-[]------[]- Olympic Lift Numbers/Log 2 -[]------[]-

I finally got some program to edit my videos and I watched some videos of people better than me and noticed a few things.

1)I don’t know if I somehow have way strong calves compared to the average person, but I doubt it, but I noticed I can use my feet a lot more than most lifters. I don’t know if its intentional on their part or if they simply can’t, but either way I do.

2)Those lifters who are better than me, actually do use their calves a lot more during power cleans or power snatches. but during normal snatches or cleans their feets barely leave the floor, maybe an inch at the most and seems like its only to reposition their feet.

  1. in my previous videos, I used my feet as much as possible in the power cleans and the 100kg attempt at a normal clean, but I barely used them in the 95kgs clean yet I managed to make that one.

Now I’ve already heard that some people say its best to barely lift your feet, others go the other way and say jump as high as you can.

Anyway, next time I clean I’ll try using my feet less and see what happens. Any ideas/suggestions?

so went in today, starting to show my friend the ropes and hoping to get him hooked on the iron, which I’m sure will happen. Anyhow, just conditioning today.

GPP which was basically medicine ball work

Hypers
bw x 10
10kg x4x3

light bar work

lunges 50x3x3

Some clean and jerks @ 50kg and that was it, stretching and some abs and jumps. Saturday will be a good workout.

In my experience, worrying about minutae details like this will only hinder your lifts. With enough explosive hip drive, you will shrug and go on your toes naturally.

To be specific, staying focused on making the big details better will make little details like that better. In your case, really think about driving with your hips, and everything will fall in place.

That being said, I actually suck at lifting, so take my advice with a grain of salt.

Snatch: 40/5, 50/3, 55/3, 60/2, 65/2, 70/2, 75/2x2, 80/2 (PR)

C&J: 50/3, 60/3, 70/2, 80/2, 90/2, 95/2x2

Squat: 50/5, 70/3, 90/3, 110/3, 120/2, 125/2, 130/2

Yo brahs,

anyone try Surge Workout Fuel and Surge Recovery?

I just ordered two of each. I better be snatching 120kg in 20 days or Surge Workout Fuel doesn’t live up to its name.

lol, your putting to much into it. I had a tub of workout fuel and I will say this much about it : It let me do two-a-days and not be sore or very fatigued at all. It gave me enough energy as well to get the hell home after lifting + work + lifting again.

That’s disappointing, I can do two a day + school right now without SWF.

Sooooooo what? 5 a day?

lordstorm88 I can’t be of much help but… IF you jumped from 90kg (near max) to 100kg (new max) that might have been a little too much.

the idea is recovery, it allows you to train longer, harder, heavier and more frequently, without taking anabolics.

Went in today, starting to teach Lee, might have more coming in, prepping for the inevitable FDU vs SHU battle royale. Trying to recruit as many as possible from FDU.

Anyhow…

preface : mischief night party last night + friends 22nd birthday, made sure I drank water inbetween all 11 drinks, no hangover, just tired.

PowerCleans + PowerJerk
50x5+1x2
60x4+1
70x3+1x3

Clean and Jerks
60x2+2
67x2+2
75x2+2
80x2+1x5 [good pulls, hard cleans, easy jerks. Absolute opposite of my normal cleans.]

Front Squats
70x3
85x3x3

Press from Squat Snatch Position
35x3x3

Jumps

abs

stretching

etc…

good workout, bw was 95.6kg, cleans felt good, lou mentioned I’m finishing nicely, and getting under, jerks were damned good.

snatch 5260, tried getting a better grip on the bar, with my whole hand(instead of just having a good “grip” with my thumb and the 2 fingers) and this turned out to help. on a couple lifts I could really tell I was shrugging my shoulders and using my hands during the 2nd pull.

didnt clean and jerk cause my collar bone was bruised and hurt quite a bit.

squats 44110kgs. that felt good. ill add 2.5 kgs every week.

Dynamic warm ups

bar work
40kg x 2reps
50kg x 2reps
60kg x 1rep
70kg x 1rep
80kg x 1rep
90kg x 1rep
100kg x 1rep

105kg x 1rep
105kg x 1rep
105kg x 1rep

Comment:
Snatch felt faster off the floor, 2nd pull felt a bit as well as pulling under the bar. I guess lack of actual lifting and ring rust. Felt I was doing weird things with my feet?

