Jack's Horse Blue Heat Liniment

This topic was broached but basically unanswered on another post, so I thought I’d bring it up again. What’s the deal with Jack’s Horse Blue Heat Liniment? In an article in the December Issue of T-mag “Getting Schooled Westside Style” the author observed: “I even saw some of them put a blue liquid on their knees, hips, and lower back. I looked at the bottle from which it came. It was a mixture that relieved joint inflammation in horses.” The consensus on the Forum was that the blue liquid was Jack’s Horse Blue Liniment. What’s in it and has anyone used it? Is it safe for “normal humans” and does it work to reduce inflammation? (Run Jack’s Blue Horse Liniment on Google and you’ll see it’s on sale for approx. 9 bucks for an oz).

I know several older women with chronic arthritis that swear by the stuff. No personal experience, though

Any chance it was Super Blue Stuff. I saw the infomercial, and it contains emu oil, ample amounts of MSM, and other pain relief herbs. I was a sucker and bought it. Although I don’t think it is quite worth the price, it does work pretty well on my shoulders.

Still trying to get your answer to this, Avoids. Is this the stuff that you said worked so well on another thread? And Kali, props for bring this issue up on a dedicated thread.

Most of the blue liniments are MSM based. I’m sure they’re safe for humans because you can do like a gram or more of MSM orally per day. Some people have good luck with it for joint pain.

Bump…

Sorry Char-Dawg, I was traveling the last few days so I didn’t see the post. Jack’s is good but I prefer a product called Sore No More. I think it works better, both on my horses as well as on people, than Jack’s and is less expensive. It’s great for tendonitis.

My left shoulder and elbow are developing tendonitis so this thread really got my interest. I did a little research and here is what I found: Jack’s Horse Blue Heat Liniment, 16 oz, $8.30, which works out to $0.52/oz. Sore No More, 8 oz, $11.95, which works to $1.49/oz. Super Blue Stuff, 4 oz, $39.95, which works out to $9.99/oz. The prices are from Yahoo! Shopping, except the Sore No More which is from www.sorenomore.com
I think I’ll give the Jack’s Horse Blue Heat Liniment product a try and if that doesn’t work I’ll try Sore No More. Please add to the thread if you have other experiences or know of better prices.

Has anybody tried Equi-Block or Equi-Tite and if so, what are your impressions.

Thanks Avoids! (I was beginning to think that you didn’t love me anymore…)

Some own posted in another thread that they used equi-block with success (another horse product!) I’m going to go with the jack’s and then maybe try the other stuff. I’m curious if Jack’s brings the “heat” or if it’s just MSM based, If anyone has tried it please weigh in.

I use Bigeloil, which is an anti-inflammatory linament used with horses to reduce joint swelling. I have used virtually every oral anti-inflammatory know to man, and this stuff is by far the best for both muscle soreness and tendonitis. You can get it any any vet supply site, or store.
