Looking to Gain Muscle Mass 33 y/o F

I don’t mind the drama. We can all argue about the best ways to be jacked. In the end, I realize everyone is coming from a place of passion and that’s a beautiful thing.

A little update, life has been going better for me. Way more positive outlook, I’ve also been tracking my meals more closely. My appetite is back (thank god) and I’m regaining some of my lost progress. For simplicity, I have been back to push, pull, legs but looking forward to more training geared towards my specific deficiencies. Any tips from folks on here for becoming a morning person?

Have a baby that wakes up at 5 am.

Joking aside, the best thing I’ve found is to start your morning in the evening. Write a to-list for the next day so you don’t get stressed about forgetting something. Do boring shit like dishes and folding socks in the evening to wake up to a clean environment instead of a stressful one. Charge your phone in the kitchen instead of your nightstand so doomscrolling is avoided and you sleep better. Have a plan for breakfast so you have something to look forward to. Have your gym bag packed so you can zip out the door.

It’s about going to bed looking forward to the morning, instead of seeing the bed as the goal, if that makes sense.

I wish I had good tips for you, but I’m just naturally a morning person. I like everything @Brant_Drake put down.

Definitely join the T-ransformation challenge! Great, supportive environment!

keep a consistent sleep schedule everyday, including holidays and weekends.

If you currently sleep later than you want to, slowly push forward your bedtime 30min a week until you reach a time where you can wake up as early as you need to and still get 7-8 hours. Melatonin will also help during this process

As you efficiently breeze through the morning, keep telling yourself you like it. Tell yourself you’re good at it.

Alright, so I figured it can’t hurt to put this out here and see if other people have had any success with this. Each month, following my period I start to have acid relfux which feels like my throat has a tickle in it and/or closing. I have taken Pepcid 20mg in the past and noticed I have a sore throat after a few days which I always attributed to the reflux. This past week, I took an rx of Pepcid for 40mg and after a few days my throat was on fire leading me to come to the conclusion that the pepcid is actually giving me a sore throat which is then accompanied by cold symptoms each month (chills, body aches, sweating, overall feeling like crap). I’m obviously not going to use the Pepcid for the month of April but just wondering if anyone has used anything else or has successfully healed their gut lining. Thanks

This is interesting because Pepcid belongs to a class of drugs that is actually a histamine agonist: you’d expect to use it to treat all these symptoms.

Anyway, maybe the jacked ladies know something @Dani_Shugart @QuadQueen @unicornsandrainbows @ChickenLittle @EmilyQ (I’m sure there’s many more and it’s on me if I forgot you).

I have many questions. It sounds like it isn’t uncommon to have your cycle effect acid reflux. My first suggestions are all diet related. I’d try 1-2 of these at a time and report back so you can pin point it.

  1. Probiotics- increase your Greek yogurt intake. Drink Kefir or Kombucha, etc. increase your intake of fermented foods.
  2. Eat more fiber - dark leafy greens, berries, oats
  3. Avoid fast food, refined sugars, alcohol, etc. especially around your period. Don’t give into those cravings!
  4. Try eliminating or reducing dairy. Adult-onset lactose intolerance is a thing. Ask me how I know.

Let’s start there and see what happens in April. I don’t experience this effect with my period so I am throwing some generalizations out, but all of those are great for gut and general health anyway!

Edit: I went back and read this whole thread. Happy to have you to here! Definitely go start a training log, it’s good to see another lady here.
We are crazy close in stats, age, weight, height. I find that interesting.
I am also curious to see what you think of the RP coaching app. I have a human coach now, but I may go that route depending on how I feel at 90 days with her.
Anyway, glad you are here. Keep up the good work- you do look jacked already.

@unicornsandrainbows nailed this one. Let’s take a deeper look at your diet and beverage intake too. Could you keep a detailed food and drink log (including water, meal timing, symptoms, portions) and post it in here for the next three days?

Thinks like caffeine, carbonation, drinking too much with meals, gluten, dairy, acidic foods, spices, fat-rich foods and meats, chocolate - can all be factors. I totally agree with the probiotic and potentially we’ll look at throwing in a digest enzyme for a bit.

If you give us a more detailed look at what you’re doing, we can drill into this and hopefully figure it out!

Wow, thank you for your response. I will admit, I could definitely add in more leafy greens and fruits overall. I do a lot of rice and oats but very little veggies/fruits and I’m sure that causes some level of distress to my gut. I was doing Bio k+ probiotics and that did seem to help so I will revisit that and be more stringent for April. One thing I’ll also cut back on is going to be coffee, it is my emotional support item and also preworkout helps me crush my workouts, but it might be causing me more harm than good when I’m ovulating.

BPC-157 did wonders for preventing acid reflux. I do injections. I get it maybe once a month now instead of a few times a week and at like 25% the intensity.

I wish I could help, but I have always been remarkably free of any GI or hormonal issues (ask me about my crap skin and generalized inflammation!). I do question chills, body aches coming from something like Pepcid, but of course am completely out of my wheelhouse here.

However, let me take this opportunity to say that I follow this thread with interest, as I do pretty much all of the women’s threads.

Clinics are charging up to $500 a month for it now

I did get prescribed this once but was reluctant to take it—maybe I will circle back around to taking it for may