Clean and Jerk
40kg x 2reps
60kg x 1rep
80kg x 1rep
100kg x 1rep
115kg x 1rep
125kg x 0; wtf?! Failed the clean, traps are killing me and I guess I let it affect my lift and didn’t finish and the bar was well in front, goes to show no matter how strong you are if the bar is that bit too far away it’ll drop
straight back in
125kg x 1rep : finished the pull, better

135kg x 1rep ; some dancing
135kg x 1rep ; best rep
135kg x 0rep ; first time my hand as ever slipped off the bar, the blister was affecting my grip and I had half knocked my glasses off, reframed the glasses back on my face, set myself bounced the bar to get my hand under it and regrip, set myself and tried for the Jerk, no dice.

Back Squats: hand gashed can’t do front squats
60kg x 4reps
100kg x 2reps
140kg x 1rep

160kg x 3reps
160kg x 3reps
160kg x 3reps
160kg x 3reps
160kg x 3reps
160kg x 3reps

Squats felt easy

Tried some Dragon Flags at the Gymnastics club on Sunday also. First time I’ve ever managed to do full Dragon Flags biggrin.gif, it’s only taken me the best part of 9yrs and 13kg to be able to do it…heavy legs do not help this exercise

Just watched the lifting vid. Holy fucking christmas. I fucking love the battle cry dude. I otta come over the pond and train with you all. Enjoy the sunny weather and get really fucking excited and make some noise and shit. Yelling gets me a revved up to break stuff. I think i have some form of sub-clinical turrets. When im alone in my car i scream obscenities at the radio dj’s.

In other news: nice lifts. insane save on that jerk where the glasses tried to make a break for it.

LOL. I’ve been training with the SWF for the last 8-10 weeks. the review/read-out is this:

  • if you feel like shit and have to train [many days for me] a half bottle of your SWF before training or as you warm up will really get you feeling a ton better by the time your warm up snatchs are done

  • Helps me keep the necessary mental and physical energy for the Cl+Jk’s after heavy Sn work.

  • really really helps keep weight on. fuck me its eassy to maintain a BW while using this shit. I think i might actually have to reduce it to my heavy days only so i can drop the weight for provs.

  • training 6 days/week up to 85-90% on 3 out of 6 using SWF feels less tiring/fatiguing/draining than 3 days/week did without SWF.

The reality is that what you are getting is pretty much worth the cost. I used to jury rig similar training drink out of gstrolyte [hyration salts], rice oligo and BCAA/creatine bet-alanine and it cost slightly more than the SWF including tax/shipping.

So its rely not a bad deal all things considered. Will i be using it after provincials? probably not. Ill just save it till next time im 6 weeks out of comp.

Sn: 50/2 57.5/2 67.5/2 70/1 75/1 80/1x3 had to dance a bit with 2nd snatch.
ClJk: 60/2 70/2 80/2 86/1 92.5/1 100/1x3 little slow on one of these jerks.

Sounds good,

basically what I’m trying to get out of it is faster recovery, so I can train at a higher level of intensity all the time, and therefore get stronger.

  1. Take Surge Workout Fuel
  2. Lift
  3. ???
  4. PROFIT!

Yeah thats guy! Brandon! mofo! Strong! He’s lost some weight now? He was past 85kg when I last saw him compete at Woking a year or so ago. Bast! Whats his 1RM back squat? Must be at least 250-260kg?

I do want to convert Oly lifting is way cooler and much more fun to train, yeah he went off olympic lifting for a while was doing his masters so didn’t have much time to train hes back to training now. His best squat is 225 he doesn’t do 1RMs at all really except for comp lifts, he pulled 270 kg one day just to see what he could deadlift fucker makes me sick. lol.

Got a few guys together training on a tuesday and thursday night going pretty well so far hopefully I can get my clean to 140 by the end of the year.

it basically allows you to go above and beyond what you can do now. And to feel better about it. Overall its worth it.
