It’s picking up after a big downer and I’ve changed tact from heavy triples to a heavy single and 2 doubles. A heavy triple is too soul destroying at my lower bw considering I was making good progress over 6months.

Yeah man. It seems like everybody’s got some lift or another that they just can’t get down. Overhead stuff has always felt pretty natural to me for the most part, but I have no feel for the bar at all when I clean. It’s always getting away from me.

You just need to make sure your bar work is sharp and you never jump forwards and you keep the bar in.

Then just build up the weight.

Koing

When you say keep the bar in do you mean on pulling and then also the switch and catch before the jerk? I think that is what you mean. I have always been under the impression in powerlifting and weightlifting that the closer the bar is to the body in any position (bench aside) is the stronger position.

This was brutal. Hands down the most difficult squat session I’ve done in a while. I was going to do some light-medium cleans after, but I had nothing left. So I just hit some light hypers. I’m glad I made all the squat reps though!

Yes you want to keep the bar close to your body at all times. The bar moves in a very flat S shape as in the above diagram.

Had a great training day on Friday… now time to peak for the meet on the 29th!

@APE AND @kOING i have included some pulls in my trainging. my max clean is 97.5. this is a 110kg pull. can you guys just check if i am doing it right

114 1 [missed this 4 times last thursday]

114 1 [faster than last time]
118 x [PR attempt]
102 2

Just a quick session, but it went fairly well. I’m pretty happy with making 114 twice, considering my best ever is 116.

Doesn’t look too bad to me, but you do seem to round over a tad off the floor and you don’t get too much height on the bar either. I would suggest that you lower the weight 5-10kg and see how that goes. Koing knows a lot more than I do though, so I’ll defer to him on this one.

I’d go with apes suggestion. Too much weight so far. I’d drop to say 100kg and see how your double is here. Try and keep your hips lower = use your legs. You are using too much back. You are not using your hips enough as well. Get some pulls in at 90 and 95 to get the technique right.
