I’m opening up Metroflex Gym North. You might have heard of a little guy named Ronnie Coleman–well he trains at Metroflex in Arlington, TX. His trainer is Brian Dobson. Mr. Dobson and I are opening another hardcore facility in Garland, TX (north west dallas). Im going to cater to anyone who has an attitude to better themselves–the regular joe is invited just as well–but they better be ready to hear some people make some noise and to be throughly personally trained for a reasonable price.
Every Tuesday I will have a guest lifter or champion of somesort to give lessons or be hired as a trainer. Contact me Tom Rutherford if you are interested!!! I have the equipment–and tons of weight already!!! Lets go!!!

Yes good luck…but why metroflex? Its like metrosexuals…flexing…
hahahaha
… I was going to post a picture of a metro lifting weights… but that is not a phrase I’m going to EVER type into google images again. Way to many penis’s. Or I think it’s “Peni” if it’s more than one.
Anyways, good luck with the gym, it’s difficult for hardcore gyms to stay afloat nowadays but we need them.

The mods should delete this post. They joined the site just to make one post to advertise their gym? Pretty lame.
Who cares? It’s not exactly cluttering up the site with spam (there are much worse posts in nearly every forum), and I, for one, would appreciate it if someone spread the word about a hardcore gym that features weekly visits from guest lifters/champions opening up in my area - even if it is the owner doing the advertising. He’s not cramming it down our throats, and the thread title isn’t exactly misleading.
Given the fact that a lot of people seem to hate the Lunk Alarm-armed they’re at, shit like this should be encouraged so long as it’s not obnoxiously advertised or spammed.

Agreed, I hope someone opens one of these near me and I find the post here. Hell, T-Nation should “certify” gyms and advertise them here for a price.
Well the name METROFLEX actually is due to living in the “dallas-fort worth METROPLEX” so Brian Dobson (Ronnie Coleman’s trainer) decided in about 1985 to call it Metroflex. You can access his site at www.metroflexgym.com
I am glad that I got some responses to this thread. I have alot of equipment and picked up another 3000 lbs in weight, a smith machine, and a heavy duty power rack yesterday. I’m really pumped now!
This isnt just advertising for me so this is a worthy and valid thread–why would I get slammed for promoting the often misunderstood sports of bodybuilding and powerlifting? I’m trying to get people’s suggestions about what a hardcore gym is!!! What equipment should I have? If you live in the north Dallas area–where should I put the gym? Or if you have any professional leg machines for sale and live in the dallas-fort worth metroplex–contact me. heck contact me with any questions!!! I’ll be checking this daily–thanks Tom

Good luck with your gym, man. I do agree that if I had never heard of Ronnie Coleman (of whom I own every single training video I believe), that MetroFlex would sound kind of weak…however, because I know who he is, it sounds just the opposite. Take care of business.

I am going to have to disagree here. If Ronnie Coleman lifted at “Nancy Boys”, that wouldn’t make it sound any less weak.
I am sure the place has history and whatnot. Just the name makes it sound like people are gelling up their hair before they lift.

Trust me, if Coleman had trained the same way at Nancy Boys, everyone would feel exactly the same. It would be like calling big guys “Tiny”.
I doubt their goal is to attract the “average gym goer” anyway. Most of their potential costumers have heard of Coleman.
no prob AmandaSC! Id be glad with any positive or negative comments about what a hardcore gym is…especially from a woman’s point of view. I’m going to have two bathrooms one for men and one for women–but what other ideas do you have to attract women other than self-defense classes and ladies night (where I have a pro female figure or bodybuilder be a guest trainer)? thanks for your help! Tom
