MMA Training Hub II

I enjoyed the pic with the bruised forearms! I get pretty bruised up, but not that bad.

No hate on CF from me.

Parker- not to be a little anal, but in one of your articles it said that Krav Maga was developed by the Israeli army.

Wasn’t it developed by Imi Lichtenfeld before there was an Israeli army, and they kind of adopted it when he taught them? I’m just curious.

(Remember, I’m a journalist so I get called out on stuff like this all the time. Most of the time the people that do the callin out are wrong, too haha).

Yikes, I didn’t write that. Do you remember what section? I’ll have it changed. If you don’t, it shouldn’t be hard for me to find. Thanks, for catching it - you’re right. Imi started developing it as a way of defending himself and his friends against Nazi beatdowns.

He later immigrated to Palestine & continued refining it, then when Israel was formed, Krav became an official part of the IDF.

I’ll take care of it right now.

Son of a bitch! That was listed under my name. Our marketing guy wrote it & didn’t have a password to upload it so he used mine. That’s also why the writing style is completely different. Thank you so much for catching that, Irish. I fixed it.

No problem Parker.

I have class on Monday nights, so I won’t be going to the MT/Boxing session on Mondays (last Monday was Labor Day, so that’s why I attended), so I will be doing BJJ/Wrestling on Thursdays only. I know it’s only once a week, but something better than nothing. Try to learn as much technique as I can in that amount of time.

That’s totally better than nothing, tmoney. Keep doing that & you’ll be that much farther along when you get the chance to add to your training!

Preciate ya Miss Parker. Glad things are going well, website looks good!

Thanks!

Had my sparring session (one hour) with Heath (Gorgeous Bastard) where he takes me down & tries to rip my clothes off. It was actually much better for me because while his hands are busy holding me down & pulling at my pants, they’re not busy punching me. So that means I’m spending less time defending & more time striking. He actually stopped, panting, after a round, & said, “I can’t believe guys really do this. This is a lot of work!”

Also, one time he had me essentially pinned in a sort of sloppy side mount - he’s so big he can capture all my limbs & squish me at the same time. I stopped fighting since I couldn’t move & didn’t want to exhaust myself trying & relaxed my muscles & said as sweetly & seductively as I could while wearing a mouthpiece (ha), “Come on, baby, I like it. I’m not really fighting, this is hot.” Then when he raised his head up to laugh I slipped my arm out & punched him in the face & it was on again. Fun times.

I also like working with him because he cheats almost as much as I do. He pulls my hair & bites & if I’m not going hard enough he’ll pop me hard & yell “go!” But he’s never once injured me, unlike a few of the other guys.

Ooh, also he finally was unable to pin my arms under his knees while he has me mounted. Thank God, I hate that shit.

I’m no where close to “good”, but I’m progressing, and that makes me very happy.

BJJ class tonight. Worked from full guard position trying to take opponent down, worked on side control, and learn some armbar moves. Also worked on some other techniques, like swinging legs back and forth and trying to armbar opponent (not describing this well, but think Fedor v. Hong Man Choi when Fedor swings his legs over and puts Choi in an armbar twice [really surprised Choi’s arm didn’t break on the first time]). I’m still not getting good leverage on armbars, not putting pressure in the right places, but I’m confident it will come with time.

There is a bigger guy helping me out is actually training to become an MMA fighter, so his knowledge and skill are really helping me out and allowing me to learn more and more.

Finished by doing drills (hitting/kicking bags, wheelbarrows carrying each other’s legs, etc).

I realized I had my class schedule mixed up, so I will be attending MT/Boxing classes on Mondays.

We had a judo/shingitai clinic today. 4 hours of no gi, leg locks, toe holds, arm bars, attacks from guard, and some other goodies. I was the lowest ranked person there… most everyone was a blackbelt.

I got to roll with a state champion, national champion, and 2 pan-am champions. There was a lot of good coaching and I really got a lot out of it. I’m looking forward to applying some of this stuff in October.

I’m ready to start back up with some work from home on the bag, but not sure what I want to do in terms of a workout. I need to do some reading and figure some shit out.

My computers fixed hurray! Hey to everyone who dosent like the diesel here, well you all got a sweet treat! I was on my free role at my old mma school (tarring ass up if i may add) so my old coach wanted to roll with me to see if ive improved any! Well hears were it gets intresting, I had the totally brilliant idea that since I had gotten so much better I figured that I could just my pre-training chew in my mouth! Completely unproffesional I know, and for those wondering yes you can chew with a mouth gaurd in.

Well coach side mounted me pushed his forearm into my cheek and when i countered over him he flopped my ass right on my back sending a heaping glob of chew down my throat! Expectedly I was out in the parking lot 10 minutes later with my fingers down my throat and 8 guys pissin’ there pants laughing at me! Karma is a bitch ladies and gentlemen! So for my stupidity I paid for all of them to come train with me at my new place so me and my ex-coach are car pooling 5 + him and I all week.

Exactly what type of workout I want to put together. I haven’t done this shit in a while and don’t want to kill myself the first time back, but do want to make it somewhat challenging.

Well…I’ve finally gotten myself in a routine again…sort of. Been doing just steady-state cardio early in the mornings…and working out again in late afternoon/early evening…lifting twice a week in the evenings.

I’ve been using my new MiR weighted vest pretty consistently over past week. Doing lots of bodyweight circuits with it. My conditioning is starting to pick back up after having that damn back injury. Still being mindful of it. I still have lots of tightness/soreness in my lower back down to my outer glutes. Massage, foam roller,Tiger Balm, ice baths, etc have been my best friends as of late.

Went to MT/Boxing session tonight. Hard session. Worked on stuff from last time (jab, cross, hook). Worked on switch foot kicks both sides, and punch/kick combos as well. Hit the pads for drills and did light sparring. After that, we hit the track and ran in a straight line where the last person in line sprinted to the front, then the new last person in line sprinted to the front, etc. I gassed after a couple of laps, so I hit the bag. Stayed after to work on a couple of things.

I’m out of shape.

Good hard session. Stayed after to work on a couple of things.
