Hey novagreg, really liked this post in your PC thread:
“My discussion thread is really out of control at this point. I’m not gonna waste time responding to a bunch of negative comments, or arguing on the internet with people I don’t know. I’m going forward, and I’m going reach the finish line in six weeks. Like Dan John always says, it’s simple, but not easy.”
Good approach. Let the haters hate and the supporters support. You have WAY more supporters than haters, and I know you’re gonna do great on the V-Diet.

Is there any chance that a new discussion thread could be started for NG that pertains only to the V-Diet??
I would like to hear HIS thoughts regarding the V-Diet especially the diet itself, the NEPA walks and the workouts.
NG is starting the V-Diet from a very unique position, his recent foundation has been set by a world class strength coach ( CT) and a fat loss expert ( Shugs). This differs greatly from all other accounts of the V-Diet and I think his thoughts would be of great benefit.

GREAT idea, Varnish.
NoveGreg, this V-Diet phase is like a clean slate. No matter what has gone down (or not) to this point is meaningless. Take it one day at a time and keep your determination, and focus on the positive. Lots of people are pulling for you!
Shugs is absolutely correct about the V-Diet. I haven’t V-Dieted my kids … Yet. Actually, they don’t need the weight loss, they need the detox and taste bud changes. Day one of my V-Diet was March 2. So, I’m just under 3/4 of the way through the shake only phase. I started at just under 25%bf according to the USAF bf calculator.
I’ve gone from 223.5 to 207.5 this morning and I’m thinking that I’m close to 20%bf but I haven’t run the numbers yet. This includes belly from 42" to 38.25" BUT, the most important thing is that those weekly healthy solid food meals are pure ambrosia. I lust after a spinach salad with a Paillard sirloin steak on top. Burger and fries, minimal attraction. Girl Scout cookies minimal attraction. Spinach salads, BRING IT ON!!!
Turn the page and start fresh. I tried the V-Diet last year but I didn’t bring the proper mindset with me, I had subpar results and quickly reverted back to the old ways. This time, my mindset is different. This time it’s a change of who I am, not just losing some weight. You can change too. Bring your “A” game and a proper mindset and you will be a new person too.

What? No offense to Nova and I hope this works for him, BUT many people have started the diet from a much better position. Considerably leaner, having trained hard for years, with a high level of muscular development, and really knowing their bodies. That’s who the diet was ORIGINALLY intended for. Really serious trainees who are damn near close to where they want to be already. The diet ITSELF that he is going to be following is no different than it ever is. Still, I would like to hear his thoughts on his progress and experience too. This discussion board has become useless. Just people taking potshots [warranted or not] and people defending just as vehemently. But it’s useless. People need to just get over it and stop.
Hey Greg, I was watching this human body special on the Discovery Channel the other day (yes, I’m a geek) and they profiled a guy who swam the English Channel. Because the water is so cold and swimming in rough waters is grueling, they said he burned up to 3,000 calories per hour.
It took him about 17 hours to swim the 21 miles, so in that time he lost 16 lbs. of fat. That’s about right since 1 lb. = 3,500 calories. I can’t imagine he didn’t take in any nutrition during the swim, but still. So, Greg, if the V-Diet doesn’t work, it’s off to jolly old England with you!
Just kidding with you. I figured this thread desperately needed some humor. I’m doing the V-Diet myself and feeling a bit loopy. Right now, the English Channel option doesn’t sound so bad.
But none of your criticism was constructive just abusive.
You refuse to take the same risks as Greg by putting your own training out there but you are more than happy (and have the time to) criticize his? Without establishing who you are and what your level of expertice is everything you say will be just talk from the back row. Look, everything in your above post cannot be verified or validated, its very convenient. Not only that but you really think that NO ONE on this site is cappable of helping you in your training? Then why are you even here?
Really dude Whatever, Muffass is right in that this is a Greg vs Greg battle. But your inflammatory comments (and others including both coaches) made it personal. Greg is a better man then me because I would have told Chris to blow it out his ass a month ago. No amount of free supps is worth being vilified for…
I don’t care if you believe I’m real or not. Everything I’ve been calling Nova out on for the last month was true. Take it for what it’s worth. I don’t give a fuck what people think, my track record speaks for itself.
I started calling him out on not being 237 or whatever. Come to find out, shocker, he’s more like 258. I’ve been saying there’s no way with the diet and cardio he’s claiming that he’s not losing weight. Then the coaches and everybody in the world starts jumping his ass about it. Whatever.
I could get on here and discuss credentials yeah I’ve got some, but you’d never believe me, so what’s the point? One thing you can believe is all this stuff I’ve been bitching about forever was true all along, but everybody was too busy calling me “toxic” and kissing Nova’s ass to see it.
Well, I’m going to start bitching now. Two days into the V-Diet and Greg isn’t posting shit about what he’s going through or what it’s been like doing the V-Diet for the first time. I know, since I just completed my first V-Diet last month, that I was feeling and thinking A LOT of different things. Even through the last week, I’d catch myself thinking about blowing off the diet about 20 times per day; and having to talk myself into staying the course.
SO GREG, HOW BOUT YOU DO YOUR PART AND SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCES WITH T-Nation FOLLOWERS!!!

SeaHag,
It’s up. When I got home from work my internet connection was out. I went out tonight after my fourth shake around 10 pm, and I just got home in the last 30 minutes to get my last shake of the day. I shared some of my feelings, and I definitely am experiencing alot of the same feelings you had.
Because I live in Europe I have not tried the Da Vinci sugar-free syrups but Vanilla Metabolic Drive + Cinnamon and Choc Metabolic Drive + Instant Coffee really helped me stick to the diet (2 times so far. Considering a 3. time to get really ripped).
Get those Fiber Choice tabs as soon as possible to help in managing hunger.

But you haven’t had any junk food since the beginning of the clinic around early December.

True, but I’m still prone to craving those foods, I’m human just like everyone else. One of the big things Shugart talks about with the Velocity Diet is that it helps to break people of those cravings.
I’m doing this V-Diet thing, too. It was time for me to do it. I have many of the issues you have: I’ve had slow progress on conventional diets and I’m lactose intolerant. Feel free to PM anytime for moral support. I started Monday, and it does get better.

-I remember reading an article in Muscle Media by Charles Staley where he spoke about when you count reps, and your shooting for 5, count backwards, down to 1. I’m doing that in my head with this V-Diet. As far as I’m concerned, this was day 27, onto day 26.
Don’t forget Dan John’s strategy. He would tell himself daily “I’ll quit the diet tomorrow. Just not today.”

I like that alot, nice mental trick. I’m about to go back and re-read the articles on Dan’s transformation.
