I have been throwin punches since i was 6 years old and weight since i was 12 so ya naw your masterpiece wont be printed less i feel like pissin on it for entertainment…naw aint worth the paper. I have a truly sufficiant workout that suits me and im doin absolutely fine with my classes now. My family supports me pushes me foward and gives me the resolve to always over come! As for gettin my shit straight life aint that hard to manage for me really with me and my girl we make just about enough to afford…well damn near anything we could ever want! well except the 2005 camaro i want down the street from us. But I digress, so for my spelling hmmm try lookin over ye ol’ grammer dude and personally believe i can write anything however the fuck i please snazzy yo? Oh 1 last thing “HAHAHAHAHAHAHA” i just thought id let ya know what it sounded like when i read your post!

You probably just made yourself very unpopular. Don’t be surprised if no-one ever offers you any kind of advice in the future, if that’s how you’re going to receive it-

God forbid that anyone actually give you the advice you were looking for.
You obviously think that you’re the expert. You obviously came here to boast bullshit schedules so that everyone would bow down and worship your awesome he-manliness, sorry that didn’t happen.

Good luck with the training, I’m sure we’ll see you, UFC champ, no time.

ya well if ya read the whole thread i had already mentioned that i had already solved my problem and for any kind of strength or conditioning, I never asked anyones oppinion on it he just shoved it in there for the fuck of it hell he didnt even spit on it haha! People playin the all knowin role dont fly buy me and you guys shouldnt be gettin pissed at my schedual get the fuck over it im doin what i have to to attain my goals those who cant believe it just dont believe they themselves could do it. Sorry but its in my blood ive always pushed myself hard.
As for expert oh hell no im goin for personal trainer certification in december but we’ll see about that them but i do know how my body works better than some wise guy tryn sound like a genius on a keyboard!
Dude your “question” was elementary. As if you couldn’t have solved it without even asking for help…which you did. You asked…therefore it was answered…whether you like it or not. Nobody is “getting pissed at your schedule.” It’s just ridiculous how you couldn’t solve your issue with recovery/time with family just by recognizing your high volume of training on top of working 40hrs a week. Once again…elementary stuff…simple equations.

Almost as if you don’t have a confidence in yourself that training hard in fewer sessions will yield you great results. You’re being absurd in your new-found arrogance. If you have all the answers about how your “body works” then stop seeking advice.

It brings a tear to my eye, every time that someone mentions how dumb the class of '09 is.

I guess it makes it easier to be at the top of my class, right? I mean, I could be 90% retarded and my posts would still look good, 'cause people would look at the join date and say, well, he’s not doing so bad.

At least the year is almost over, and then we can bring in the newest batch, an we can join forces, start moaning about the idiots of 2010.

I just realized that you are part of the prestigious class of '09. You have contributed a lot of good stuff…because no one poster is absolutely right about everything. You’re at least giving an honest effort sans bullshit with offering up advice from your REAL experiences. But in the end…it is just the internet.

HAHAHAH. Man, I know what you mean, but we’ve NEVER had a class as bad as 2009. It’s been extraordinary across the board in every forum. You’re one of the few that’s turned out to be good. Hope you stick around.

It is strange it comes in waves- and there are some serious assclowns who have been here for years.
I can think of plenty… that and big boss is right it is the interweb, every one can be an ass.
But really 09 as a whole seems not to get it.

Back to training.
Or at least something training related, I got a call from the Dr. after he looked at the pictures,
he is thinking anterior cervical surgery, Im thinking not so much.

There are 7 cervical bones, of which mine perform like 4 or so. This is supposed to be the least invasive,
but its not exactly pretty. two big cuts, some grinding, a nice titanium plate with screws good shit.
Either way I am buying this guy like a weekend home or the Chiro’s kids off to exclusive schools.

This is something I knew for years, that my neck was jacked.

Yeah it’s a weird world, this internet. I think about it a lot actually. Hard to explain how I feel about it. Sometimes I forget that it’s actually real people looking in from their screens. I’ve been guilty of being an internet expert, an internet tough guy. It’s easier to call people out online than it is in real life…But anyhow, I think you guys set a pretty good example. And so I just try and keep it as real as I can.

But yes, back to more on-topic discussion,
kmc- I’m real sorry to hear about your neck, that really sucks man.
Are there viable alternatives to surgery?

hmm well id like to say im sorry then guys i didnt know everyone in the combat section was so tender hearted. But aight that was harsh kmcnyc ill give it to ya that was a nice lil set up ya had goin on man, and im sure it works or had worked for you in the past. You have got some knowledge and Im sorry to hear about your kneck dude.

