fine to a point but all of this “constructive reinforcement” knob slobbing is making me sick.
Dude hasn’t produced and now in the most critical juncture of his Clinic to date he isn’t even updating. If there is something serious that has happened then I apologize whole heartedly. With that being said though, who really needs another excuse.
Not me.
Nothing but a peanut…

I don’t think it matters what anyone says. Neither the nut kissers nor the trashers have an impact on him.
I can’t wait to see his progress report. I hope it’s 5kg+ otherwise he’ll need to see a doctor.
