I don’t get your point with that comment. The session looks pretty well constructed to me, maybe a bit too much pulling, but it depends on the proposed intensity/volume intended.

It was intended tongue-in-cheek, but that is a lot of volume to try to cram in within 100 minutes.

Good luck to you too.
Oh geez, that’s across the entire landmass. Yea, I would really like to compete in the Pan-Ams in the near future.

the usual stuff, except no press.

fair enough. My humour receptors must have been frazzled. I do see what you mean, but it’s still nearly 2 mins rest per set, not including warm up sets, so it’s not that bad.

Still far more intense than my sessions though - do a set, sit down and chat… have a drink… adjust the weight… sit down again… start feeling cold… do another set!

I must start to pull my finger out.

Looks quite a bit like some of the session in the programmes on the qwa website

He used to work for QWA back in the 90’s so thats probably not a co-incidence. I’m genuinely amazed at how many people on here have seen or used QWA’s programs. They’re actually a really small organisation and i think they’d be pretty pleased to know that someone on the other side of the world has benefited from their stuff.
I can’t remember how I came across there website, but I’ve used their programmes before now.

Come to think of it you look a bit like Ben Turner who features quite heavily on the qwa website… are you?

6/19

I once read somewhere that the body can only tell the difference when you add 6% or more weight to the lift, probably blowing smoke out their ass, but I usually go by that.
Not an O lifter by any means, but the 6% is an anecdote from cognitive psychology. The theory is that the human mind can only distinguish differences when the change is 6% or greater (in terms of size, distance, etc) but I am fairly positive that this has not been subject to testing involving weight.

Haha no. The guy in my avatar is Naim Suleymanoglu.

I do know Ben Turner though. His club and our club are friendly rivals.

Anyway i’m off to go do some cleaning, probably followed by jerking.

Well… I don’t think I will be competing at the meet in NJ next week. I will be there to help 'n shit.

Although my Leg and shoulder strength is up, my back, c.o.r.e strength, and technique is not quite up to par yet.

:frowning:

6/18/09

Lifting with the main coach in PA.

Clean: up to 85kg
-technique is improving slightly. I am much better off the floor, but issues continue.

Clean pulls: up to 100kg

This time around when the cleans got heavy:
-off the floor I was OK, but as the bar got to bellow the knees my hips rose faster than my upper back. Causing my knees to straighten up.
----this means that all I can do is RDL the weight up, and no way to get my legs into the 2nd pull.

On a positive note:
Shrugging was back! (not as sharp as I would like it to, but it was back)

Later that day…

Lifting at the Univ Gym

Bulgarian Split Squats:
5reps up to 70lb dumbells

Step ups:
5reps each leg, 7sets.
–My right knee has a tendency to cave in when I squat. And this time it was trying to cave in and I had to focus on controling that knee drift.

Stretch & GO HOME!

…I will now start training 6 days a week with max weights. If performance regresses, I’ll go back to 5 days a week…

If 6 days a week starts working well for me, I’ll add a second session during the 6th day…

Hey guys, question, if doing more than one session a day, how much rest interval would you take before doing the second session?

Thanks.

You are a fucking retard. You realize the guys training like that have spent about 4 or 5 years building a base first? And have the benefit of world-class coaching? And “restoratives?”

6/20

Snatch: 40/4, 50/3, 55/3, 60/2, 65/1, 70/1, 75/1, 77.5/1

Clean and Jerk: 50/2x2, 60/2, 70/2, 80/2, 85/1, 90/1, 95/1, 97.5/1

Squat: 50/5, 70/3, 80/3, 90/3, 100/3, 110/2, 115/2, 120/2

Tired, so just went up to my openers. Looking forward to resting up, then the meet!

It sucks. I may have to deload

Front squats (ATG, paused, stance is slightly wider than shoulder width)

45x10
205x2
225x2
235x2
265x2 (second rep failed)

Snatch grip deads
265x1 (failed. Grip gave in)
265x1 (success… but I said "screw it, I’m gonna deload.)

AWESOME. Keep it up; it is clearly working.

18/06/09
went to local gym so no prope oly lifting

Back Squats 180 4x2
Power Jerk 80 5x3
Snatch Pull 110 4x3

wrists still hurting me, but I decided to widen my grip slightly on the jerks and they felt a bit better (I’d actually narrowed my grip about 2-3months ago after watching the Euro championships and noticing how narrow all the 94’s clean grip was.

19/06/09

Snatch - 70 4x3
C&J 90 2x2
100 x1
105 2x1

Clean Pull 115 5x3

Good morning 90 3x4

Wore wrists straps which helped my wrists but I’m sure the slightly wider grip helped too. Maybe I should have gradually narrowed my grip rather than moving it in about 2’ all at once. I should have known better really!

Have you ever done a snatch? I see a lot of snatch deadlift but not many snatches (or cleans, or clean pulls, or jerks or anything other than snatch deadlifts and front squats). I’d bet my house on the fact that your snatch deadlifts look fuck all like they’re supposed to either

I’d have never guessed that was Suleymanoglu… but I’m not used to seeing him play chess!

When you say “friendly rivals” does that mean you can be competitive against him, cos that would make you one strong and fast mofo. That boy can lift!

Training in Bmore with Dr. Manhattan!

So I didn’t really have a program since I was “supposed” to Test Snatch and Clean & Jerk but can’t.

I started going Power Snatches from bellow the knees:
-From the start they felt AWEFUL! 60kg felt like a ton. And I was not putting enough power.

Dr. Manhattan then pointed out that I am NOT jumping up.
-Instead of keeping my hips cocked back, shoulders over the bar and jumping up. I humps my hips in thus putting my shoulder parallel to the bar. I then throw my hips forward, the bar swings, little power output and is an ugly lift.

-Dr. Manhattan recorded me, then recorded himself and showed me the difference. I could see it, but I still could not “feel it”. (matter of fact ever since my injury I Snatches haven’t felt right)
-Tired it, but it wasn’t looking that much better.

-Dr. Manhattan then outside. 2mins later he walks in and says “Once ur in this position (high hang) focus on starting your explosion with your knees not your hips. Like this (demonstrated)”

-I was like “wtf??? that can’t be right” but I went ahead and tried it.
-Soon as I though “OK start the explosion by extending the knees”. All my legs muscles just sorta locked into place, center of gravity shifted towards the center of the feet, and BOOM!

-I was like HEY! Snatches from the high hang now feel like the used to. Nice. I kept going and 60kg went up like nothing.

I was happy…

Snatch pulls from high hang, then bellow the knees.
-60kg.

RDLs:
-up to 115kgs… OMG! These were hard as hell.
-100kg were making my lower back/abs and legs/glutes shake!

Need do more RDLs gotta get that strength back!!!

Ab wheel with the bar + plates:
3sets.

Box Jumps:
-I haven’t done these in ages.
-So I started out by jumping only 12", and kept increasing.
-A friend then told me “you need to stack more boxes”
-we then started jumping together to the highest we could go… but at the same time worried not to get hurt a week from competition & camp.

Stretch & GO HOME!

I asked the little troll this same question in his most recent thread in the strength sports forum. Go on over a take a look at his answer. Pure totally insane gold.