My mom had to have the same thing done and i had to sell my car at the time cause she could’nt afford the surgery. I would like to say that Im not tryin to be a douche on here i just dont take shit, period. Im honostly very passive, a true stoner at heart ya know.

Anyways man it didnt mention what kind of doctor you saw, probobly a specialist but my only word of advice would be to get a second oppinion from a chiropractor I was suppost to have had surgery 11 mounths ago were it not for meeting my guy i would have 1 less disc in my vertabre. But sad to say there also very pricy, i only go 2X a month and its a chunk of change!

Um, wow, I thought it was really generous of kmcnyc to go through the trouble to write all that stuff out, and that it was sound advice. Anyway…

Did an hour of sparring this morning with GB & an hour in the afternoon with G. I am battered & sore, but for once, they kind of are, too. YAY! I’m finally starting to see a little progress. G surprised me by picking me up & running across the room with me, dropped me in a big pile of pads & trapped me there shoved against the wall & pads. Surprise rape scenario. He was driving hard & I had a hard time getting my knees together to shove him off as my shin guards were getting in the way, but I’d have to deal with obstacles if it were real, so I have to deal with that. Relentless saw what we were doing & ran to get the video camera. He promises he’ll send it to me - if its good I’ll post it, as I have a feeling I’m doing some different stuff than y’all are. I got scolded repeatedly for not stomping his head in as a finisher. I said, "he’s “unconscious, look at him!” They said, “What if he’s faking! He just tried to rape you! Stomp him! WTF!”

Awesome thing happened today: Just before the afternoon session a guy came in to inquire about MMA classes. I asked him if he’d trained before. He said he’d trained for about 9 years. Okay. I asked if he concentrated on BJJ or standup. Long pause. “Well,” says he, “I pretty much consider myself a 7th degree black belt in MMA”. True fucking story. I politely said, “Oh, well, that’s great. Why don’t you come to the 7:45 MMA class? It’s free.” He said he would. No show, I think, they guys are on their way to pick me up to go to a new sports bar, I’ll find out then.
I LOL’d at your story, Parker.

BTW, love the new avatar. You’re badass! I’m very close to getting my home setup operational so I can do some boxing and muay thai workouts at home.

Nice to see you here DJ.

thanks for the Neck well wishes people, its not a surprise, Its been bad, for years, the real reason
I gave up greco ( that and a HUGE series of concussions) I passed out a few times in college,
and a few times after during matches, and thought it was due to cutting too much , but more likely after
talking to this Neck Dr. the third BTW, I think it was something constricting blood or oxygen.
Nice right?

I do chiro, have been to a rolfer, they are awesome btw, and am looking into a chiro who does ART
except they like cash not insurance.

Anyway- I have been off and on again with judo and BJJ for the last few years, to the point where I can only roll 1 once every other month or so, and nurse myself for a while. The teaching thing is kind of nice,
except its like being in a strip bar when you dont drink. or for the fat people the dessert buffet.
not easy being around stuff you cant or should not do.

but I do get to lift and play in the weight room except we all know thats kinda boring.

Where you been fucker???

YAY!!! Djwlfpack is home at last! I missed you! Glad your house is coming along. Still editing?

Oops, forgot: took a level 1 class tonight instead of teaching it. They were filming for some video so I was a sandbagger. Also got to do it for the law enforcement class, which they never even let civilians watch, not even instructors. I felt like the fox in the henhouse. Forgot to tap & rack my gun, like a dork. It was like playing cops & robbers! Fun night.

Well…my back is finally close to 100% or whatever percent it was before I hurt it. Trying to ease back into my routine. I warmed up with my students tonight…which consisted of 15min jump rope and 4 x 3 min rounds of shadowboxing/timing. Then I took them over focus mitt work…really emphasizing defense…lots of 6-count drills. Then did more punch defense drills mixed in with various kick defense drills.

Then we had fun…I strapped on the belly pad and thai pads then took all students through 4min thai pad drills…once again, really focusing on defense/hand position. I really took time in “reminding” each student when they were dropping their hands, not using proper blocking technique, etc. It was enough of a workout for me after being out 3 weeks. Will be doing some form of light conditioning work in the morning…and then sparring later that evening. Still being mindful of my back.

