Should i add a strength day like max effort day? we pretty much just use weights on M & Fri.

I love learning all the arts - kicks, punches, grapping - it’s quite fun :stuck_out_tongue:

Seems like you got your plate full already. I noticed it last night, trying to work the heavy bag the day after an ME leg day… I was all off kilter and was moving like a drunk with cement shoes.

I’d leave it alone if I was you.[/quote]

Thanks Irish you da man

I have two mir 50lb vests and I use them every workout.

I got a 84lbs firemans x-vest, and a 25lbs vest from wal-mat both are useful i us the 25 lbs vest about 2-3 x a week running and i alway were the 84lbs when i work out suprizingly enough ive seen a great increase in balance and flexibility along with gret improvement in explosivness.

10 tire flips (tractor tire, no idea how much it weighed)
20 yd. tire drag
1000m row

Tabata: wall balls
box jumps
sumo deadlift high pulls
push press

Mr. Tabata must have been a dreadful person.

So I went to my first MMA practice today. The school I attend has an MMA club, and the first practice was today. Club runs two practices a week: Mondays are standup (MT, boxing) and Thursdays are ground (BJJ, wrestling). I am way bigger than everyone else, but in the worst shape of everyone also haha. Started out with some running (one of my least favorite activities), followed up jump rope and stretching. Then we got into the drills with boxing first. Worked on jab, jab/cross, jab/cross/hook, jab/cross/hook/cross. Worked on technique mainly and drilling it until everyone got it right. Then worked on MT kicks (low and high). We then hit the thai pads for drills, then did boxing drills with partners. Finished with stretching and sit ups/crunches for 5 minutes (it hurt). Today, I’m sore everywhere.

That was the hardest workout I’ve EVER done in my whole life, guaranteed. And it was the first day of basics. But it was great, I loved it! Good atmosphere and training session, looking forward to Thursday’s ground game session.

Will do Boss. You all healed up yet bro?

Any ideas thougts for my REP (upper) Day?

ME Lower Day:

Deadlift 5/3/1
Box Squats/Squats 4sets 10reps
Leg curls 4sets 10reps

ME Upper Day:

Bench Press 5/3/1
DB Bench Press 4sets 10reps
DB Rows 4sets 10reps

I want to include the following excercises to the Rep Day:

Dips, Pullover, (isometric?) chin ups, biceps curl variation (my weakest part, doesnt fit to the rest of my body)

Are you doing 5/3/1 or Westside or something else?

If you want to do them, do them.

I’m doing 5/3/1 for the two max lifts, and want to incoperate some of DeFrancos thougts into my REP Upper Day. (Going for a 3-Day Template).

He postet a 2-day Fullbody Template on elitefts.com for an MMA Fighter, and I found some thougts in his “ask Joe” section…but I’m not sure what will help me for the 3-Day Template.

preciate ya Kalle. Good luck with the comps, been watching your vids on YouTube. Nice work, keep it up! Your comps all in CA or all over the place?

Had practice today, which was ground game (wrestling, BJJ). Another guy showed up today who was a big guy and wrestled in HS, so we were paired up and he really helped me out a lot with technique, form, and just general information. It was bigtime for me.

Worked in the guard on bottom and trying to grab the opponents hands and pull them down, trying to work for position. Worked in half guard the same way, work on mounts and getting out of them (shrimping technique). Only worked on one submission move (armbar) which I wasn’t good at (for now) as I wasn’t getting proper leverage. Then went to wrestling moves. The class was working on slams, but our instructor didn’t want two big guys doing that haha, so my partner worked with me on a duck under move, which he said is good for big guys.

Duck under to getting the guy to the ground to mounting him. He also showed me the butterfly guard, where your feet are inside the thighs of your opponent on top, and how to use leverage to work back into full guard. My partner showed me a quick move to get your opponent close, then kick your feet up as hard as you can, your opponents’ legs fly up, and you wrap around his legs and get into full guard. I kicked up so hard I made my partner perpendicular to the ground, but forgot to get into guard. Hit the thai pads at the end with kicks with each leg.

Also got word that Shane Carwin’s head trainer will be coming in sometimes this semester to teach class and put us through some drills. Looking forward to it (and the subsequent punishment).

Overall, great session. Really enjoying it so far. As with anything new, just need more practice and more drilling until I get it. Need to work on armbar submission and getting proper leverage.

Thanks man.

10/3 Highland games Santa Cruz, CA possibly
10/10 Strongman Fresno, CA
10/17 Highlander Gilbert, AZ

After that I’ll start MMA and see if I can do that and still stay competitive in strongman.

Sorry for the hijack people!

This morning a ladder of 21 deadlifts, 20 pushups, 19 boxjumps, 18 deadlifts, 17 pushups…down to 1, then hit the rower. Those damn other girls all do their damn pushups from their damn knees so by the end of it they blow by me. Dammit.

This afternoon an hour of sparring with my friend Matt (the Gentleman). Guess I’ll be using their real names now, our names & pictures are plastered all over the new website anyway. Something lovely: by the last round I was so exhausted I was seeing spots & trying to burp so I wouldn’t vomit. We filmed this round & though I look drunk & useless I actually am fighting better than I did when we first started all this sparring practice and we filmed us going while I wasn’t even tired. Yay!

YES! Just working on getting my “wind” back…I sparred 6-7 rounds last night. I just made sure I warmed up really good with the jump rope, foam roller, and light timing drills. I was tired as fuck…but it felt good to get in the mix again.

Linkage to the website?

If you go to the krav maga community section most of the articles are written by me.

Don’t hate me because we added CrossFit this year!

Today’s workout: run 400 m
row 900 m
beat a tractor tire with a 20# sledgehammer 40 times (I freaking love doing this for some reason)
21,15, then 9 reps of overhead squats then burpee box jumps

My private lessons instructor told me to wear sweats over my regular workout clothes for this Thursday’s session. We’re going to be working rape scenarios with takedowns & he’s going to try to get those clothes off me. Little does he know I couldn’t care less about that, I’ll be too busy punching him in the head to think about my clothes. We’ll see how it goes.
