Physique Clinic discussion for novagreg

Thanks Al! You know, CT posted my overall diet on the forum, and I don’t believe he listed the calories. Coach, if you read this, maybe you can answer it. Honestly, I don’t even sweat it, I just focus on what’s listed for each meal.

Happy birthday Greg!

Congrats on the B-day Bro!

Am I the only one that’s surprised “Hysteria” wasn’t topping the charts more than 20 years ago?

Hey guys,
I’m in dire need of more music suggestions. I also want to know what you all do to get yourselves fired up for training. Let’s get this thread going again. As always, if you want to know something, just ask me.

I do that.

Seriously?

Hey Greg!

seems like you are hitting the tough mental uphill climb right now. If you just bear down and get through it, maybe even do more and better than you intended, I bet in two weeks you are going to be happy and see the difference.

You seem to be really into the music your are listening too and that is great.

Do you have thoughts going on in your head when you are pushing it at the gym or do you just kind of listen to the music and do your workout?

I’ve learned that I need to be OCD about things when I need to make a change. I diagram, plan, color code, chart, consult seers/psychics and witch doctors, whatever, but then I just focus on the THING I am doing.

Glad to read you are not giving up yet Greg.

Hey OctoberGirl, nice to hear from you. I know this is the grind phase, and I’m going to continue to push as hard as possible. It was never an option to quit, it’s not in my vocabulary.

In terms of what I think about, I’m pretty much just thinking about things that piss me of. It can be anything as trivial as something day to day, or something more deep rooted, like thinking about people doubting me, but I’ll take those negative feelings and channel them into something productive.

CT said 6 weeks from now 220 is a realistic goal. All I can say is that I can’t wait for 6 weeks from now; stay tuned.

Great job thus far with the fat loss. As Chris and CT mentioned, when dealing with a significant amount of fat loss, it can be discouraging at first because the visual results are not apparent at first. Like Chris said, sometimes there is a layer (or 3) of lard which must be removed to get to the underneath muscle.

This has discouraged me in the past and caused me to quit on occasions because I didnt feel like I was making progress I could see. With Chris and CT pointing this out, which now makes perfect sense, I know in the future to stick with it. I hope you do too, keep going fella.

Thanks Maximus, I appreciate the support bro. I wish you the best of luck with all your training goals. But if I can borrow a line, luck won’t have anything to do with either of us meeting our goals.

if you like hard music, check out…

the warriors - transistor

this song preps me for a heavy lift like none other.

pullups with 90lbs extra feels like a piece of cake with this song cranked up realllll high.

Good job with the progress, the 5 lb weight loss is great, keep up the hard work!

Hey Nova been following your progress with much interest.
congrats on the progress as of late you really stepped it up. Quick question how many grams of protien are you taking in each day. thanks

Hey jmkb1,
Actually when CT gave me the last phase of the nutrition, he just posted it on my thread, and I do not believe that he listed the exact grams of protein. Thanks for the support, I appreciate it!

Nova,

Here’s are a few things that I think would make your Clinic a LOT more interesting for us reading:

Post thoughts on every meal

Right now you just copy and paste the meal plan sent to you by Coach Thibaudeau. That’s pretty boring to read. How do you prepare it? What meals leave you hungriest? Read USCTrojan619’s clinic. Look at the detail. It’s got shit about his schedule, about how he prepares it. That’s what the coaches want to see. That’s why when he had to leave he got a nice big “NICE WORK!” on his Clinic pictures.

Post YOUR thoughts

The best clinics are introspective. You keep asking questions for the coaches to answer. That’s bullshit. I’d rather read YOUR thoughts on YOUR life. And not just “I was tired after weight training but I did cardio.” That’s not interesting. Everyone KNOWS that weight training is tiring and that you’re going to be tired when you get to your cardio. We don’t need to read it.

Go into specifics about YOUR LIFE. What’s your gym like? How far do you travel to get to it? How hard is it to squeeze weight training and multiple cardio sessions into your day?

I would have thought it would be tough managing that much time working out, but you’ve barely said a word about it. And you’re starting a new job. How do you deal with it?