I figured I would throw my lot in here…

Currently I’m training in judo three times a week in Ann Arbor. I dislocated my left shoulder in January in a tournament, tearing some cartilage and ligaments and I opted not to have surgery so I don’t have to take a huge time off of training. Just this month I’ve finally been able to get back at it with some intensity, but using my left hand for tsurite is pretty excruciating.

For shoulder rehab I’ve been trying some high frequency stuff twice a day, doing a set of ring pullups, barbell rows, military presses, pushups and internal/external rotations with bands. Thank god for home gyms! I have been ritualistic about it for the last six weeks, and have noticed some great improvements.

I train judo Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, which leaves me Tuesday and Thursday for weight training. I try to do deadlifts/back on Tuesday, and squats/legs on Thursday because Friday is all grappling and I can handle doing that with rocked legs. Obviously with the shoulder problem, chest work is limited to my pushups, but I don’t notice the lack of benching.

Where you been fucker???
Man, good question.

The past few months have been busy between taking vacation (went to Seattle; it was awesome) and having both sets of in-laws visit. Always good to see family, but at the same time, glad I don’t live so close to them.

Time was also spent clearning up my stomach issues. I had gastritis, which is a bacteria that develops and is kind of similar to an ulcer (which I also had). Feeling much better now, although I still have some bad days but at least it’s not 2-3 weeks of feeling like shit like I had been dealing with.

Work has been busy (FI, you can relate) and I’ve also been exploring a career change. Shitty timing, I know, but hey, figured while I have a job (knock on wood) it can’t hurt to see what else is out there.

Been doing a lot of mountain biking, running (did a 5k for fun a month ago and am doing a 10k next month) and slowly getting back to lifting 2-3 days a week. As I mentioned, I’m close to setting up an area in my house where I can hit the portable heavy bag and do some bodyweight conditioning and some dumbbell work. We had a big storm out here so I picked up some insurance money for car and roof damage and have some left over after repairs that I’m going to buy some adjustable dumbbells to save space.

Unfortunately, work requirements still don’t jive with BJJ class times so I’m SOL there, but at least I can do some boxing/muay thai stuff at home.

Oh, and had a 2-part root canal done over the last 10 days. You know, the root canal itself wasn’t bad at all; the pain I felt before it was much worse.

There, I think that catches everyone up. See, all you need to do is ask a writer one 4-word question and look at the response you get, lol.

I’m going to try and be more active on this board, too.

hahahahahaha. Ahh, the combat forum, where nearly all of us are falling the fuck apart but literally fight on. You don’t see this crap in the bodybuilding section.

I’ve been lifting twice a week lately, one ME upper day and one ME lower day, based off of fellow NJ guinea Joe DeFranco’s WS4SB III. On at least three other days, it’s all boxing and self defense stuff. 3-4 rounds of shadowboxing for 3-5 minutes, heavy bag drills, padwork, jumping rope, and then just practicing strikes and kicks that I stole from Goju-ryu, like elbows, palm heel strikes, front kicks, etc. I try to run through it as quick as I can, with one minute breaks or less between all of them.

Every workout is begun with shoulder rehab, interior/exterior bandwork, and every workout ends with those shoulder dislocation things that KMC showed me, as well as another mobility drill from his “Rip off EC” thread. If I could get my lazy ass to do some roadwork and I lost maybe 10 lbs., I’d be perfect… however, I’ve found with the extra weight I’m carrying, I’m closing in quick on a goal of a 315 lb. squat.

Being as that’s good for a former skinny fuck like me, I’m thinking about dealing with the weight. It’s not like I got a fight coming, and it’s not like I don’t like gaining size… although it figures that by the time I hit an age where I can actually GAIN size and weight, that’s not my goal anymore. Fucker.

LOL. That is our new motto,Brother Irish.

On a side note- for those of you in the striking arts, has anyone else noticed that any time something falls, you catch it without thinking? It could be falling off your desk, something flying at your face, or falling out of the cabinet, but you NEVER miss it anymore? I noticed this about a year ago but it’s really been crazy lately. The hand-eye coordination is out of control.

And also, from all this boxing shit, this whiteboy almost, almost has rhythm. I ain’t saying I could dance, but man I’m gettin close.

Uhh…umm…I’m lost on the whiteboy rhythm part. BUT I have notice that my reaction time is like crisp. Although the other day…I dropped my cellphone…I caught it…but in the same motion I like “jingled my bells.” LOL.

Obviously you’ve never been to a wedding with a bunch of Irishmen trying to dance then.

All of the boxing, though, is teaching me rhythm… getting used to punching in beats and moving with coordination is something I had never been able to do before.
