As I’m sure most of you have heard, there is a white guy on this forum who posts under the name “SquatDr”, he inspires many with his claims of a 50" standing vert and 55.5" running vert, but does recent evidence prove him to be a fraud?
Is SquatDr a fraud? You decide.[/quote]
Tho I don’t do jump exercises… I can standing jump onto those trash cans that are 43 inches @ 5’8" and if he trains his vert, I don’t see why he can’t.

Those are box jumps bro, way different than a vert.
Ive seen guys do 55" and even 58" box jumps, means they are explosive as fuck, but they dont have a 55" vert.
As far as I know there isn’t a direct correlation between a box jump height and vert

Well then, I learned something new today. Thank you

I can running jump onto a 50" box and my actual running vertical leap is 30" to give you an idea of the difference.
Agreed. I feel like your flexibility has a lot to do with how high you get on a box jump. The higher you can bring your knees up, the easier it would be to get your feet up onto the box. However, it does take good explosive power to get onto a high box.
Isn’t this the strength sport section??? We’re not talking about highland games, powerlifting, strongman, not even shot put or discuss. I understand people’s need to delve into the lives of people on the web, but shouldn’t that be in a section like Get a Life(off topic)??? If he’s lying it’s on him, watch the vid, make your own judgement, and move on. I’ve worked with athletes of all ages/skill levels, and don’t make half the claims he does. Do I believe it’s possible he squats over 700 raw? Of course it’s possible, anything is which is why most of us train, we’re trying to achieve something beyond our limits. I don’t think he’s a Sam Byrd, but whatever. Looked at his site and found all I needed to make my opinion.
If he has a 50in vert, sick, if not, don’t think I’m losing any sleep.

This is one reason who I don’t splooge over Adrian Wilson jumping over the high hurdle. His legs were tucked so damn much.
Dunno who ur talking about, but guys have been lying about a few extra inchs since the beginning of time. Who cares?

Exactly. Whether his claims are true or not does not affect anyones training. Everyone just needs to bust ass. I personally have him as a reference and everything he’s told me has helped me develop as an athlete and all the advice I’ve ever heard him advise was sound info. However, everyone is entitled to their opinion. adarqui is another person I talk to and he gives great advice too. Just listen to everyone and see what works and what doesn’t. Like the saying goes, theres more then one way to skin a cat.
