Physique Clinic discussion for novagreg

Honestly, I bet Nova, like perhaps other members of the clinic, is going to show up 6 months after the clinic has ended having completely taken advantage of Coach Thibaudeau’s free coaching offer, and is going to have some killer after pictures and stats that’ll blow everyone away, especially those who doubted his dedication to training and diet, which is something I made a point of not criticizing.
I agree completely, there is no doubt that all the clinic participants have been putting in a huge amount of effort and it is already paying off. Also that Coach T, T-Nation, and Shugs deserve a huge thank you not only from the participants but from the rest of the community here that have been gathering the knowledge bombs they have been dropping.

Superior products + Superior knowledge = Kick ass results!

Nova,

Here’s are a few things that I think would make your Clinic a LOT more interesting for us reading:

Post thoughts on every meal

Right now you just copy and paste the meal plan sent to you by Coach Thibaudeau. That’s pretty boring to read. How do you prepare it? What meals leave you hungriest? Read USCTrojan619’s clinic. Look at the detail. It’s got shit about his schedule, about how he prepares it. That’s what the coaches want to see. That’s why when he had to leave he got a nice big “NICE WORK!” on his Clinic pictures.

Post YOUR thoughts

The best clinics are introspective. You keep asking questions for the coaches to answer. That’s bullshit. I’d rather read YOUR thoughts on YOUR life. And not just “I was tired after weight training but I did cardio.” That’s not interesting. Everyone KNOWS that weight training is tiring and that you’re going to be tired when you get to your cardio. We don’t need to read it.

Go into specifics about YOUR LIFE. What’s your gym like? How far do you travel to get to it? How hard is it to squeeze weight training and multiple cardio sessions into your day?

I would have thought it would be tough managing that much time working out, but you’ve barely said a word about it. And you’re starting a new job. How do you deal with it?

What are you friends like? How are they responding? I know this is the internet, and I know you probably don’t want people to recognize you (because you blur your face in all your pictures), but honestly, a few details won’t hurt. No one’s going to read a Physique Clinic Thread, say, “Man, I’ma cut that guy UP!” and then hunt you down. So post something that the reader can identify with; an anecdote or something. ANYthing.

Take better/more pictures

Find a spot on a shelf or something and mark it with tape. Then find a spot on the floor a few feet away and mark that with tape. Stick your camera on the shelf, then stand on the other piece of tape. Do this every time you take pictures.

All your pictures are hard to compare. Get them from all the same angle with the same lighting every time and people will be able to see SOME changes, maybe.

Maybe take pictures of you working out. Or a meal you’re eating. I’d like to see what your meal plan actually physically LOOKS like when you make it.

Show some spunk, son

Bartl’s clinic got a ton better (it’s a fantastic read right now) when he basically said, “Fuck it, you wanna know what’s on my mind, well I’m going to give it to you and screw you if you don’t like it.”

Show you fucking care. Get pissed - at me, at the coaches, at the the weights. Whatever. Do you care about not being a fat ass? Let that come through in your thoughts about the clinic.

By the time this is over, you’ll have been given hundreds and hundreds of dollars of free supplements and free coaching, as well as the whole forum of the Physique Clinic to hold you partly accountable - fucking take advantage of it, and earn it. The two go hand in hand.
Hey nice post!

I think I will take a few of those sentiments for myself.

It’s like when Crew made that post where he felt he was just going through the motions.

It’s all about conscious living, the examined life I suppose.

Keep on keepin on Greg, you’re doing good.

How are you liking the alternating veggies and fats days? The fats days look really tasty with the PB in there, I’m sure you’re lovin it.

Keep rollin man, we got your back!

Hey Tmoney1,
The protein/fat days are great taste wise. The Protein and Veggie days left me really hungry initially, but honestly, the HOT-ROX Extreme helps teremendously. Thanks for the support bro!

Hey Nova, will Thibs let you use jalapenos or chili peppers? Hot and spicey alway works for me. I even add just the juice from the jar of jalapenos when cooking my dinner sometimes and it tastes great.

Sorry Nova!!! I was trying to find something to change things up for you.

That’s ok Octobergirl, I appreciate the help!

Hey Nova I think your waist is looking smaller fella! All the measurements must be encouraging.

Thanks OctoberGirl! Yeah, the ball is rolling now, just have to keep going.

Novagreg, making good progress. Definitely slimmer in the waist, and you’re gaining some muscle.

Quick question: If you don’t want to answer, no big deal. I was reading in your Physique Clinic thread you are at a crossroads with your career. If I remember correctly, you started with a new company a few weeks ago (maybe it’s been a couple of months now). Are you not liking it there, or are you saying that your job transition is your crossroads?

Just curious. Either way, good luck, you’re rollin now!

Hey Tmoney,
There are a few things happening on the job front this week, but I will keep you posted bro!

Wow, you are the first person in history to go on a caloric restriction and not lose weight, or you are not doing the diet or exercise prescription at all. I know this is forward, but, jesus dude you look like you havent lost a pound. Somebody else deserves this, not you. You have had plenty of chances. There is no way you are doing EXACTLY what your told. This is bullshit. Just my opinion.

If Shugart and CT thought my progress was not adequate, they would have shown me the door two weeks ago. I’m glad you took the time for your second post ever on T-Nation to try and cut me down, belittle the progress that I’ve made, and provide a textbook example of toxic behavior towards someone else.

Like Shugs said in his blog today, alot of people quit because in six weeks they don’t look like a bodybuilder. Well it’s the 12th week, and I don’t look like a bodybuilder, but there’s no fucking way I’m giving up.

Well, somebody needed to say it. You’ve been given this great opportunity and you haven’t done much with it. You had much more room for improvement than both Gus and Bartl, but compare your pics with theirs, it makes no sense. Even Chris pointed this out in a thread, which I was hoping he would do. In fact, I was complimentary of their results, so no, I’m not just trying to be “toxic” on you.

I just found it laughable that you’re doing 45-60 minutes of cardio per day and eating such restricted amounts while not losing weight. Science does not support your claim. I was beginning to wonder if you had a metabolic disease, because all the data was not pointing to the results you were getting. Since they got on you a little bit, you also started to see better results, that’s kind of ironic.

I’ve been reading the Clinics since day 1, and this was just stuff I can’t believe other people weren’t saying. Anyway, I do wish you the best, despite the fact that I was probably a little hard on you.

Hey Nova!

Remember to take what helps you from any posts and forget the rest.

Okay… I just paraphrased Bruce Lee on your thread but it suits! That and I had a crush on him.

Whatever encourages you, motivates you, and keeps you focussed use, throw the rest away and keep working

Any have some good music suggestions? I’m always plugged into my IPOD, and since I’m spending over 15 hours per week at the gym for the next 11 weeks, I’m all up for some suggestions. Some of my favorite bands are Motorhead, Killswitch Engage, Guns N Roses, Van Halen, etc.
Full Devil Jacket, American Headcharge, Skrape, and Pantera.

Interestingly enough both negative posters are people who have less than 5 posts on the board, with no pictures in their profiles, and similar writing styles.

hmmmmmmmmmmm

Thanks for the suggestions man. I’m a big Pantera fan, but I’ll look into those other bands starting tomorrow.
