Uhh…umm…I’m lost on the whiteboy rhythm part.
Obviously you’ve never been to a wedding with a bunch of Irishmen trying to dance then.
All of the boxing, though, is teaching me rhythm… getting used to punching in beats and moving with coordination is something I had never been able to do before.
BUT I have notice that my reaction time is like crisp. Although the other day…I dropped my cellphone…I caught it…but in the same motion I like “jingled my bells.” LOL.
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA. I think you failed on that one buddy. Come back next time. hahah.
Hey…I still caught the phone…we gotta look at the bigger picture here…hahaha.

On a side note- for those of you in the striking arts, has anyone else noticed that any time something falls, you catch it without thinking? It could be falling off your desk, something flying at your face, or falling out of the cabinet, but you NEVER miss it anymore? I noticed this about a year ago but it’s really been crazy lately. The hand-eye coordination is out of control.
And also, from all this boxing shit, this whiteboy almost, almost has rhythm. I ain’t saying I could dance, but man I’m gettin close.
I have noticed those things and maybe more. The left side of my body has also become a lot stronger and more coordinated than before because of getting used to my fighting stance (I’m a rightie), and I always seem to stand around with my left foot a little in front a la corthodox stance, even if I’m in a queue at the grocery store or somethin’.
Its true, Ive been too beat up to roll anything serious for a while, I guess I have been focusing a little bit on strength too- my lifts are modest, but I can probably squat 400 and pull 450+ soon. I can probably hit
the 3,4,5 deal if I really tried. I really want to get back to O-lifts but its hard to get out to a place that does that shit
so not really strong, but respectable for a 175lb dude.
Damn son, you just blew up spots on my training log, and the mobility thread.
BigBoss, Irish needs to clarify- the Irish weddings usually end with a keg. or start with a keg,
I found out the few times I tried striking- I was whiter then I thought, and Im not that much of a white dude.

Yeah, I love this, I used to be a total klutz, but not any more.
Today:
400m row
800m run
burpees w/ broad jump 20 yards
10, 9, 8…1 reps of sumo deadlift/high pulls with kettlebell, kettlebell swings, knees-to-elbows from the pullup bar

Nice man! But yea, I want to stay in that 170-190 range. Good amount of punching power, but above that I would start defeating my own purpose I think. Getting bigger is cool, but having fast hands and footwork is better.
Hahhhahaaha. Lotta good shit up in there.
Exactly. I love Ricky Hatton but I want to fight like BHop.

Anybody have some experiences with weighted vests?
Always wanted one but never thought that one would actually be worth the money.
I feel ya. I’ve always played with the idea. But I have some extra dough and might be purchasing a good quality 50lbs vest for a pretty reasonable price, imo.
I figured that I will get my money’s worth with the number of things I can do with a good vest…and of course the benefits of working out with one will be tremendous for me.

A guy I train with sometimes wears a weighted vest when we spar. It makes him work harder, of course, & allows me to not have to pull my strikes to the body. He wears it on some other work outs, too, & loves it.
I will tell you a secret… there is a 25 lb one at walmart and a 20 at target for 50$ both spots.
I have used one they are cool- pushups dips, ring work, burpees, pull ups , all manner of calisthenics, awesome.
I wore one on a " comeback" that I did in like 2003 while training for a Judo tourney
stairs, sprints, hills, seemed to star to hurt my hip, and my ankles and you are a grande, so maybe its not for you??? ask a bigger guy who is knowledgeable maybe the guy with the freaky prowler vids he is
a legit S&C type.

hey guys - been training some what like a MMA fighter - i used to be a gym rat but i miss the martial arts so here it is:
M: weights
5x6-8x90sec rest
T: Boxing / conditioning (complex)
W:BJJ no-gi
Th: Muay Thai
Fr: weights / crossfit like circuit
Sat: MMA training, overall week review training
each session is about 1.5-3hrs depending on my partners and how much knowledge they know cuz we might be drill’n or discussing technique. the guys i train with are way bigger than i am - so we are talking about 6 ft 250+lb dudes.
Should i add a strength day like max effort day? we pretty much just use weights on M & Fri.
I love learning all the arts - kicks, punches, grapping - it’s quite fun

Seems like you got your plate full already. I noticed it last night, trying to work the heavy bag the day after an ME leg day… I was all off kilter and was moving like a drunk with cement shoes.

Aren’t you like 300 lbs.? How much more weight you need? ;)
Well, you do have a point. But if I can manage doing bodyweight exercises/GPP stuff with an extra 30-50lbs,I imagine I can help push my body to another level. Plus it will help keep me from getting stagnant with my workouts…especially with lifting. What I really want is a damn Prowler…but that is out of my price range for a new toy.

Oh I hear you. I would use one too if I had it, definitely.
And if you know any welders, I bet you they could make that thing for you at a quarter the price.
