I beat down 2-3 bananas a day, 10 is for the pros.
Look at the ingredients on most weight gainer shakes - fine oats and protein powder, maybe a bit of maltodextrin. You can make that yourself: 60 grams of whey powder and 150g of fine oats with 400ml of semi-skimmed milk = 1000+ calories.
You can chug it back easily and you’re not eating a bowl of sugar and cream.
Ok, ditch the ice cream. Check. I’m also taking down half a gallon of milk (800cals) a day as well as I love milk and it’s easy to drink these easy cals down throughout the day.
What other staples of diet have helped you guys bulk up? (without it being ‘pints of dumb’)

Truthfully?
hamburgers
steak
eggs (tons and tons of eggs)
milk
hamburgers
rice
potatoes
hamburgers
I am also not against “weight gainers” considering most are not the retarded sugar parties they were 15 years ago…but since many people here are also retarded, I guess I ahve to blatantly write that no one should be worrying about a weight gainer if they are already fat as hell.
Weight gainers are for :
-extremely large weight lifters who need 4000-50000+cals a day (yes, I wrote 50,000 bitches)
-really skinny newbs with low body fat
-fat guys who want to become more rotund so as to be more symmetrical…like a perfect circle.

I try to keep it simple since Im broke and not that good of a cook.
Beef, eggs, and milk are where the majority of my protein comes from.
potatoes, rice, granola bars, and some fruits is where my carbs come from.
i dont worry too much about fat intake since i put olive oil on almost everything i cook and steak and eggs already have a ton of fat in them.
i also drink 2 weight gain shakes a day that consist of about a 1000kc each with milk and about 80 grams of protein.
I basically try to have 4 meals a day.
breakfast
lunch
dinner
then a 2nd dinner using the food thats left over. usually some type of meat and carbs.
ill throw the weight gainer shakes after breakfast and after lunch.
its really simple and seems to be working.
good luck man.

Hey guys, 2 quick questions.
#1) What do you guys do to stave off fat accumulation during your bulking? I’m well aware that with weight gain will come inevitable fat gain; however, i’m trying to mitigate the damage as I go through the bulk. Right now I’m walking at a 4mph pace for 30-45 min, 3 times a week.
#2) I try and bulk as cleanly as possible, but I won’t lie every now and then I order a whole Papa John’s pie, or will eat a whole pint of haagen-dazs in one sitting. I can’t help and think about what all these insulin spikes are doing to my body and if (or when) I should worry about thing like diabetes and whatnot.
Last weigh in: 181lbs, 10%bf. Goal (190lbs, hopefully after that i’ll shoot for 200)
#2 isn’t a question.
If you’re worried about fat gain then maybe a pizza and a pint of ice cream is not the best idea.
Did I say I was worried about fat gain? In #1 I stated that I clearly accept that fat gain will come with the bulk, I just want to mitigate it (I wasn’t delusional and said that I wanted to gain 20 pounds with NO fat gain.) And #2 is a question. Your reading comprehension sucks.
Shittiest. reply. ever.
There’s not much worse than someone 1. who bitches when someone tries to help out and 2. says they want to achieve something but then directly goes against it. “I want to build muscle” but they skip going to the gym, “I want to lose fat” but don’t follow I diet. Not even just with bodybuilding. “I want to go to med school” but then get drunk every night instead of studying.
And #2 is not a question. And while we’re ripping on people on a forum about grammar, it’s “can’t help but think”

IF you are truly looking to put on some weight…cut out the pints of ice cream. …and the ice cream is…well, its ice cream.

A Pint of ice cream is 1,200 cals. Is there some reason those cals wouldn’t count? Why wouldn’t I want them if i’m “truly looking to put on some weight”? Or did you mean if i truly want to put on clean weight?
I would rather you use a weight gainer than that. I am not a fan of empty calories…and yes, sugar and fat as a treat counts as empty calories.
I saw one weight gainer with 1300 cals in two scoops with 120gr of protein total…which is more than you can get in a 1lb steak. For someone looking to pout on muscle, of the two, which do you think is better?
How many grams of protein do you count per ounce of steak? I use 10g/oz (cooked) but from above it would seem you use less than 7.5g, unless you mean 1lb before it’s cooked.

Why would I worry about being that specific about an ESTIMATED AMOUNT OF PROTEIN? You do realize that all of those can labels you read are not exact?

Of course, especially with meats. I didn’t say you should be worried, I asked how much you count it as considering you said you don’t think a pound of steak has even 120g grams of protein

To me, 1lbs of steak = @ 80-100gr of protein.

Nice. You got any cupcake recipes? I need a good one for my next bulk.
/sarcasm
Chocolate and ice cream on a bulk? Is that how some people are getting their 4,000 calories in?
I’ve been bulking since early summer things have been going pretty good I’ve gone from 185lbs to 210, my goal was 220 but now that I’m 10lbs away I don’t see 10 pounds making that much of a difference since I’m 6’1 I think 230-235 would be better.
Also I was listening to the iron radio podcast about eating big with a plan and all the guys seemed to agree on the method of eating big to get to a certain weight as fast as possible then stay at the new weight for an extended period of time while training into the new weight, Instead of trying to gain 1 pound per week I wanted too see what you guys thought of this method.