What are you friends like? How are they responding? I know this is the internet, and I know you probably don’t want people to recognize you (because you blur your face in all your pictures), but honestly, a few details won’t hurt. No one’s going to read a Physique Clinic Thread, say, “Man, I’ma cut that guy UP!” and then hunt you down. So post something that the reader can identify with; an anecdote or something. ANYthing.

Take better/more pictures

Find a spot on a shelf or something and mark it with tape. Then find a spot on the floor a few feet away and mark that with tape. Stick your camera on the shelf, then stand on the other piece of tape. Do this every time you take pictures.

All your pictures are hard to compare. Get them from all the same angle with the same lighting every time and people will be able to see SOME changes, maybe.

Maybe take pictures of you working out. Or a meal you’re eating. I’d like to see what your meal plan actually physically LOOKS like when you make it.

Show some spunk, son

Bartl’s clinic got a ton better (it’s a fantastic read right now) when he basically said, “Fuck it, you wanna know what’s on my mind, well I’m going to give it to you and screw you if you don’t like it.”

Show you fucking care. Get pissed - at me, at the coaches, at the the weights. Whatever. Do you care about not being a fat ass? Let that come through in your thoughts about the clinic.

By the time this is over, you’ll have been given hundreds and hundreds of dollars of free supplements and free coaching, as well as the whole forum of the Physique Clinic to hold you partly accountable - fucking take advantage of it, and earn it. The two go hand in hand.

That post is the biggest bunch of horse shit I have read in a long time. He isn’t here for you fucking entertainment. Don’t like his thread then don’t read it. What did you pay for his supps? Did you hire him to write the story of his life and post it here for you to read? He owes you less then shit…

Here is a thought, get off the Internet and go do something with your own life…

He is “here” for the entertainment of T-Nation. That’s the deal - he gets free supplements and free coaching, and in return he posts his thoughts to help other T-Nation members. Yeah, it’s a responsibility that he signed up for when he signed up for the Physique Clinic.

He is, on average, posting less than the other members of the Clinic. I don’t think it’s unfair to ask him to post a little more and to give a little more insight into what his diet and training is really like in day to day life. Sure, my post was a bit of a kick in the ass, but it’s mostly just ideas as to what he can write about when he’s posting his daily thoughts.

Oh, and I’m sorry that the 5 minutes it takes to browse the physique clinic threads and the 10 minutes I spent writing my post is too much time on the Internet.

No, I didn’t pay for his supplements or anything. I don’t really have a place to criticize because I’m not in his position. Just like I’m free to ignore his thread he’s free to ignore my posts and suggestions.

Honestly, Novagreg, I hope you do well. I’d just like to see a little more insight into the day to day life stuff in regards to the diet. If I’m the only one who feels that way then ignore me. I’m just another asshole on the internet.

EDIT: To Novagreg: Actually dude, I do want to really reiterate that I support you and I give you credit for the crazy levels of cardio and low carbs you’re doing. Like you say, I could wish you luck… but luck won’t have anything to do with it.

I didn’t say you spent too much time on the Internet, I said get off the Internet and do something yourself…Inferring that people in glass houses, well you know.

The whole tone of you post was no where close to what any one reasonable would call supportive.

I’ll drop it now, cause I don’t want to clutter Greg’s thread with negativity. But feel free to come over to my thread in the over 35 section if you want to carry on the discussion…

Fair enough. Perhaps I should have changed the tone of my post before hitting submit.

novagreg was kind enough to PM me; I’m glad he didn’t take offense to it, because that wasn’t the intention.

I agree about the negativity in the thread, so if I continue this discussion, I’ll do it in your thread later on, perhaps.

Honestly, I bet Nova, like perhaps other members of the clinic, is going to show up 6 months after the clinic has ended having completely taken advantage of Coach Thibaudeau’s free coaching offer, and is going to have some killer after pictures and stats that’ll blow everyone away, especially those who doubted his dedication to training and diet, which is something I made a point of not criticizing.
