Haha. I had just been looking at your old “Beast Evolves” article from years ago, and thought when I saw your hair that the bald head works better for you.
ok, so as far as timing goes for new protocol, does this suffice?
-90: Alpha-GPC
-45: 2 FINiBARs
-15: Start sipping the 3 scoops of Anaconda and MAG-10
-0: workout starts, should be halfway done with big jug 3 scoops each
during workout: other half of big ass jug
-15: 2 scoops regular whey protein
when can you eat a solid P+F meal? +90 like usual or something different?
also, i am on low carbs right now, and i have been doing 1 scoop Surge Workout Fuel and 1 scoop Surge Recovery, i am guessing that with this new protocol info, i should be using all Surge Workout Fuel from now on cus the ingredients are more beneficial?
I have a question (well bunch of) regarding the last protocol before this one and this one:
Since I haven’t tried the protocol which includes (SWF, SR, Anaconda, and MAG-10 post), I was thinking of transitioning between the last protocol in the offseason (higher carb protocol), and lower carb protocol (this one). My guess is that it would give me the benefits of the more actual protocol vs the last before it, and at the same time adjusting diet levels to the deficit needed to keep losing fat.
You outlined the removal of Finibar followed by the removal of Surge Recovery in Kevin Nobert’s prep (congratulations BTW), which would leave the possibility that on his last days he was indeed using something similar to this protocol So:
-45 FINiBARs
-30 SWF
-15 SR
During: Anaconda.
+60: Mag protein
Adjustment 1:
-30 SWF
-15 SR
During: Anaconda
+60: Mag protein
*Which could be a substitute for the FINiBARs that were removed?
Adjustment 2:
-30 SWF
During: Anaconda
+60 Mag protein
*Which could be the substitute for the removal of Surge Recovery?
Note: didn’t include Alpha-GPC, but I guess it can be a staple to any peri-workout protocol (cool to see the liquid version with more content).
They are probably delaying the release of the new products until they clear the old inventory out. If MAG-10 and Anaconda do what Surge and Surge Workout Fuel do they don’t want to have that stuff sit on the shelf when the new stuff hits the market.

Seems like w/o the FINiBARs this could be an excellent low carb version of the protocol.
Edit: I would add something prior, my guess is SWF.
Correct… you only need 20-25g of carbs to raise insulin levels.
I thought SWF was low-moderate GI…wouldn’t Surge Recovery be more efficient?
No, rice oligodextrin and palatinose have a much better partitioning effect and keep blood sugar levels more stable while still producing an elevation in insulin.
So putting the protocol aside 2 FINiBARs would raise insulin as much as Surge Recovery?
What do you feel about replacing the FINiBARs with Surge Workout Fuel in the new protocol?
What do you feel about replacing the FINiBARs with Surge Workout Fuel in the new protocol?
Not the same at all. There’s no citrulline malate or beta-alanine (and fewer electrolytes) in FINiBARs so they will not serve the purpose of Surge Workout Fuel whatsoever.
Can you rank the effectiveness of the 3 protocols?
Let’s use the new one as 100% effectiveness, how do the old protocol and then the non-Anaconda/MAG-10 Protein version of the old protocol compare to it?
Well i am not Thibs but i can attest with blood work that recommended d3 supplementation levels are pathetic. I work with a orthomolecular specialist, i have all my nutrient levels examined and adjusted about 4 times per year (long story).
Anyway, one thing we found was with my particualr body chemistry it required 15000 iu per day to put me in mid range and 20000iu per day put me at 72 which is about perfect. Totally off topic but forget what you think you know about vitamin supplementation, the only real way to know is extensive blood analysis…every individual is different.
Overall calorie-wise, does this new protocol end up being significantly lower?
one thing I love about the current protocol is that I’m banging out like 1400 calories in that window… makes it much easier to hit calorie goals without spending the whole day going back in forth between the kitchen and dining room///
